    G60 ISV

The Idle Valve (ISV) on my G60 has never been particuarly noisey but I do here it click when the ignition is turned on and you can here the motor hum if you listen carefully... What I have noticed while trying to sus out my current running problems is that it appears to 'pulse' every few seconds... Bassically I have the valve off at the moment and if I hold it in my hand and plug it in with the ignition power to it you can feel it running but every few seconds it stops and imediatly starts again, very consistent but is this normal???
  2. Add a set to my account please Steve  Who is the manufacturer? - could you also find out if th lenses will be replaceable like the originals..?

    CLUTCH

Look for signs of fluid leaking from the master and slave (master is next to the brake servo and BMC and slave is ontop of the gearbox) Is it completly loose or does the feel some back if you pump the pedal?? Have you noticed the bite point getting lower down over the last few days?? - If so that indicates a fluid leak...
  4. Oh yeah, sorry Samco's I bought second hand (but new) from someone on here at a very good price! - I think it was about half the price they would cost for both sets (the water and the boost) They are a git to fit tho and the intercooler pipes they sent me didn't fit even tho the kit was specifically for a Corrado G60 - I contacted Samco about this and they said they'ed get back to me but never did...
  5. Yeah, the oil was fairly clean (considering its due for a change again now) Cam lobes were fine and tappets are still original and quiet, one thing I did notice was the casting on the head, on the front side of the cam its very smooth around the edges but if you look at the back on the picture, notice how rough it is like its just come out of the mould and it looks like those thin bits of metal are about to fall off - altho they are pretty tough... I just don't understand why one side has been more 'finished' than the other, I wonder if I got a friday afternoon engine!
  6. Cheers Funky, thats what Darren said, I'll have another look this afternoon - Do you have ABS by the way?? Maybe mine has less room???
  7. I broke the plastic bit off whilst trying to replace the end of the pipe that feeds the MFA as it looked ropey but broke as I tried to get the metal clip off... Anyways got a new one, had to buy a whole new pipe assembly (£17) as its all one big moulded unit... Went to fit it today as I thought it would be a five minute job until I saw where on the brake servo the pipe connects to (right behind the suspension turret and resevoir...) Can anyone confirm how to do this - I assume the master cylinder has to come off and moved out of the way - how hard is this to do, just the two bolts and move it to the side?? - the brake pipes look flexible but not that flexible! Also note the new pipe does not have the extra outlet on the other end, good for me as that pipe is blanked off as i have the CC deleted
  8. Yep, thats the lambda wiring, there is also an earth right next to the plug... The hose needs replacing, dealers should have some instock, about £4 for a metre or so (cut it down to size when you get home)
  9. Had the ISV off today for cleaning and noticed the rocker cover was leaking a bit at the back so thought it would be a good time to change the gasket I bought last year... Fairly straight forward, ISV off, TB vacuum pipe off, 6mm allen bolts for the brackets to the TB, a couple of other things need unplugging and moved out of the way and I had to loosen the two 10mm bolts to the FPR to allow the cam cover to come up... I was hgowever suprissed at the state of things underneath, particuarly the colour!! - I did my mk2 Golf at the same mileage (100k's) and it was a lot cleaner than that! For info the Corrado has had oil changes every 3k since I've owned it with synta silver and new G60 filter every time too, oil temp is controlled by a remote mocal cooler, example - I have not seen it go above 90 degrees since before xmas... Anyway, cleaned the inside of the cover, the baffle and the gasket surfaces and stuck the new gasket on with a bit of oil and got it all back together again... For info the bolts are 10mm and need to be done up to 10Nm (altho mine are 12 as thats as low as the wrench would go..) Its also worth buying a few new nuts as I found the thread had stipped completly off one of them! Gasket is an Elring one, £8 from GSF
  10. He's got a G60, you can measure the resistance accross the pins from cold and you can also swap the blue and black plugs over to test...
  11. Use the new switch to locate the screw, ie hold the switch the same way as the old one sits and try to locate the screw on the old one where the hole on the new one is... you will need quite a small screwdriver for this!
  12. One side is £35, the other £25 (can't remember which..) Neither come with the lens effect which I agree was very useful, had it on my MK2...
  13. And I think i'm correct in saying if you manage to get some V6 4motion carries (expensive new and rare second hand), you can fit 305mm discs..
  14. There were 2 different tints for the Corrado, neither was blue! You sure thats not film?? - Is the glass made by SECURIT with the VW/Audi logo also in place??
  15. Yep, they order them in £6.49 each but they are just self adhesive... A bloke in the states does blue ones, again they are just self adhesive...
  16. Got home early from work and has I had a couple of hours good daylight decided to have a look at my heap and figure out what the problem is, about 15 mins later a bloke just appears from behind the bonnet, compliments the car and asks how the charged version compares to the VR6 as he has previously owned 2 VR's and has been offered a tidy G60...
  17. Saw one earlier parked at the Audi dealer when I went to pick up some parts... friend of one of the mechanics I think, Green H reg 16v
  18. Wait for it........ The local Ford dealer!!! C&R also sell them if your to ashamed to be seen in a Ford dealership!
  19. Yeah, get the whole water pump assembly new from VAG and the starter motor will also be cheaper if you get a decent discount... The thing about VAG exchange parts is the ones they give you are always brand new...
  20. Shatter proof ruler does the job nicely! you may also need some pliers to help unplug the wiring...
  21. Original ones were stuck on for some reason, might take some persuation...
  22. Yeah, thats what I did, supplied a second hand bumper and paid £700 for the full respray including taking out dents etc, the new UV protected lacquer is garauntee'd for £12 years! The only problem with this is you will also want to spend another £500 on replacing all the outer trim, roofstrips, weather strips, window seals etc as none of that will go back in properly again...
  23. Yep, some are some aren't, depending on who made the handles for VW... same with the passat ones...
  24. I've just put the Shrick catalogue in this thread... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 450#231450 Can you not get the gaskets from them?? - It may be worth sending them an email... BTW, Kev, not sure If I showed you but I got the DDS2 device with my kit... Guy, are you using water/methanol or just screenwash..? how much does it use, I take it you use the 7ltr water bottle...?
