VW will treat it as a major service but depending on what has and hasn't been done, there could be loads of other stuff you want to think about - timing chains?, coolant refresh, gbox oil etc....
-
Nice one dude, yeah they don't last forever, I think mine are the original ones so I'll pick up another set at Inters!
-
Cheers Henny, that panel is really rusty on mine, must be all the salt etc off the road gets caught under there and doesnt get washed off, I don't think its structural but i'd rather change it anyway.

6 ltrs including filter / quantum syntha silver (10-40) Oil from VW or GSF - make sure you get the correct filter for your VR
-
Haha - I did mention the tailgate to him and he said he'd have a look it it! Whats a good price for a proper full respray? Probably want to renew some seals at the same time etc....
-
ok cool, I need to get a comparison quote anyway, i'll head down there 2moro if i'm bored at work - Do you think ipswich body repairs are better now? - my red golf was done by them 2 years ago and was spot on! The problem i have now got is that I'm getting one side done and I am tempted to get the other done, plus the front end, rear bumber, tailgate, spoiler, roof etc, know what I mean! - can't really afford it but might think about it later in the summer, see what sort of job they do on this side first!
-
hmmm... getting worried now.. where are MG Kerry?
-
Yeah, I took it to Ipswich body repairs that used to be the VW approved place near adastral park (BT), they will send me a quote - They are good blokes and did a top job on my Golf when it was hit be a coal lorry sliding down my road one winter. They also know about Corrado's etc, I asked him why there not VW approved any more and he says its because they were not making enough from the dealers compared with what they had to pay VW for being approved! Your right about rackhams kev, very expensive and poor quality work!
-
Yeah Kev it was at Martlesham, your right about copdock - thats where I had my incident in brand new company focus a few years ago - had it been there it would probably have been a write off!!
-
Yeah, cheers guys, she took responsibility - it was quite funny as this other woman comes over and starts having a go at her about checking mirrors etc as she had seen what had happened and i also have there details as a witness. The woman mentioned paying me cash but don't think she's expecting to pay as much as its going to be, she looked and the dent and scratch and i think she assumed that they would just paint that bit but being a pearl they need to paint a much bigger area! - at the bodyshop we also discovered altho the door opens/shuts fine, the bottom does not match the rear quarter as if one has been bent in or out as a result of being hit higher up, not sure which has moved tho...
-
and it looks like he's back with some more bits, no pictures again... http://cgi6.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... =3&rows=50 I particuarly like the rear light 'set' which is described as a 'pair'...hmmm

I took the day off work to sort out a few things I didnt get done over xmas, drove to Tesco for a bit of shopping and on my way out some dosey woman reverses out of a space straight into the side of me (stationary) doing just enough damage to require the entire side of the car to be painted, great! :? Thats the second time I have been hit in a Tesco car park, I'm going to exclusivly use sainsburys from now on!! They go on about all these accident blackspots but in my experience supermarket car parks are one of the most dangerous places!

The earlier one which is just a bit of black plastic was available until last year and was £7.50, The later one including the gauges is £109+vat before discount. I wonder if it will fit in the earlier dash without too much hastle, I don't think they are that differnent in size.

sound proofing the c a bit as the entire interior is out :)

There is a UK Vag Com site but you may want to get it straight from Ross Tech (they are the suppliers to the UK place) May also be cheaper with the favourable exchange rate we have at the moment.

I got sent letters this morning from my 2 local dealers inviting me to the mk5 launch evening... which was nice. Interesting the difference between dealers - one sent me a big launch pack and the invite says it will be a champayne evening with canopes made by a local gormet chef, the other just says food and drink available! Funnier still the one that sent the pack was the one a 'borrowed' a mk4 150 TDI from and took it back needing new front tyres and probably brakes as well, It also didnt drive straight any more, stange that? I'm suprised there letting me anywhere near a mk5!
-
I doubt its the pump, change the filter anyway and it might make it less noisy, as for the missfire, how old are the plugs / leads / dizzy etc. I would check the plugs and then try the mist test - spray a mist of water of the HT areas and look for any 'fireworks'
-
I think there are early and late ones Brian as they were an option on G60's and they only came with the sliders.
-
The hatch on my mums mk3 golf flys up when you open it, but i think its alot lighter than the corrado one with the spoiler and so on.
-
If they are the earlier 'slidy' mk2 controls then you need - 191 919 243D - bulb and holder, not sure if the later round ones use the same or not?
-
Yeah you need to buy the unit, only a fiver from the dealer.
-
was the car up to running temp at the time?
-
the best check would be to call VW customer services with the VIN number, check the registration and the colour it should be!
-
It would be a good starting point to find someone local with VAGcom to see if you have any faulty sensors and then look into the usual causes.

What car do you have?? depending on what engine you have you may want to search for the following - cold start injector, fuel pump, ISV, coilpack and so on
