  1. It hasn't really moved for about a month now :( the dash is all back in place though :)
  2. Here's another one of those 'I did it too' replies.. My car managed to write off a pug 306 whilst only sustaining a small crease in the rear bumper but my insurance insist the cost of the damage to the 306 was nearly £1700 (about £1690 more than it was worth). If karma really rules the world i expect to see a rise in the number of spontaneous human combustion cases.

    Windy noise

Both mine and jon_vr6's are noisy around the interior door handles especially if they are stiking out a bit.
  4. Leave earlier and tell his neighbours to get a life! Yes, its this kind of problem solving which means my own car runs like spanners in a tumble dryer.
  5. I've got a dilema.. I've had my car for nearly 4 and a half years and if i'm entirely honest all it has done has cost shedloads of money. Its still fun and i really enjoy it but the constant niggling problems are starting to affect my life ie i need a reliable car to get to uni and the schools i'm going to be doing placements in and i can't trust it to do this. I'm quite sentimental about my car and i would really love to keep it on the road but i can't have 2 cars and a bike and i can't afford for it to let me down in the next year or so. It is already giving me grief at the moment because it keeps blowing the same fuse (for the indicators) and i haven't got the time to take it to a garage. Ideally i would like to swap the engine (1.8T would be nice :) ) but i don't know whether it is worth it when i could buy a tidy G60 or VR for less. The tax runs out at the end of November and the MOT is due in early December so i've got some thinking to do. Can anyone offer some opinions/suggestions?
  6. I've got a few spare but i bet its not any of those.
  7. Typical, fixed one ot two things and something else goes AGAIN!! This time it is my indicators, they suddenly stopped working driving home the other day so i changed the fuse (17) and it was all good. The key was in the ignition but the engine wasn't running when i chanaged the fuse but the next time i drove it, it happened again. Is this due to a dodgy earth wire or bulb and what do i look for? If anyone can help me i'd be really grateful as i can't drive it without indicators (ok for beemer pilots but not for me) and i really need a car this week. Thanks, Kate
  8. I use a dry paintbrush for that and the vents. The clocks don't seem to fit in their place properly either and there is no handle or anything inside the bootlid so you can pull it down without getting your hands dirty.
  9. This wouldn't happen to me, the chocolate doesn't get time to melt :)
  10. Oh yeah your going Germany aint you would have loved to have done it but really dont want to put more milage on the storm atm! make sure you take loads of piccies at the karmann museum. Arnt your lights tinted anyway or are you going darker!
  11. Exhaust, alarm, paint.... list is slowly getting smaller! Didnt you buy an oil coller for cheap at stanford hall?
  12. It was a dodgy heater matrix so as the weather was nice i thought i'd have a go myself at sorting it myself but i'm glad i didn't... Looks like i'm on the bike again tomorrow (please don't rain please don't rain please don't rain)
  13. I'm almost lost for words.. that is truly hideous and such a waste.
  14. I suppose it is satin, it was my pick of the day and i really need one! :)
  15. :notworthy: my next wheels! Not in that colour scheme though, although blackberry with matt black CH's :luvlove: Awesome Rob, that will look really good. Hide the brake dust too :norty: I've seen them in Red/black on a black Mk5 Gti and it tied in well with the car's bodywork and obvious red detailing. I think matt colours show off design lines well, just like a clay sculpture would for example. Here's a greenun from the tex: As you can see, it is easy to spot all the lines on the car. I find Satin Silver and White Cs can show their lines well as standard. Dark colours are more reflective so tend to hide their lines.[/quote:9c1m79el] I wasn't a massive fan of matt paintwork until i saw this at the motor show on saturday..
  16. I just checked the carpets and the passenger footwell is damp but that may be because my dad has been cleaning it (it's the going rate for borrowing it for a day) i'll ask him whether it was already damp when i see him.
  17. I only started to notice the windows steaming up recently, i don't think i mentioned it to the mechanic. Looks like i (we) will be changing the heater matrix fairly soon then.
  18. i've not checked the carpets, i've not really been using it since i got the bike. i will do though.
  19. Here we go.. my car keeps losing water, not when it is standing but when i drive it. It wasn't much at first but now it has to be filled for pretty much every short journey. The windows also keep steaming up and there is a whiff of something burning?? don't know what the somethng is or if it is me being paranoid. The last time it was in the garage the mechanic said it was likely to be the water pump but i didnt get it checked out any further because there were other problems to sort. Is a dying water pump a likely cause and if so where will i get a replacement? And also, is there much difference between a VW item and a non-genuine item? Thanks, Kate.
  20. I just spent so long writing this list i missed out on some leathers on ebay. Typical. :bad-words:
  21. My to do list:- 1. Sort the missing water mystery, its probably the water pump again (my own fault for buying third party crap) 2. Fix the rattle on my exhaust 3. Fit my newly tinted all red rear lights 4. Get the bent wing sorted and refit the front bumper properly (i still need a front wing for the drivers side, preferably in moonlight blue) 5. Replace the rear wiper motor which has given up 6. Sort the electric wing mirrors (they've never worked though) 7. Find a late style headlight for the passenger side (to replace the early one i bought which looks like the car is squinting) 8. Fit the JBL components i bought for the frontt doors 9. Buy a new jack for the boot (standard issue scissor jack died) 10. Re-trim my seats in dark grey leather 11. Stick down the rubber seal around the windscreen 12. Fix the door pin on the passenger door so it can be unlocked from the inside 13. Replace the front splitter which is bust 14. Get the stone chips and scratches sorted 15. Get the engine sorted (lots of issues in there i might just get a new one) Not to mention all the things i'd like to do rather than the stuff that needs doing. I would attempt some of this if it would STOP BLOODY RAINING! and i didn't have a shiney new bike to play with.
  22. Not just me then. It also wrote off a peugeot (all by itself) at my last job and forced me into a career change.
