Almost finished the strip down, just the expansion tank to remove. All brake lines, ABS pump, clutch and power steering pipes removed.
-
The brake one does look a bit yellow, but still better then the one on mine at the moment.
-
Maybe needs a bit of tyre dressing? You dont realise how corroded the original pipes are till you see those new ones. Dont you think the PAS bottles look a bit green?
-
I have taken my fully working ABS pump off the car so I can paint the bracket and clean the pump. I have a few questions: 1. the 6 outlets where the brake pipes screw into, can these be unscrewed from the main body? They have a hexagon part for a spanner. 2. The 2 outlets on the end that have the flexible larger pipes coming out, these are plastic pipes that seem to be pushed into the pump, do these pull out? I really dont want to wreck the pump as they are quite expensive!!

Identify these silver screws...where are they used ?
ChrisL replied to VWVW's topic in General Car Chat
There are 6 I think that go through the metal bracket into the radiator support but these screws have a plain shank on them and not fully threaded. Dont think they are the splitter screws. They arent the ones that hold the front panel in place are they? -

I have found 2 rear VR6 badges in all my spares stuff. 1 is brand new and still in packaging, never used the other one is nearly as good but missing the self adhesive tape. New one £20 posted nearly new one £15 posted. Taking a punt on these as I didnt get chance to see if these are still available.

The one on my MK5 golf looks the same as my Corrado one.
-
Are they obsolete through ford as well? When I got mine some UK dealers had them on stock as he could check colour before sending them.
-
Well I tried to clean the gearbox last year but still looks awful so thought I'd bite the bullet. Didnt think about pressure washer....bugger! Hope to see your Corrado or Mk1 at a show this year.

Paintwork looks great.

Drop me a text, we are going out around 3ish.

Man cave lol!! It's a nice place to be, got a new digital radio switched to absolute 90's!!! Will be in there Sunday probably and Thursday night if your about.
-
Looks a decent size too.

I remember chris showing me a picture of his with an orange subframe, is this a second or has he taken it off? Its a really good choice but no good for OEM so I think I'll stick with black!! Your going to have to do your front hubs too, be a shame to put rusty hubs back on. I'll read up on r32 bushes I think. Glad your sorted with a garage, miles better for the winter months and safe from vandalism! Is it far from your house?
-
Wow Matt, thats a nice collection of bits. Your corrado is going to be one well sorted machine when its done. i like the choice of subframe colour, who did your blasting and powder coating? Also, why R32 rear bushes? Just thinking this is all stuff I'll be needing soon.

Pull out the engine, its the way forward!!
-
I'm going to check the tensioners as there is a slight leak from the casing where it meets the head gasket. dont think i fancy tackling the chains, clutch is perfect though! Didn't know they where different, will have to check it out.

Good day on the car today, a mate from work came round to help me get the engine out. Suprised how easy the engines come out and we only had 1 snapped bolt which was the passenger side engine mount bolt. The local 'busy body' popped in the garage and asked what we were doing and I told him we were taking the engine out to clean it. I may be old but I'm not stupid he replied........... so much to learn! So left with this now: Engine on its stand ready for cleaning: Tomorrow nights job is to start removing the subframe and suspension.
-
Love the headlining Matt, its really going to be a nice place to be when its done. You might have to come and do my headlining.

I got a socket handle between the rail and the inlet manifold and gently levered it starting at one end, can you spin the injectors? They were really tight.
-
Perfect picture for me for weekend! Thanks!!! The injector rail is secured to the manifold with 4 bolts, take these off then the fuel rail gently prises off the injectors. Just pull slowley, its just the o ring that holds them in.

With my engine coming out on Sunday, Im borrowing a Clarke 500 Engine stand that I was going to mount it on while I clean/paint, change the sump. Has anybody mounted a VR6 on such a stand as I'm after ideas on where it mounts. The gearbox will be removed first. Cheers

I like the wheels, just the back wheels look like they need a bit of fine tuning on the picture. It may be just a bad angle.
