Quick update so the thread doesn't vanish! Car is currently on standard wheels while I get my new wheels tomorrow! Had my rear beam shot blasted a bit ago but following a leak at work it now needs doing again. Spent a few hours this week with a sander smoothing certain areas before getting it re-blasted again. Photos when I can as my laptop won't connect to Internet!

Thanks James, that's the problem. Ideally I need 2 corrados, 1 standard the other mine! Thanks I may well take you up on the offer. Well looks like a decision is made on how my car will be, got a good deal on some wheels today so looks like it will stay OEM+ for the time being and just get a complete underbody makeover! Thanks for all the help with the suspension, it may come in useful someday. And thanks for the email Paul, I can get all the rear beam parts from it now.

A rubber grommet on a car of this standard....
-
Only joking James, would probably be less confusing when / if I go down the standard route and start getting parts. I've only driven a standard VR once, I nearly bought one in 1999 but being 24 with a house, I couldnt afford the 11k price tag. So being that long go I can't really remember. I guess you are keeping the campaign standard? I just can't decide, I think it's because if I sell the RS's I wouldn't be able to get another set.

Well if I wasn't confused on what to do, I certainly am now lol!!! I thought I would be able to go to a shop and buy a standard assembly that would replace the coilovers fitted. Checked out the Bilstien B4 and they look good, but now there is the spring type issue etc etc.....

Thanks for all the info guys. Thanks James, If I decide to the car will be going back to 100% standard with a view to Concours level??? So dont mind alternative to OE parts as long as the ride height and appearnace would be correct. I dont have loads to change as the car only really has coilovers, wheels and all red rears. The electric recaros where fitted to Corrados as standard anyway. That would be great thanks Paul. I know it wont be cheap but if I sold the RS's I would have plenty money to go at. Would the Bilstein B4 give standard appearance and height? Do Bilstein do the springs to? Mine is a 95.

I suppose I would consider second hand if I could get a set that is decent and could be made "as new". Not decided what to do yet as I would need to sell the RS's to fund it. Seen lots of concours standard cars recently and it really appeals to me.
-
The car is currently fitted with H&R coil overs and am thinking of going back 100% standard. Not sure what parts I would need, thought I could buy a complete setup like when buying coilovers.

Would anyone know if you can still get standard suspension from vw or is it obsolete now? If so, how much do you think all 4 corners would be?

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4204630.htm Another low miler here. Look like replica BBS's to me. "Unmolested" (apart from the repaint, stainless exhaust, looks lowered, no side trims). And at least the other bloke bothered with more then 1 picture.

I've just bought a new Gearknob for the VR so have my old one spare. It's in good condition but the leather has just gone a bit shiny over time. Couple of tiny marks but no tears in the leather and the stitching is all in tact. Can't get my computer to connect to the Internet at the moment but can email pictures from my phone for anyone interested. £10 plus postage. Chris

What was you waiting for from MJ Interiors? Looks beautiful, personally I think the rear wiper should stay. To remove it without paint means an awful rubber grommet, which isn't a good look for a car like that. Also, maybe go for all black badges on the rear.

There's a mk2 golf gti for sale on edition38 with BBS RM's. I want it for a winter run around so if someone wants to make him a cheap offer for the car and sell it on without the RM's!!! http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=465040

We had a good day today and always plenty to do. Met some old faces and some new ones which is good. Well done to Judith and Kip on their wins! Apparently I scored well into the 80's on the points which I was told was very respectable, i'll have to try a bit harder for next year. Steve, you had to pre-book for show and shine and they had little pre-printed slips for each car to be judged. Car looked good on the BBS's and prefer the new number plate.

Congratulations on the win today Paul. The car looked fantastic and as if it had been in storage straight from the factory. The underside is just how I want mine, so if you miss laying under Corrado, feel free to pop over!
-
Cheers Paul, I'll use you as a part number directory as I'm sure there will be more bits I need when I start looking! Shame about the steering but at least it gives you something else to do.
-
WOW Kip, that looks better then new and credit to all your hard work. Can't wait to have a look over it on Sunday. Makes me want to strip the back end of mine even more now. The brake lines and bias valve look great, where did you get the bias valve screws from? I need to get hold of some.

Looks spot on. Any pics of the engine bay?
-
You get used to it as mine was known as 'Bills old car', but now not so much. You definately need to bring it to Harewood as I didnt get chance to look over the engine bay at Tatton Park last week. Did you get it with the RS's???????
-
Bloody hell!! Lucky, lucky man. Did you get the RS's with it??????
-
With your skills I would go down the bay window campervan restoration. Get one needing body restoration but go with a serious engine and running gear and dropped to the floor. That way its going to be pretty quick, useful for the family (not 2 seater) and will hold value when its finished if its kept OEM looking. I'd love to do this.

Thanks Jon, your looked pretty cool too, tried to get in behind you off the slip road but missed the lane, I slowed a bit for you to catch up but I think you must have turned off.

Didn't get chance to speak with you James but Oscar was brilliant, he was a real pleasure to chat with and his singing and dancing had us in stitches!!! Didnt take any pictures, I always forget to. Got a proper T-shirt tan though!

What a fantastic day today and a great turnaround in the weather. I spent all Saturday cleaning the car with the weather telling me it was going to rain but by Saturday night all change. Really enjoyed chatting with everyone today and also meeting one or 2 new faces, this makes a good show into a great show in my opinion. Corrado owners really are a friendly bunch of folk. Didnt get chance to say bye to everyone as it came a bit dark and we made a split decision to head off. Not sure if you got any rain at Tatton this afty but when we hit Leeds, the heavens opened and the road was like a river (no exaggeration). Anyway, great day and bring on Harewood.

Anyone see the 15 year old Lithuanian breaststroke girl? She was fantastic and won gold. Her coach at Plymouth, he used to swim at our club as a lad and sometimes comes up here and has coached my daughter a few times. Random I know, but I was well impressed, an Olympic coach has coached my daughter!!
