  1. If your down in Southampton it may be worth having a chat with JKM in Pompey, im hearbing a lot of good things about those guys at the moment...
  2. Ive got a set in mine, they dont fit properly and ive had to use an impact adhesive to stick them on properly.. Anyone else found this problem as well? What combination of pedal did people use? Ive got a LHD accelerator and two clutch covers i think.....
  3. It should indeed, the refrigerant in the system lubricates the seals and prevents them from drying out/going brittle.. Sounds like it could need a regass.. One thing at a time though mate - cooling first..
  4. Im assuning this is a VR if so BMC is the one to go for.. Id just get the bolts from the dealers..
  5. check the history, plenty of evidence of oil changes should make the chains ok. If there is proof of a tensioner change then that would be good. If the chains arent rattling then that is generally an indication that they are ok. Should you buy it may be worth doing the tensioners and inspecting the chains. Price for chains, tensioners, clutch (do it while your in there) plus labour is going to be hefty (700 ish depending where its done).Worth saying that engines have ran the chains a lot longer than that.. The brakes sound like they could be TT 312mm, nice to have but can be picked up at a reasonable price from a scrappy, Recaros - leather or Cloth? Grey cloth is the least desirable from what ive seen. What does he want for it and where is it, Pm if you like...
  6. Just saw these pictures over on Edition and with those new wheels this car needs to go on a diet!!!!! Awesome...
  7. I dont even like red Corrados but Greeny yours is class, love that rear bumper.. Hope im going to get to see this next weekend at Elsecar, you may be driving home with a green rear bumper if you dont keep an eye on it... :)
  8. Agreed more info is needed and dirt isnt the end of the world.. Find out about the history of the car and id barter in the fact that the car needs a service and mot BEFORE youd be prepared to buy it, that way the nasty suprises come his way and not yours. 3.5 grand for a storm isnt bad but not one thats sat doing nothing.. Let us know how you get on..
  9. Radiator is a front of the car off job, probably can be done with it on but if you got the aircon condensor infornt of that it will just be as easy to take it off. Taken nice and steady its a good half days work..
  10. For me the Golf brings out the sillyness in the driving, it really does get better the harder you drive it and its so nimble. It really is great fun...
  11. Im quite a fan of the first Leons,i had a diesel for 2 years from 6 months old and it was great, she was a 110 with all the toys. Ok so not the driving enjoyment of a Corrado but great for what it was and ive another straight away..
  12. Well ive got another one because i want another one, simple as that really and shes a Mk2 16v, great fun in a different way to the Corrado..
  13. Looks awesome, some serious skill been put into that, look forward to seeing the finsihed item..
  14. Cheers mate, hasnt changed that much really just the little bits that have been getting the treatment.. I dont think ill go as far as a 9" on the rear (sounds a bit dodgy :) ), reckon an 8.5 on the back and a 7.5 on the front is the look im fancying, always thought id go for a set that were all built up, mint with tyres etc but am starting to think i may go for a set that are a bit rough and start again - new dishes, bolts etc etc then i can get them exactly how i want them... I know its early days but the front brakes are going silver at the weekend in anticipation of them arriving, dont think the red would look right.. Tank straps came off yesterday and have gone to the powedercoaters for some love along with a few brackets, bits and bobs...
  15. I know mate, gonna be strong though, ive waited a long time another couple of months wont hurt.. I have kep my eye on the German Ebay, i think when the time comes id rather go and see the wheels before i hand over the money but if there is a bargain to be had.. What widths are those on the rear, you used any spaceing?? The do look the part..
  16. I remember seeing you but im sure the car was in for repair at the time...
  17. Not had the pleasure of seeing this one in the metal but it looks lovely...
  18. Happy with those pictures, very nicely done...
  19. You know what im like and yes Gareths car is the standard and style that i try to pitch mine towards. I dont think you need worry about mine though mate and ive said exactly the same about your and Judiths that i am glad its a different challenge, the fact you guys dont have any mods to gain the wow factor is a huge statement in itself.. Im down to that bolt on modification now, its 20 bolts and ill be a happy boy... I am indeed after the RSs mate and i cannot think of anything else id be happy putting on the car...
  20. James - yes mate i got the breather on saturday but your one got me up to Telford without oil vpour going all over the shop so im well grateful, ill bring the bit you lent me back up North (weekend after next) and will pop round and say hello if your free. Im bringing the Rado up as on the way back down im taking it to Elsecar. Looking forward to seeing how your has changed... :) A 3 spoke revival, now your talking, i can remember when they were actually the thing to have and i remember lusting after a set of Fiesta RS Turbo 3 spokes to put on my XR2 wannabe.. Got to admit id love another Fiesta in the not to distant but that would mean bye bye Golf...
  21. Im away for 3 months so will miss everything this year. May change but its looking fairly likely. Guess 2009 will be when the changes get revealed then..
  22. I thought youd like it Dave... :) You are right about the wheels. My problem is i know ive done loads of stuff to the car but the bit that is going to make the big difference is the wheels. Small changes make good cars but these are the subtle things that you see on a close inspection. Its getting that balance for the factory + look but still giving it a bit of proper stance.. Think its a good thing im going to sea in June as there isnt much point doing anything until i come back otherwise i could feel a major purchase coming on. It will be something to look forward to while im away..
  23. Had a great weekend up at UDs, this is the only picture i have at the moment kindly supplied by CrazyDave as the ones itook are on other people cameras that ill get my hands on shortly.. Really pleased to have picked up an as new (literaly) steering wheel on saturday and what a huge difference it has made. Next plans starting tomorrow are tank straps off for some paint and front calipers coming off for some fresh paint.. This weekend has confirmed the point to me that im not happy with the wheels, it just doesnt have the impact id like wearing the originals so it will only be attending 1 or 2 more things until they will make way for something with a bit more of a wow factor...
  24. And pleased you should be Dave, looking very nice...
