dirtytorque replied to Jay2's topic in General Car Chat

Hi mate. Its been a long week and I'm feeling a bit lazy. Need sleep. Have a read of this and post up about anything you don't understand. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1784212 enjoy.

well done mate. I hope you don't need that fire extinguisher though. Would be a shame to torch all your hard work. :)

Looks like an r32 on steroids. -
i'll be working on mine over the winter, however I'm going to re-new the tax next month so I can have a play when I feel the need. And so that it is legal to drive so it can be tuned etc. Not going to use it as a daily drive though.

I love how you have turned this around.

It just makes sense to go MS rather than buying a genric chip which would not be optimum IMO. 16VT? I considered it for a while, but no. I'm going to stick with the charger.Just trying to make the best out of what I already have.

Megasquirt. Build g6016v engine. Sell kidney to help pay for it.

So the old ecu stays in?
-
How are you incorporating your clocks into this. What I mean is what features of your clocks are dependent on your current ECU ? Actually,i'd be interested to hear what anyone who has gone down a similar route had to say on this matter;not just the beige one. Sorry Mr beige for hijacked post. You can have it back after . :)

#1 Hammer in a spline socket and wrench out as usual or if all else fails use irwin bolt grippers, available from machinemart, screwfix etc.

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

That is a nice g60 example. -
...i'm thinking more along the lines of just having as much info as possible post install. So it would probably look a bit "back to the future ish  I would hide it all after that once it was running stable.
-
Thats really interesting. The colour coding helps.(Helped me anyway :D ) You can see at about 4.5k where it can't breath anymore and the torque starts to drop off. Incredible figures though for a g60 block. Thanks for sharing.

Just so your well informed, removing the snorkel is said to remove a little low down grunt. I have never tried it on my G so I can't testify to this.. I run the intake as stock and will continue to do so for as long as i own my G60. Enjoy.
-
Agreed. I've seen that. Was thinking about that myself. For me I hate not being able to have access to live engine parameters and sensor conditions like you can on a VR. The G60 ecu is very much a black box. For me,its got to be megasquirt next step. 8) So it will be nice to have easy access to engine parameters either via laptop or via a unit like megaview. Keep up the bad work. :D

 you little tinkerer you..

sooty deposits on your plugs will also indicate a rich mixture.

8) So your squirting yours rite?! Have you started that aspect of the install or are you going to worry about that after??
