VR6 Ignition leads... VW no longer supply! :(
seanl82 replied to -=Kris=-'s topic in Suppliers Forum
How do you rate the dubpower leads Kev? Your obviously a man with experience, and I have a set of magnecor leads but I have to force them into the guides, and they're also blue which isn't a great colour combo with a green car imo. I've been thinking of replacing them with dubpower standard black is all, then selling on the current set. Cheers mate! -
Tried to remove mine today. What a bloody nightmare! It's not coming off. I cut the lip off but the pivot arm still won't reach over the metal. Think I'm gonna have to do it from below. I'm assuming it's easily accessible under the heatshield with the exhaust removed if anyone knows?

Check the first page of this thread. All covered there.

No worries mate, good to meet you too. Hopefully catch up in the not too distant with the cars as well. :thumbleft:

I'm in the car club tomorrow lunchtime if your still around Goldie? Pretty sure I have the lot from the 2.8 I bought if Chris's don't meet your requirements. You can have a look over them to make sure you're happy then if you like.

Have a look in events and announcements mate. Weekend of 24th May. Sorry for cluttering your thread Gar!

 Nah it's ok mate, I can't expect them to reserve me a set until I'm ready or anything. Fingers crossed they have them in stock when the time comes though. As soon a funds are in my account, it'll be ready to go but I'll have to wait until I'm booked in for respray anyway, so that'll give me another couple of months I expect to find a pair.

Mine are 17x7.5, ET 35 with 205/40 tyres and they are absolutely perfect. Never had a hint of rubbing although I'm not as low as you mate. 205 width give a very slight stretch, but nowhere near the point of being unsafe mate.

What's the offset James?

Well done you Sir! Let's just hope they're still available when I can order them in a month or so. Just need roof gutter strips, wing mirror seals, outer door trims, sunroof seal..............
-
Cross member, skirt, fan shroud, bonnet stay, and a box full of engine bay brackets now in for blasting and nylon coating. Ordered remaining parts required from TPS too so it's all out reassembly when I get back a week Friday! Yay!!! Pleasantly surprised with the price of everything too!

Pro-active engine refurbishment/rebuild - costs at a garage?

I think power is pretty negligible with the 2.9 inlet on the 2.8 block and head. It's the inlet that restricts most apparently. -
Wheels look awesome Gar, top work!

Forgive my stupidity, but I've never seen a set not in place, so can someone confirm these are correct and both sides available from Heritage??? http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_parts_Door-Window-Seals_act_page.render_pageID_1816.htm Thanks!

Thank you all, means alot when coming from all of you with such good ones. I can invisige a car I'll be extremely proud of now! Rog, best thing is, the return of service for the FRI finishes before the RoS for course and they run concurrently, so it's free money for me!

Watch those prices rise - its says so here!

Thing is mate, there are 17 year old lads that work for me who have more money than I do the day after pay day. (When the bills come out). I did have a very enjoyable time in my younger years too though! Unfortunately I'm paying for it now.......... -

Even this won't cover a 993 mate. Goldie on the other hand being a submariner......... Well, they had one in December that is more than twice ours, and I think they're having another one again shortly! -
Not tried to post a sale ad yet, but it takes ages to load the page if going through the shortcut, and pricing seems to be a little confused for some items? It's good that it has a seller star rating and that will be a great tool for buyers and sellers alike, but I think a few kinks still need to be ironed out.

993. Droooooooollll! -
I agree in that they are very novel and quite fun for a short while, but other than basic cruise control which is good on a quiet motorway, I never feel as relaxed when driving with "aids". (No big A jokes!). I find I have to concentrate more and become hyper aware with these things, and just end up becoming more and more agitated that it doesn't do what I want to do, especially even with a small amount of road traffic. Driving is usually a pleasurable experience for me, and "toys" do nothing to enhance the driving experience.

Thanks chaps. Not as much work done as I'd hoped, and tps and the powdercoaters were both close Saturday so off to revisit them tomorrow. Gearbox will be cleaned again and painted up on Thursday, so when parts arrive it should be all hands to the pump to reassemble. We are away for a week from Friday, but should have a solid few days when we get back to work on it. A few pics. DSC_0013_zpspv8jb971DSC_0014_zps4fvclghl Cheeky VR6 badge I finally got hold of for relatively sensible money! Top chain guide that I found to be broken. New one ordered. Block after a good scrub and wire wheel. And after a bit of paint. Done a few more bits and pieces but will get them up with a nice big update soon. In other news, I've found out today (not an April fool) that we'll be having quite a significant retention bonus from work. Doubt it'll all be processed and in my hand for a couple of months what with easter leave commencing on Friday, but this means that I will have more than enough left over after I've paid off my debts and booked a holiday, to book the car in for a full respray and all the exterior parts that are likely to need replacing etc, which has made me a very happy boy indeed! Good times ahead!!!

Pull the boot up and underneath is a simple spade connector. Simply push it onto the new sensor, and slide the boot back down the wire to keep it safe from the elements. Job done!

Daves16v does some nice shiny replacements if they're beyond salvaging. Have a look in the suppliers forum.
