£45 from AVS, considerably more from VW! Don't know personally Chris tbh, assumed it'd be hugely expensive for what it is so didn't bother even asking.

Have a search Rog, think it was Hofmeister that posted some pics of his all done. There's a guide in the wiki too for replacing the matrix which should give you an idea of how to access it, although I think to get the heaterbox out, it'll be dash out. There was also a thread recently about what to use to replace the foam seals. I think it was a.self adhesive wickes supplied stuff that was suggested, which is pretty much what I used when I did mine. I used heat reflective tape to cover the holes in the flap itself. No idea the reasoning for VW to use foam originally, but it seemed like a stupid idea to me, and I also have no idea why there are large holes in the flap in the first place.

Oh ffs. Another who's had their engine out and returned looking better than new. The time and cost I've spent on mine and it seems like loads of people have done the same, and mine will look nowhere near as good as the others. Top work as usual Dave, progressing even further from an award winner! :thumbleft:

It's strange, I've heard loads of people say it's temperamental, yes I've never once had a problem getting on and into the catalogue. I too use it as a reference for part numbers and as a guide if I've forgotten where something goes!

I wouldn't trust a used one tbf. Unless there was a refurbished kit available that is? I just took my slave kit off to find the seals knackered, so I bought a new one from Vwspares. Your welcome to my old one for postage if you can find the seals and don't need it this week. I didn't even know it was duff until removing it during my refurb.

I asked the very same a while back Rog. Didn't get much reply, and Plymouth Tps wouldn't entertain it at the time for a "club" after I enquired, although were happy to sell to the public. I asked Wednesday exactly the same thing in Pompy for Collingwood Car club as there is a large VAG following there, but without a trade credit account (which I was not prepared to give my CC details) as they expect regular sales from trade accounts, and they explained there would be hassle on both sides if there was a period of no expenditure (maybe not such an issue here), but said on production of ID they would sell at trade price. Not sure exactly how much trade get off, but they gave me 12.5%. Worth asking again though as I'm sure if you speak to someone with a bit of clout, they could do it for you. Think I spoke to a general sales assistant type that was a bit of a tool back then though.......... Again, other forums have it, and I think it was CGTI I was told back then that had an account.

Good work Hasan. I've just bought an ultrasonic cleaner to do my injectors too. What did you use as a solution to clean them, or was it just warm water? Also how much of the body did you submerge, or was it just the tip? Just worried about causing damage to any electrical components within is all. To be fair, the tips of mine look spotless, but who knows how much crud is hiding in the main body..........

I've not driven a G60 but have had a 1.8 16v, and now own a Vr. I don't think there's much difference tbh. Remember the G60 is narrow track compared to a Vr, so will go round a corner just as well imo. Personally though, the Seat will still probably handle much better imo. It's a newer car and streets ahead in terms of chassis and suspension design, so not only is it capable of eeking more power out of it than either G60 or vr6, it'll handle much better, and be more reliable too. No one will stand in the spectator area watching you go round like they would in a Corrado though!

The insert looks the same, but the top and bottom caps are different. I'd assume the inserts are different grade rubber too as the front is supporting more weight than the rear right. There must be a good reason the front is so much more expensive than the rear.

That's it mate. I think we all need to go for what we as individuals want, and not be too drawn into the crowd. For me, it was seeing ChrisL's car at national day last year and thinking 'that's what I want my car to be like'. A truly stunning and mostly original example, with just the right amount of choice mods. That's the way I like things, although I appreciate the more modified one's if done right (like yours ) look immense!

Thanks Rob, I hope so mate. I went for nylon coat as suggested by ChrisL, as it's much more hard wearing. It was only available in semi-gloss, but the samples I saw don't look shiny and bling at all which is what I was hoping for. I was really surprised at the price too. I expected it to be more than it would be for paint as it's longer lasting, and I expected it to be around the £150 mark for blasting and a standard powder. It would have been £60-70 for standard, and £100-110 (£100 for cash) for nylon so I went with that! They were recommended by Martin (vr6south) too as he's used them before, so I'm confident it will be a good job. I still have a few things I want to do before and after paint for it to perfect, but I think I'll be able to achieve it in the next 12-18 months which I'm quite pleased about for the moment. :smug:

See that looks good Rob. Mine are 8mm though and blue, so want to change them for something that looks more original. :thumbleft:

Almost everything got now. The knock sensor I ordered a week ago still hasn't come, and picking up the final bits from Tps and the stuff I put in for coating tomorrow before we set off for the week. Missus sussed the ultrasonic cleaner was never initially intended for her as soon as it arrived though! :shrug:
