  1. The Jap scene love all that jazz though! I was disappointed I have to admit. Looked a good example apart from the cooling system before. Looking forward to the 2CV next week though!
  2. If only about a month ago, and I can't really afford it for a few months now. :(
  3. You can get the seals individually from Vw spares (avs) for less than two quid each too. I just bought a set.
  4. Obsolete from dealer now. Best option is the hella ones. Available from oemparts for about £140.
  5. Got to admit, that looks very tidy indeed! Good effort there chap!

  7. So passenger side looks like it's toeing out Rob?
  8. Ooh, I had my renewal through yesterday with classicline offering for £247. Will look into this!
  9. Needs more than that now apparently mate! We let that house now, and the tenant has told us it's trashed so I'm replacing it when I go down there at the end of April.
  10. I had a like for like courtesy car when,I was hit too. Ended up with a bloody Mg6!
  11. Save it mate. Mine was in a far worse state than that (although no real rust) and it's not even a real Storm! The satisfaction come the end is worth it trust me. :thumbleft:
  12. Oh dear! We're there any symptoms that it had broken like that? I noticed on my strip down that my top guide rail had snapped in two. The chains and the lot were replaced less than 6k ago too so not good. I have noticed over the last thousand miles or so that mine had become more noisy but put it down to a worn head. On the plus side, you caught it before serious damage occurred!
  13. Thanks for the heads up mate, I'll do that then. I've got my crossmember, fan shroud, front skirt thing, and all the engine bay brackets (apart from the ones for earthing) to go in. Ive just painted my block this evening as well actually. Just the powdercoating and an order in to tps tomorrow too, and I should be ready for reassembly by next weekend hopefully. I get what you mean about spiralling costs though. There are a few additional bits I wish I could have done at the Same time, but I just need to draw a line. It's just aesthetics though and nothing difficult to do later down the line with the engine in situ.
  14. Very nice Chris. I have a fair few bit in the boot ready to take to the powdercoaters tomorrow as it happens. :smug: When does the rebuild commence then?
  15. There are repair kits for the flexible outer ring, but if it's the cone I think he's bang out of luck.
  16. I ordered a febi top guide rail last night. My genuine chain "kit" has been in about 6k miles and I noticed yesterday when I took the top cover off that the middle bolt hole had broken off, and the guide had snapped in two. Another part I hadn't banked on having to replace during the "clean up".

  18. Looks well that Richard. Top work so far mate. :thumbleft:
  19. Joe, do you have the part numbers for these if they are different please? Only one is shown on etka with part number 357 121 210. I'm pretty sure they are different is all. Cheers mate!
  20. Good to know, thanks for updating. I'll be making an order Saturday so I'll add these to the list. :thumbleft:
  21. There are two pieces to the intake Ray, an upper and a lower. Little bit fiddly getting the bolts out but not too difficult. It's all monkey see monkey do. There are two metal gaskets, one between upper and lower, and one between lower and block. These are metal gaskets so provided they're not too corroded, a bit of gasket sealant will suffice. Either way they're not too expensive to replace and are quite readily available. There's a paper gasket for the throttle body though, which I'd recommend you replace if you take it off. As for the lower part, you can't remove it without removing the injector rail, but it can't really be seen when everything is in place, so I'd just do the upper if your not going balls out mate.
