    That's the only one mate.
  2. Oh and the season started with such optimism. Alas, we've probably narrowly avoided relegation. Sean O'dismall has been shown the door, and Steve Cottrell is now at the helm. Not a huge fan of his and wasn't overly pleased when he took over due to the style of football his team's seem to play, but being honest league 1 is never going to play Barca style possession pass and move football is it! To be fair, he seems to have turned things round. Made some very shrewd loan signings who are available on frees in the Summer, are making all the right noises about wanting a permanent contract at the club, and they've made a huge difference too. That coupled with a bit of enthusiasm which is obviously infectious, but which O'Dismall was severely lacking in, has turned around our fortunes. If the season had started when SC took over, we'd be fourth now! This time I'll be quietly optimistic at the start of next season!
  3. I've never owned one but had the opportunity to drive a Red 944 with not so contrasting brown cloth interior in 2.5litre S flavour. To say I was underwhelmed is an overstatement, although I had to make all the right noises to the friend that owned it at the time! To me now, the 944 cries badge snob. It was marketed as the affordable Porsche for the masses, and as such everything seemed to be pretty limp. I may have been expecting more with it being a Porsche, but I just feel there are far better cars around, even of the same vintage for less money. That coupled with horrendous parts and servicing costs will ensure I never contemplate owning one. Just my opinion mate.
  4. I got locked out with the engine running on my old valver too! Luckily I'd been in the engine bay so bonnet was up. Pulled the king lead which was still sparking like a good Un, so disconnected the battery to kill, the engine. Cost me £80 I think it was for an auto locksmith to take about 30 seconds to pull the door pin up and get in!
  5. Quite a few of you guys from the States popping up here recently, welcome! In truth, VW Vortex or TheCorradoClubofCanada are probably your best bet for finding out where to source parts over the pond. Stick around here though, we're a friendly bunch!
  6. Gents, very kind words thank you. It's certainly never going to be concourse, or even a show winner, I do however see a light at the end of the tunnel albeit very dim still. Rob, you have nothing to worry about mate, all that's done so far will be interior and out of sight under the bonnet. It's still a bit tatty on the exterior, which is where you'll show mine what it's all about! I'll be booking the full body respray in the next two months though hopefully, so maybe by the end of the year I'll have a good un' on the outside too! Over next winter will be head rebuild/replacement, and front and rear axle and underside refirb, and then it's replacing the chopped up wiring looms for uncut ones hopefully. All good plans get scuppered but something unaccounted for though as we know, so I'm not sticking to that plan fastideously. That seems like a massive and expensive list, but most of that is already budgeted for which helps. It's kind of strange that I'll then be in a position (provided I don't have any major snags) where things really don't need doing, and it be just finicky little jobs that are mostly personal preference................ Maybe it'll be time to sell up and start again with a new one but go forced induction then!:norty::cuckoo:
  7. Bit more done yesterday. Picked up powdercoated bits then set about getting everything back together ready to go in. Almost there now, just need to check a few photos which were on my old phone and didn't have it with me. Also started on the interior. Stripped and prepped most of it ready for recolour, and coloured the acoustic carpet that will make up the new parcel shelf. A few pics. Should get a bit more done Friday and maybe monday. Fingers crossed all goes to plan!

    Vr6 engine bolts

Not a problem. Call it a tenner + post and I'll bung in a few goodies as well.

    Vr6 engine bolts

Yeah got a front mount bracket although it's a bit rough. I'll give it a quick go over with a wire brush for you. I also have the and bolts if you need them too?

    Vr6 engine bolts

I've got everything you need but won't be able to get them now until Friday if no one comes in sooner. Fiver plus postage ok?
  11. Sexual mate! Mines pretty much ready to go back in now, and like you say all those powdercoated items can barely be seen!
  12. Having a bit of a mare. Trying to fit new cross member bushes but having no luck and getting frustrated now. I've tried a long nut and bolt to pull them through, but they just keep deforming. Anyone got any tips or is it a trip to a local garage with a press? Thanks all.
  13. Used Redline Mt90 too. Uses just under two Us quarts, so two litres is enough Chris.
  14. Looks a very nice example! To widen your search, all mk3 Golf Gti's (8v & 16v) and VR6s from 95 onwards had 288mm fronts. Perfect choice of mods for that little bit extra you have planned too. :thumbleft:
  15. Thanks again chaps, it's not gonna be a show winner but should be very respectable come the end. Chris, not a patch on yours mate, really looking forward to seeing yours Next month. Martin, it's hycote aluminium mate. It's the recommended one by most on here and I have to agree. I had a couple of tins of Simoniz aluminium left over from the last time, and it's a bit too light compared to the hycote so looks a little false if you know what I mean.
  16. It cometh too soon. Not that my wheels would be anywhere near up to scratch for a wheels day anyway......
  17. You picked the wrong Service mate, you could have been quids in now if you were a matlot!
  18. Wow top work fella! Forgot it was a bit of a rough un' when you bought it! :thumbleft:
  19. I'm up for this too. Will probably be only the Saturday though.
  20. Little update with a few pics. Not a great deal done, although I've started putting it back together now. Bit of a delay with the powdercoated items, (not ready yet despite them having it all almost two weeks!) so picking it all up Tuesday now. Everything seems to take longer than you plan for! Don't think it's to the standard of some of the recent members rebuilds tbf, although it's a damp sight better than it was. GB selector mech on still needs a good sorting out. Should have done it before painting but hey, you live and learn. Still a fair way to go, but slowly slowly catchy monkey and all that!
  21. There are tons of things it could be unfortunately. Being sat for so long doesn't help either as seals and actuators become gummed up and/or brittle. First things you can do are all free/cheap and easy stuff. Take off the idle stabilisation valve and leave it to soak in carb cleaner overnight. It's located just behind the engine on the right hand side as you look into the bay, and is a cylinder about 4inches in length. Clean up all electrical contacts and earth points by disconnecting them, giving the all a little wire brush or a bit of emery cloth to the points, electrical contact cleaner to all electrical plugs, re-secure and grease up earth points. Check all the thin black vacuum hoses at the back for splits or poor connections, and the intake air pipe (big black one coming from the air filter) again for splits/cracks including underneath and especially in the inner part of bends. Don't think it'll be crank sensor as it doesn't usually start if it's defective. If you go from there it narrows down the possibilities a little, then let us know how you get on and we can advise from there. Where are you located? Someone with vagcom (diagnostics equipment) may be local and offer to help you out which will save you a fair amount in garage fault finding bills. Welcome along by the way, and hope it doesn't take too long before she purring along as intended! :thumbright:
  22. Mate, I seriously don't envy you that wiring! This sort of thing frustrates the hell out of me, and being a pinky fag, I'm kinda used to it! Think that's the reason I hate it so,much, being almost like work!
  23. If cleaning has much improved it, stick the isv in carb cleaner overnight to give it a proper good soak. Other than that, check all vac hoses, and check the inlet air pipe isn't split anywhere. If you have a search, there are tons of threads with the same issues, could be lots of things but worth checking the free/cheap stuff first.
