Not a problem. Call it a tenner + post and I'll bung in a few goodies as well.

Yeah got a front mount bracket although it's a bit rough. I'll give it a quick go over with a wire brush for you. I also have the and bolts if you need them too?
-
I've got everything you need but won't be able to get them now until Friday if no one comes in sooner. Fiver plus postage ok?

Sexual mate! Mines pretty much ready to go back in now, and like you say all those powdercoated items can barely be seen!

Having a bit of a mare. Trying to fit new cross member bushes but having no luck and getting frustrated now. I've tried a long nut and bolt to pull them through, but they just keep deforming. Anyone got any tips or is it a trip to a local garage with a press? Thanks all.

Used Redline Mt90 too. Uses just under two Us quarts, so two litres is enough Chris.

Jays Blackberry VR6 project & 16v Recaro donor car...

Looks a very nice example! To widen your search, all mk3 Golf Gti's (8v & 16v) and VR6s from 95 onwards had 288mm fronts. Perfect choice of mods for that little bit extra you have planned too. :thumbleft: -
Thanks again chaps, it's not gonna be a show winner but should be very respectable come the end. Chris, not a patch on yours mate, really looking forward to seeing yours Next month. Martin, it's hycote aluminium mate. It's the recommended one by most on here and I have to agree. I had a couple of tins of Simoniz aluminium left over from the last time, and it's a bit too light compared to the hycote so looks a little false if you know what I mean.

It cometh too soon. Not that my wheels would be anywhere near up to scratch for a wheels day anyway......

Wow top work fella! Forgot it was a bit of a rough un' when you bought it! :thumbleft: -
I'm up for this too. Will probably be only the Saturday though.

Little update with a few pics. Not a great deal done, although I've started putting it back together now. Bit of a delay with the powdercoated items, (not ready yet despite them having it all almost two weeks!) so picking it all up Tuesday now. Everything seems to take longer than you plan for! Don't think it's to the standard of some of the recent members rebuilds tbf, although it's a damp sight better than it was. GB selector mech on still needs a good sorting out. Should have done it before painting but hey, you live and learn. Still a fair way to go, but slowly slowly catchy monkey and all that!

There are tons of things it could be unfortunately. Being sat for so long doesn't help either as seals and actuators become gummed up and/or brittle. First things you can do are all free/cheap and easy stuff. Take off the idle stabilisation valve and leave it to soak in carb cleaner overnight. It's located just behind the engine on the right hand side as you look into the bay, and is a cylinder about 4inches in length. Clean up all electrical contacts and earth points by disconnecting them, giving the all a little wire brush or a bit of emery cloth to the points, electrical contact cleaner to all electrical plugs, re-secure and grease up earth points. Check all the thin black vacuum hoses at the back for splits or poor connections, and the intake air pipe (big black one coming from the air filter) again for splits/cracks including underneath and especially in the inner part of bends. Don't think it'll be crank sensor as it doesn't usually start if it's defective. If you go from there it narrows down the possibilities a little, then let us know how you get on and we can advise from there. Where are you located? Someone with vagcom (diagnostics equipment) may be local and offer to help you out which will save you a fair amount in garage fault finding bills. Welcome along by the way, and hope it doesn't take too long before she purring along as intended! :thumbright: -

Mate, I seriously don't envy you that wiring! This sort of thing frustrates the hell out of me, and being a pinky fag, I'm kinda used to it! Think that's the reason I hate it so,much, being almost like work! -
If cleaning has much improved it, stick the isv in carb cleaner overnight to give it a proper good soak. Other than that, check all vac hoses, and check the inlet air pipe isn't split anywhere. If you have a search, there are tons of threads with the same issues, could be lots of things but worth checking the free/cheap stuff first.

Doh, same thing though. Have a look on vagcat, sign up for free and you can see the blown up diagram of the engine. It lists part numbers too so a phone call to Vw should herald a result.

Is it the auxiliary pulley? Not sure if the oil pump is shaft driven on the 20vt, but it's essentially driven by that if it is.
-
Mine has colour code and description on the plate. No idea what yours is referring to though!
-
Lucky escape there! Mine were really loose too. I could remove a couple with just fingers, a handful using just light pressure, and the rest were still able to be removed with the wheels in the air. Luckily my bolts are in good order still, but I'll be using plenty of threadlock too!

VR6 South's Corrado History Another Addition p4
seanl82 replied to VR6 South's topic in Members Gallery
Thanks Martin, I'm on seriously looking into it now thanks to the bonus. Full windows out respray in a few months! Oh and I hope to finally meet one of these that you own. The Fabia is nice, but it's like being told "free pint tomorrow", in that it always "soon to be back on the road" -
I used the back of a rigging knife and drilled a hole to lock mine in place! Anything that works will do!
-
Amazing work as usual Chris. Well done!

Top work there fella! What did you use to paint the plastics? My rocker cover is discoloured on the raised part at the alternator end, and with everything else being cleaned up, this is gonna stand out so need to do something about it.
