  1. I'd say nearer £300 without pillars, carpet and headlining. I think £500-600 would be the best you could hope for a mint FULL interior depending on how quickly you want it gone tbh. Not sure if there are currently any on ebay. but if you trawl back through the for sale pages, there have been a couple in this year to give you an idea.
  2. Oh its early, wouldn't be any good anyway. It'd make a nice little daily for you with those sills sorting then mate. Chuck some coilies on and one of your many many sets of wheels, and you'll have a good little car there.
  3. What Green is that James? If its Classic and you decide to break, bagsy the wings mate. Absolute steal whatever you decide to do anyway bud. :thumbleft:

    Door trim

Yeah a hair dryer and patience. Try to get as much of the foam adhesive off as possible whilst doing that, as its a nightmare getting off afterward. To get the remaining adhesive off, apparently a rubber wheel on a battery drill works wonders, but otherwise you need yet more patience with some tar and glue remover or thinners, and a clean microfibre.
  5. Yeah its just a pull off affair. The clip attaches to the metal leaver itself to hold the plastic handle on and tight. Its on well, so perseverance is required.
  6. I think you've already made your mind up mate. :D You can pick up a good early Valver for much less than a grand imo. I was lucky as the previous owner didn't really know what he had - (spec on my sig) and I only paid £550 for it. :smug: Bodywork was average, and apart from a new battery, ripping out the old ebay uprated headlight loom that was causing the battery drain that eventually killed it, and removing the aftermarket immobiliser that caused it to not start, it was faultless in my ownership.
  7. I've owned both, and all I can do is reiterate what everyone else has said. I loved my KR, and if it was for daily duties, I'd be more than happy with it. For a weekend toy though, the VR comes into its own. They both need a good ragging to get going, and the KR flies up the revs pulling all the way from about 3.5-4k, yet the VR still feels a little slow and lazy in comparison. You do however get a good kick from about 4-4.5k, which a mate of mine said it was akin to the v-tec kicking in on his EP3 Civic Type R. The noise is very addictive so you tend to keep revs up just for the sake of it! They both have their pros and cons, and some say there is no discernible difference in handling, but others (me included) think the VR is quite nose heavy. I cannot remember ever experiencing understeer in the KR, yet I often do with the VR. The KR was very easy to throw around town where you just wanna point and go. The KR is more raw and unrefined though imo, and although the VR cannot really be called refined, its a nice quiet cruiser until awoken, and has the power on tap at any speed with a quick shift down or foot to the floor. One phrase that rings true though - There's no replacement for displacement.

    Plasti Dipping

Take the car to a local detailer and get paint thickness measured. If there is sufficient paint, a pro detailer will be able to bring it up like new, often for less than it would cost to plastidip the whole car mate.
  9. Those figures are great for a brand new or recon engine, but for a well worn in VR 165 - 185 psi will probably be as good as you're likely to see Rob. These figures are also within recommended tolerances.
  10. Pete, do you have the info that Vince sent you still by any chance? I've got an error code of implausible signal with my VSS. My speedo works fine, but my spoiler doesn't go up automatically despite changing the control module and checking stereo wiring. Cheers mate.
  11. If readings are reasonable anyway, it shouldn't make a great deal of difference Rob. I forgot to warm mine up before I tested earlier in the year, yet my readings were all still within tolerance without being great. If yours are borderline, it may be worth getting it warmed up if you can for peace of mind on that front mate. Don't forget it needs to be cranked with WOT too bud.
  12. Export/Import duty and shipping containers not required from the Midlands to Somerset though
  13. On another note, did you get my message regarding Vagcom in the help section, or have you managed to get it all sorted with a mate you mentioned?
  14. No more common than any other tbh. Obviously with a car of this age its possible, but I wouldn't be overly concerned. See how it fares with a new gasket and go from there I suppose mate.
  15. Yeah I'd recommend VWS as well Rog. Good quality stuff and decent prices. I've got a leak there too. Don't mean to alarm you, but mine is because the three bolts have been cross threaded where they're a pain to get to being inside the bell housing. Just be aware of them is all mate. Oh and make sure you get the rubber gasket as opposed to the paper one Rog. From Chassis number..............whatever it is. Paper gasket is for the earlier VR's.
  16. Yeah the front cross member is pretty strong too tbh. I wouldn't do it personally as obviously you have weight on the engine and front end on top of the rest too. I'm sure it'd be fine though if you prefer.
  17. You can get 5 litres of Quantum Silver 10w40 from VW for around £18 anyway Rog. I always found it cheaper than most oils at Halfords even with trade discount mate. I always got between 10% and 20% (depending who was on the parts desk) forces discount at VW on top, and you may be able to blag some discount yourself.
  18. Thanks for letting me know mate. Monkey, can you give me a description of what the wings are like too please. Cheers.
  19. Thanks mate. Gotta be a good sign if he's busy for the next three weeks. :thumbleft:
  20. Be interested if you manage to find a recommended panel beater nearby Daren. I'm sure someone thats pretty competent can knock a small ding like that out mate.
  21. Thanks for reply bud. I'll probably have the bonnet and dependant on whether the wings are reasonable (no need to be mint but decent will do), and if Dox doesn't want them obviously. Would you be willing to hold onto them until 15th December? I'm in Bristol that weekend and have a family Xmas meal in Cheddar on Sunday 15th, so if that would be ok I could pick them up then? Thanks mate, Sean.
  22. No, a spigot ring is a plastic insert that fits inbetween your hub and the wheel itself. VWs have a centre bore of 57.1 mm, and the spigot will fill the gap if the centre bore is bigger on the wheel, thus centralising it so it sits correctly and reduces the risk of the wheel being slightly offset. I reckon any cheap centre cap of the same diameter as the BBS one will have that retaining ring your after. That ring just helps push the clips out so the cap doesn't fall out with vibrations or from a slight knock.
  23. Wow, you got skillz! Thats a fantastic turnaround well done! Unsure on side repeater position though......
  24. Holy Frig, has everyone been on the mulled Vino early this year or something. Prices seem to have shot right up. I may stick mine up for a cheeky 5k, Never know maybe someone will be treating themselves to an early Xmas present.
