  1. You may be ok and get away with just replacing the bolts, but you may need a new cup as well. I'd be going back to the garage that did the work, as its almost certainly their cock up.
  2. Congrats Martin! At least one of us has got the genuine article..................... :mad2: :thumbleft:

    OBD2 Schrick

VWM VSRs tend to go for close to a grand, but I've seen schricks go fo as little as £600. Remember you need to remove it to change the plugs with a Schrick!
  4. I'll PM you Gaz rather than clutter Matts thread. :thumbleft:
  5. I've noticed a slight increase going to the Fuchs Titan 10w-50. I also noticed more that temps take a fair amount longer to subside. I originally put it all down to the fact that I'd painted the block etc, but likely to be a combination. I still have some 10w-50 for the next oil change, but I might go back to Synta Silver after that to see how it compares. It'll be a while before this happens though I think!
  6. Sounds like a very good car indeed. What is required to get it through an MOT? Is it not worth throwing it in to find out whats needed. In all honesty, the £10k plus cars are hanging around for an awful long time. In reality, they're probably not going to sell for that. The £5-7k cars are though, so long as they're in v.good condition (which this price bracket usually is). Its a limited market for VRT and highly tuned/modified cars as I'm sure you're aware, even though the work done probably far outweighs the price you'd get. With an MOT, I'd suggest slightly under £10k as a starting point, and be prepared to drop a fair amount if it starts dragging on. Depends what the guy offered you though I guess!
  7. Great wheels, great brakes, great car! Don't leave it this long again Matt! Just need Chris to update his now!
  8. Don't think there are many features to change tbh, and not heard of any of those certainly! It's VAG tacho you need for that anyway mate.
  9. I can't understand how the carriers are more expensive than the calipers!
  10. Just a quick one as I'm not sure you're aware, there are 2 different size fuel tanks on Corrados, and I image (though not sure) it's the same on the Golf. Corrado VR has a 70L tank, all others are 55L
  11. The fact you have to weld the patch back on anyway means its worth spot welding a nut back beforehand. As mentioned it'll be a nightmare if you need to remove the wishbone again for any reason and you'll just go through the same thing again.
  12. I just bought a Sony DSX-A500BD. Its not got great review but I bought it before reading them. Apparently it doesn't always go back to the correct audio input after disconnecting from calls. Its second hand and I only paid £35 posted for it, so not too worried tbh. Its for the daily for now and at least I'll be able to listen to my music as its either Radio 1 or 2, Heart, or Pirate FM down here. All are atrocious! I'll swap it into the Corrado when its back on the road I expect, but it'll be good to see how it fares with picking up radio stations as to whether I invest in a good one.
  13. Thats strange......... I've emailed you Robin, thanks mate.
  14. Sounds like someone who's just read a few horror stories on Google, and knows bugger all about the car. You can't really write an informative article like he's trying to about drivability, based on a car that's been slammed on God awful coilovers (I had them) and has an exhaust like that either. Some of it makes sense but no, a well maintained G60 that isn't ragged everywhere it goes will be perfectly reliable.
  15. OK, a quick Google and ebay search reveals there are a few. Which does a late vr6 have, silver or gold font, emblem or not?
  16. Interested Robin. What are you after for it?
  17. When I get a Karmann gear stick badge, I'll put it all on! Bids invited stating from 10 million dollars! Lol I should move to Chinnor I think, I'd make a killing there!
  18. I know Chris! I've been looking for gearstick surrounds with the karmann badge. As soon as I get one, they'll be coming off I expect! Need to swap the solitudes for some speedlines too! Not that I ever use them........ If you go on the VW auto Museum website there is a link for the birth certificate etc. (Google translate is your friend obviously!).
  19. Did you not get onto who supplied them Edd? I managed to get the correct rear springs sent out to me FOC.
  20. Well, nothing doing with the Corrado. I'd planned to have a few days on it this week as the kids have been back to school and I've been on leave, but had to get the daily sorted for MOT and got a couple of mini projects on the go as well as living room decoration and a new bathroom. Daily failed on a front strut, headlight beam, and a couple of tyres. I changed both struts and top mount bearings (what an utter nightmare that was, damn French POS!), I also managed to trash a ball joint so changed the lower arms, and pulled a drive shaft out at the input end so had to drain and re-fill the gear oil. Second hand replacement headlight as the reflector was gone, and replaced the drop links as they were an advisory. Took me 2 days in all due to the way the struts are housed in the hub. Bastid things! Anyway, front room decorated and bathroom will be finished tomorrow, but it was the boys 4th birthday a couple of weeks ago so bought him a cheap little mini 50cc 2 stroke quad! Its amazing and he loves it. My 9 year old daughter then kept banging on that she wanted one too, so I've just bought her a second hand 4 stroke 50cc. It needs a bit of work as it won't idle unless given a bit of throttle, and the choke doesn't seem to be doing much, but I'm gonna strip the carb down and have a good go over it tomorrow, replacing fluids and filters too. There is a smallish wooded area just behind the house with a path, so they've been bombing along there scaring dog walkers! lol. I'm fitting a tow bar to the car on Saturday, so I'll get a little trailer and we can all go on little expeditions with em! lol. Don't have any of my Daughters yet, but its a generic red Chinese thing thats a couple of years old.
  21. Fair enough mate. GLWS
  22. Not thinking of selling up again are you Daren?
  23. Dark blue possible Storm on A383 Ashburton Road at 16.45. Didn't see it til the last second as it passed the other way, and just raised my hand slightly so probably didn't see me anyway. Didn't catch plate or anything else really. :(
