  1. Alright Sean, I don't have a seat tilt lever I'm afraid, I can do you the spoiler motor for £15 posted though mate. :)
  2. If you want better breaking performance, the 288mm fronts from a late mk3 Golf Gti/vr6, some mk4 Golfs etc is a very worthwhile upgrade imo. You could even go up to 312mm if you wish for even better brakes, but the 288mm one are the largest you can go with standard wheels. Google it or Have a look in the wiki section, it's all been explained many times and far better than I can. :)
  3. Braking efficiency is exactly the same, it's just a better design of caliper so they shouldn't seize with the cold weather as is very common on the standard ones.
  4. You can keep your standard carriers and the mk4 calipers bolt straight on. Use your existing pads too if they're OK. Just the calipers and hoses required.
  5. It has to be the worst road in the world on a Friday afternoon though! Ive had to do far too many a weekend run on the 303 or 35 from Fareham to Plymouth, then back on a Sunday night (which is a touch better unless you get stuck behind a granny or a truck on the single carriageways!) :bad-words:
  6. Thats a good budget, and you should find something close to that mileage for the price should one become available. And there is the thing, tidy cars sub 80k miles don't come up very often, and you're likely to have to travel far and wide to get it.
  7. Not a problem buddy, glad it's sorted and you're trouble free (whispers that last bit quietly!) Lol. Yeah the steering wheel needs completely retrimming tbh. Though if it was in good knick, I wouldn't be offering it for a tenner!
  8. Shameless thread hijack, anyone else thinking of doing this, I have a nice cheep one for sale ripe for refurbishment! :)
  9. Where are you located? May be worth seeing if someone close by could scan it with VCDS to see if it throws up anything mate.
  10. I'll double check tomorrow mate, can't believe I didn't think to check before! Pretty confident they're good, but I'll let you, know mate.
  11. Give me a few days to see if I can get hold of a box big & sturdy enough mate. It's possible but a bit of I pain!
  12. Alright Wes. :thumbleft:
  13. Yeah I'd wait if I were you, although there's certainly an argument for both sides. Certainly do-able, but this time of year breeds a severe lack of motivation, which may carry over into spring and it may lose the appeal. That said, it's an ideal time to take it slow, spread the cost of a load of nice new shiny bits (which I'm sure you'll be able to get without a problem!) and really go to town on every part of the car aside from bodywork.
  14. Evening all, please see link for a load of parts I need to get rid of. Preferential prices on some items for forum members, and I'll do bundles and combined postage for anything that you fancy. :thumbleft: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/seanl-2007/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

    Expansion Tank

Apparently the black ones are prone to failing too. Heard a few reports of the pressure relief valve in failing to open causing a build up and much bigger problems. The blue one was supposed to replace it due to this.
  16. Yeah this is similar to the one I have. Works a treat!
  17. Good effort and thanks for sharing! It's always good to find this sort of thing out as I'm sure lots of other parts are shared with VAG group cars of similar vintage, especially as its like this are becoming nigh on impossible to find. It's all well and good DIYing some things but always preferable to replace with original parts. :thumbleft:
  18. Certainly sounds electrical. Start with checking all plugs are seated in the fuse box properly and the retaining bar is pushed home. Also check ECU pins and plug to ensure nothing is amiss, and give it a good vast over with electrical contact cleaner. Could also be an earth problem so check all points and straps are intact, and give em a wire brush and blast with wd 40. I assume it's cranking ok?
  19. I agree with the last comment on that thread. It's not like we need to travel mega miles in the UK, even to most major shows. Also with the advent of the 'internet', it's pretty easy to just whip your phone out and call a mobile tyre fitter for side of the road assistance, or use the space saver to get you to the nearest shop. One thing I will say though, tyres are supposed to have a 5 year shelf life. How long has your spare been on that rim in the boot for!?
  20. Ah thats fair enough. I'm hoping to go to a few shows this year. I'm registered for the Corrado display at VW Festival but its hard to plan too far in advance unfortunately.
  21. You'll need to do the entire system, a vacuum pump is recommended as the cars are notoriously difficult to bleed. Ensure you do the pump as well (bleed nipples on the top) and the master cylinder last. Just open the bleed nipple on the master cylinder and let it drain out by gravity mate.
