  1. So I'm just going to order up the timing chains for my VR and I'm wondering what people suggest for the chains. Essentially my dilemma is - do I buy Febi chains for £25 the set, or VAG ones for £70 the set (all +VAT). I can't really see how timing chains can be £45 better, but at the same time I don't really want them going snap... Thoughts gentlemen...?
  2. Good god guys, it's like a children's play pen and nobody's answering the poor man's question. As others have said, I've have a chat with KADVR6 (Karl) about it as he's doing/done almost the same thing. There are numerous way to skin the proverbial cat (or in this case ECU issue), so I'd have a read of the Definitive 24v into a (VR) Corrado thread to see what your options are. As far as places that can do it go, again Karl would be a good choice. I spent a lot of time looking into this myself and after talking to them about the details of conversion - I would say that Storm Developments know a lot and are good to talk to, but I'd be concerned about letting them lose on my car with a spanner.
  3. Oh dear, this is far too funny
  4. I guess the easiest way would be to wire up some kind of basic voltage sensor to the needle so that when it reached a certain point, the light came on. Don't fancy it much myself though...
  5. No UK Corrados got the lights-on warning buzzer as standard and I'm 99% sure nowhere else did either. However, there were/are kits available from Maplin and the like and it seems they were quite popular. Also not featured on the heavy-laden Corrado specification list: low fuel light
  6. As everyone's said above - PlastX is grand. Also works well on front indicators...
  7. Hehe well in that case, my discount should be getting better fairly soon... :norty:
  8. FYI a TPS account gets you uber cheap prices on "consumables" but most stuff is only 10% or so discount, so nothing earth-shattering...
  9. Yeah, but you need a lot of juice to make enough hydrogen to power a car. When you're pumping petrol into a car, it's flowing through the nozze by the megajoule. Wind and water are ok to an extent and I'm all for that, but there's only so much you can generate that way and it's pretty inefficient. The reason you have huge power stations with enormously high voltage transmission lines is because you get huge losses and the only way to make them even sensible as a percentage is to have huge amounts of everything. As far as I can see, the only real solution to the problem is to not use as much energy in the first place. Make stuff better and more efficient at using what it uses rather than just making cheap disposable stuff. It's gonna happen sooner or later...
  10. I *need* to get me some ham so I can crack out the Breville again. Me and my mate at uni used to have a competition to see how much cheese you could cram into a cheese and ham toastie without spillage. FYI it's quite a lot
  11. Erm, lets go back further than the emissions - where do you get hydrogen from in the first place? Usually as a by-product of electrolysis which uses huge amounts of electricity, which is generally generated by coal or oil-fired power stations, or nuclear power. I don't think we're outta the woods yet kids...

    DOT 5(.1?)

Just to confirm what xbones says - DOT 5.1 is perfectly fine to use. Don't think you can even buy the older DOT 5 any more.
  13. Watched the whole of the last season on the BBC website when I was working in Canada last year, should be the same for the US. One of these will get you there: http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/ or this one http://www.bbcamerica.com/ Yup - Top Gear is on BBC America but I think it's usually shown a few weeks behind the UK.
  14. It'd be even more awesome if it was on fire  Not as tragic as finding out it's a 316!
  15. Awesome! Just as Battlestar Galactica's finishing up for the summer break (half way through a season - bastards!) and Dexter and Dirty Sexy Money don't start 'til "Fall". I was getting worried that there'd be a drought, but TG and a new season of Weeds should just about tie me over
  16. Ooh hello - long time no see! I believe both early and late door sill covers are available, but the early ones seem to be more popular as they've got Corrado written on them, rather than just being stripes.
  17. If the Monkey doesn't want these hoses and they are what i need for these calipers, i'll take them please? Erm...looks like you've painted into the threads for the flexi hose :?
  18. So yes, you can, but you still need to swap the whole of the ducting in the dash to do so...
  19. Hehe sorry, it just amused me that the thread seemed to be going round in circles
  20. Yup, this is correct. It was only the very last examples of the Corrado VR6 that had the immobiliser. Blimey, it's almost like page 1 all over again... THE IMMOBILISER WILL STILL LET THE ENGINE START AND THEN KILL IT A FEW SECONDS LATER - THIS IS NOT AN IMMOBILISER PROBLEM. *cough*
  21. Don't you just hate these overly descriptive auctions:
  22. Yeah, fairly. If you've got a Pieburg one, you'll also need a new sender (it'll say VDO or Pieburg on the white bit in the top of the tank), bringing the total price up to about £150...
  23. If it's coming from the driver's side rear wheel type area, then yup - that'll be the fuel pump. Doesn't necessarily mean it's gonna die imminently, but it does mean it's seen better days.
