    LED strips

You can usually find all kinds of things like this on sites that sell computer bits. Look for case-modding lighting sections as they'll have a whole plethora of 12v based lighting.
  2. I'm gonna be the party pooper and say the same... suspension really is one of those areas where you get what you pay for...
  3. Sorry, had to do some actual work today :(
  4. Bugger me, it's almost worth doing that instead of bothering with chains and a head rebuild...
  5. Blimey, that's quite a bit of a bargain! Is that a 2.9 or a 2.8 though?
  6. Alas they're worth significantly less without the loom :(
  7. If it helps you any, that top pin looks like it's one of the ones with the lengthways stripes on it...
  8. Yeah, I know because I thought I'd do the aforementioned quick removal of the heated seat loom, having already done an electric adjustment loom and assumed the heated one was the same...
  9. Yeah, and that's just the electric adjustment loom. If they're factory heated seats, the loom goes all the way across the top of the dashboard, down the passenger side of the car to behind the rear 1/4 panel too. So as well as all of the above, you'll also need the gauge pod out, the under-dash trays out, glovebox out and possibly the centre console and vents out to get the loom out from behind the dash. There's a plug in the loom down in the passenger footwell somewhere that joins it onto the loom that goes to the seats and relays in the back of the car... so you then need to get the trim along the bottom of the door off, the rear seats out, the rear 1/4 panel out and the rear seatbelt out so you can unbolt the little relay panel. So simple really

    VR6 problems

For reference: White smoke = water Blue smoke = oil Black smoke = too much fuel/not enough air If you're getting white smoke, then, it's gonna be water getting into the engine somewhere and the most likely place is the head gasket. It's a relatively easy thing to replace and will be obvious what it is as soon as you get the head off. Make sure you replace all the head bolts and gasket if the head does come of though, they're not re-usable parts.
  11. The Tyre Discussion Thread is a pretty long tome of a thing, but if you're after something relatively cheap, but still fairly good Toyo Proxes seem to be worth a punt. Don't take my word for it though - have a peruse through the later pages of that thread to see what tickles your turnip.
  12. There is only 1 belt on the VR, so that's the jobber you need.
  13. You need the right size bolt to release the tensioner with (not sure what it is off the top of my head, but it should come up on searches). Changing the belt is a doddle otherwise, and once the belt is off, the tensioner is also a doddle too, so you should be ok doing that at home. The water pump can be a bit of a git though, so probably best to get a garage to do that one. The new belt should be ok for a quick and gentle drive to the garage, but it really depends on how bad it is. If the pulley on the pump has ceased solid, then it'll shred a new belt almost instantly. Best to just check all of the pulleys are still able to turn (apart from the big crank one which will only turn when the engine turns) before you fit the new belt...
  14. Oh now that's just mad! Shirely someone must have seen it and/or it got caught on camera somewhere? :(
  15. There is a kart track in Lydd, so maybe he'd been karting with someone, hence the van...? Weird though!
  16. So I guess you've now got a new belt, but is it now quiet, or still making some noise? The belts don't usually squeal and snap for no reason, so it could well be that the water pump and/or tensioner still need seeing to...
  17. which metro? Oh...ROFL... I just glanced at it and thought the blobby painted thing was a Metro  ...it's a Mk2 :(
  18. Oooh I wonder if I can get those Recaros in to the Porker... hmm. Mind you, the Metro is much more my kind of car
  19. Mmm tight 8) Wheels could do with a refurb though... :(
  20. Oh cracking stuff! I'd love one of those things... they're awesome little track weapons.
  21. The kits aren't for the 1.8 16v though (or they're not on the Parts Club price list if they do) - maybe it's a different setup?
  22. Oh man I know - that's an AWESOME car... looks just like my new one - viewtopic.php?f=17&t=70861
  23. Those do look like they're standard VAG prices, however if you're a member of the CCGB you can get a trade account with TPS and have Parts Club prices on things. That then makes your list cost as follows (Parts Club prices in brackets): Cam Belt £25 + VAT (£16.10+VAT) Cam Belt Tensioner £30.83 + VAT (£19.91+VAT) Alternator Belt £5.55 + VAT (£3.05+VAT) So it's a bit more expensive than aftermarket, but you're then getting pukka VAG parts...
