Door handle repair kit..........THEY ARE NOW AVAILABLE
dinkus replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
I've been fitting my stereo this week and thought I'd fix the rattle in the driver's door while I was at it. Luckily, it didn't take very long to find the cause... it was not one, but two dead door latches kicking about in the bottom of the door! DSCF2177 (Medium).JPG[/attachment:15atqgzt] I'm pleased to say that a previous owner had already swapped the latches for one of Dave's stainless jobbers, so I won't have to worry about it again 8) -
There's also a vid on YouTube... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=E1MPsoftW9A And even better - there's a guy called Edward Smith at work too... ohh he's getting some jip
-
Lots of swearing? Also sometimes helps to get a hacksaw and spend 4hrs removing the bracket right at the back of the DIN slot to give you an extra 5mm clearance.
-
Who asked you anyway!  Aye and see my previous comment about same price, shipping, import duty and wait  Just buy them from your local VW dealer - they're standard VW parts for Corrados
-
Well aye, but then you pay the same amount, plus shipping, plus import tax and have to wait over a week...
-
I think it probably will fit, but they're stupidly expensive and think they might look a bit too big. The thing that put me off in the end was getting the electrics hooked up :(

Credit crunch? I'm more concerned about my gearbox crunch!

What, you mean like the crazily detailed one 2cc did for the KB a year or so ago? ;) -
You can just get them from VAG... if you've got someone that can get a good discount then it might be cool if they could organise a bulk buy of them. Don't suppose you'll get much of a discount otherwise though.

Only if I can call shotgun on his sister  -
I believe you need to.. Callipers off Carriers off Disk off The stupid rear wheel bearings are also pressed into the disk, so you'll need new bearings in order to get the buggers back on too. Gonna have a crack at mine in a week or so... :?

The plan is to get them done before the monster trip, yars. I'd be game to take a few days off work and have a crack at both cars at once, but it'd be like the deaf leading the blind with out Mr. Toady's expertise  I'm not sure if he'll be ready to do his by then, or if he can get time off work though... -
Yeah, the glovebox is by far the most difficult bit of trim to get out. Bastid thing. I find re-fitting it is done best by lining it up, sitting back in the passenger seat and "persuading" it back in with my feet
-
We can ban you for a while if that helps Andy?
-
Hehe yup, also useful to get the gauge pod surround off so you can get in from the other side too. Just don't lose the 2 plastic screw covers - you can't get them any more.
-
Ah good stuff mate 8)

Yeah, but what about the spoiler?

I'm happy to lend a hand if/when things get under way... would be good to see the inside of the box. And while we're there, we can look at the car too :norty:  -

You might as well stick with a replacement 02A box as they're not megabucks to get second hand. M15 VW and/or bigpants baby often have them kicking about. Labour-wise, it's a bit of a ball-ache, but if your chains need doing anyway, it's a good opportunity to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and save yourself some long-term dosh. All depends on how droopy your flexible friend is at the moment though. Either way, I'd give Vince a call and get his opinion on things. He'll almost certainly be able to acquire a replacement 'box if needs be. -
I know bugger all about valvers, but as coolrado says - getting that hot, that quickly does sound like a timing issue and/or air-lock/blockage. Timing sounds most likely if they've had the belts off though. Having said that, an air-lock would have probably bubbled it's way out if you've had the temps up that high by now. Still worth giving the pipes a squidge and listening to see if owt gurgles. Don't think it'll be the temp senders as the oil and water are separate senders and it seems unlikely that both are dead. The water pump would probably be squealing/leaking if it was dead, so again, unlikely. Thermostat is probably ok as the fans are kicking in (and thus I assume the rad must be getting hot, but worth checking). If the thermostat was jammed closed, it wouldn't explain why the engine's getting so hot, so quickly.

I think Plaketten is the generic name for the round badgey things, but Stadt is town in German, so could well be that there's a Stadt Plaketten and a Date Plaketten...

Just a thought - are you after the clips that hold the handbrake cable on? Cos thems be in a different diagram...
-
Ooh, looks pretty good so far 8) Like you say, it's allllmost right, but doesn't look quite there yet. I'm sure with some tweaking you'll get there though. Have you got any spatial capture type stuff? So you can put markers on the car, film it and let the software work out the distances?

The sort of squished C-shape spring clips for the flexi/hardlines are 4D0 611 715 B "retaining spring" There are 2 types of "retainer" on the rear beam. One that's got channels for 3 pipes, and 2 that have channels for 2 pipes... are they the type you mean?
