    MK4 golf brakes?

As far as I know yes. But the disks are a slightly different thickness (hence needing slightly different pads). Other than that you should be OK.

    drivers door problem

The picture came from ETKA, the VAG electronic parts catalogue, which has those kind of pictures for the whole car.
  4. Could be your heater matrix on the way out, as that's on the passenger side in the footwell. Do you have a damp carpet down there too? (ooh err)

my handbrake is pants - dinkus, have you done this mod? If so where did you get your calipers - from the stealers? Yup, the handbrake comes on fully with only about 3cm of handle movement! C&R are the place to get them from. You need the Mk4 calipers and Mk2->Mk4 adapter hoses. Tell them it's for a Corrado though and they'll know what you need. The whole lot comes to £200 delivered if you've got a CCGB card, it's 5% more if not. You can use the standard pads in the calipers too, but apparently the Mk3 GTI pads are the best fit. http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14959 should tell you anything else you need to know ;)

Well if it comes to it, you can always replace the calipers? The rear ones are a pile-o-poop anyway, so you can stick some Mk4 Golf ones on there instead. It'll set you back £200 but you'll get a consistantly working handbrake ( ). They're also alloy so they will stay looking nice and clean all the time too! 8) If the colour of the calipers is worrying you, then buy it anyway, you can always strip the paint off if you're that bothered. Having said that, if you're worrying about the colour of the calipers to preserve it's originality, then you surely aren't considering modifying the engine? ;)
  7. So the question is, did you get the right parts and how much was it with the sender? I have a nagging worry that I'm gonna need a new pump for my VR, so do I need to bother with a new sender as welll? Also, can you get the part from GSF instead? Someone on the Yahoo! list today was saying they're only £35 from there? Is that the 3-bar one?
  8. Well it wouldn't have been the first thing I thought of... pretty amazing tho!
  9. And I almost wrote 6'2 plus hair  Oh no, not another thread on my hair... ;) Anybody got any Recaros kicking around spare? I'd love to slap one on a stand and have it as an office chair! 8)
  10. Yeah worth pointing out that I'm a skinny git too... the Recaros are ok around the thighs, but not exactly gripping. But then you don't tend to slide around as much on cloth anyway,
  11. I recently bought a chrome version and that was 535 853 679 DGX2 Might be of help to distinguish them if the stealer dunno what part it is. Edit: And looking on the back of my old (snapped) chrome badg: the part number ends with D
  12. Well I'm 6'2 and I've had no problems at all with either support or discomfort with my (cloth) Recaros. In fact, I think they're the most comfortable seats that my bum has graced in a car 8)
  13. They're definitely 'distinctive' :? Can't beat em for the rarity factor tho :D
  14. Somewhere 'very safe' no doubt

    MK4 golf brakes?

Yeah, he was telling me that I really should get the front hoses done at the same time as the rears, but I couldn't justify the extra £50 and a load of labour :( I've spent about £2.5k on my C already and I've only had it just under 3 months! And that's only £500 on getting the tree incident fixed...
  21. You want a tazer gun targeted at the crotch area  I'm not 100% sure about wiring something like that up myself tho... ;)
  22. Always good fun :) Although obviously only on *cough* private roads....:D
