  1. Mine is the best engine. More than willing to sell it complete with the rest of the VR Corrado it's attached to for a reasonable fee. I've got 2
  2. As ETKA seems to list a bajillion different headlight parts - do you know what the part number is on the ones you've got?
  3. Yeah, TBH my branch weren't too bothered either - I was buying stuff off them so they're happy :D

    soundproofing?

Although I won't agree with Kev to say it doesn't make any difference - if you're expecting new-car quiet from an ancient thing like the Corrado just by adding some sound deadening, you're going to be disappointed. Having said that, the Damplifier Pro stuff I used on mine has significantly quietened down the cabin. I've got a single layer of Damplifier in the doors (didn't want to put too much weight in there) then a single layer of Damplifier Pro under the rear seats, boot floor, boot sides and quite importantly - rear 1/4s as that seemed to be where a lot of the road noise was coming from. TBH, there's already a lot of sound deadening down under the front carpets, so I doubt that will have made much of a difference. Again, as Kev says - it stops vibration and does kill sound coming into the car, but it doesn't absorb sound inside the cabin to give you a tomb-like deadness. One thing I have noticed is that leather interiors seem quieter than cloth and I think that's because all the door cards are padded and perhaps the leather soaks up the noise better? 'tis odd. I certainly think a fair bit of the cabin noise is to do with the plastics used as they reflect sound rather than absorb it like modern dashboards and such do. I was going to go complete overkill and put some Luxury Liner Pro down behind the rear 1/4s too, but I was just running out of space and the will to live. That may well dampen it down a fair bit in the car though, so you never know, I might get around to fitting it one day...

    Fuel pump gone?

Firstly, you want to see if you've got a Pieburg or VDO pump (it'll say on the white under the metal plate). If it doesn't match whatever the replacement one you've got is, you'll need to swap the pump, float and sender. If it does match, then you can just swap the sender over. FYI - new ones from VAG are VDO, so if you've got a Pieburg one, you need a sender and float too (another £40 or so I think, canne remember). You'll also probably some 12-14mm fuel hose clamps, as I think the factory ones are crimped-on one-time use things. To swap the pump... Take the metal cover plate off. Unscrew the big black ring (ooh err) - it'll probably damned tight, so you need to give it some abuse with a hammer Disconnect the fuel hoses from the white plate Remove white plate and the rubber seal Get your hand down to the pump in the bottom of the tank and unscrew it - it's a bayonet fitting like a lightbulb. Again, it'll probably be damned tight, so you'll need to twist it hard to get it to come out. Fitting is the reverse :)

    Fuel pump gone?

If you've got a VR then the pumps do die and they're not too hard to swap, but the different engines have different pump setups...

    That

Erm sorry, but who let you in here with that F*** thing? Oooh looking very nice! 8)
  8. Technically yes, but you can usually blag an account if you mention CCGB membership - especially if you don't want a credit account. They will need a business (any business) address to deliver to though - they won't deliver to you home.
  9. Hehe thanks guys - it's really great to hear the compliments :) I may be a little biased, but silver is the best colour 8) Someone was saying a while ago (I think it might have been Eric) that they actually designed the Sciroccos and Corrados in silver and all the clay models that they made up were silver as it's a nice neutral colour. So if that's true (damn, another question for Schwebe that I think of *after* we've met him!) then silver is the only "proper" colour to have them in

    That

And about bloody time too!! :D 8)
  11. I'm off to see her this weekend, so I'll break it to her gently then...
  12. Yeah, thanks again for all your help - it was a monsterous mission, but definitely well worth every second! I think it's gonna take quite a few reach-arounds before I've fully paid you back though...
  13. Nah, 'fraid not - the interior went as a job-lot with door cards and loom.
  14. Thanks for all the compliments guys - I went through a real "oh balls, I can't be arsed" spell a few months ago and the engine and suspension work just seemed to take forever. I was getting really fed up with things. But after it all coming together so nicely for the 20th Anniversary trip I'm utterly chuffed with it now. I'm dead happy with how it runs and drives, it looks great after a bit of clay-bar love and it sounds deader than the hookers in Toad's boot inside. Just need to get a few bits and bobs tidied off and it will be (as near as dammit) perfect :) If I'm honest, leather looks cool, but doesn't really float my boat (well...not as car interiors anyway :norty:  ) so I sold the leather on and transplanted in my cloth Recaros instead. If anybody is thinking of removing the factory-fitted heated seat loom from a Corrado, I can thoroughly recommend not doing so because it's a complete cocking pain!
  15. Hey - they sky's pink, what more do you want? I do have Yan's pink flag that he "left behind" though...hmm...
  16. Yeah, these were US-spec only to meet the crash safety laws there, so not only are the LHD only and a lot of work to fit... but you'll have to source a set from the states
  17. Yeah, it seems like much more now it's all written down there! http://www.comp.co.uk/wheels/wheels.asp ... ort+Wheels ;)
  18. Hehe thanks chap :) I know I've had at least 3 sets of his wheels on my cars  Not decided on a head unit just yet - need some fundage first, but after hearing the unit in that Beetle at E38, I'm really liking the Alpine units with Audyssey MultEQ stuff on. The CDA-9887R has it built-in, but no USB input and apparently the iPod interface is a bit naff sounding too. The CDA-9886R has a nice USB interface for hard drivey type stuff and you can get an external MultEQ box for it (PXA-H100). However, I've not had time to find out what formats it can decode or if the external MultEQ box is any good
  19. So I thought I should start a new thread for the second Silver VR as it's a completely new car, despite looking exactly like the last one  Despite this little beasite looking fairly standard, I bought her with black leather Recaros, Koni TA shocks and H&R springs as well as new rear axle bushes, top-mounts and wheel bearings all round. There were also some Audi 5-spoke lookalike wheels on there, which have since found their way onto my old C. Since then, she she's had... (in order of fitting) Leather Recaros out, black cloth Recaros in. 312mm front brakes with VAG disks and Pagid FR pads Rear Mk4 Callipers with VAG disks and Mintex 1144 pads (fecking amazing bite!) Goodridge braided hoses all round 6-spoke Compomotive MOs (which actually turned out to be Kev's old wheels  Currently booted with Toyo Proxes which seem fairly ok. Quieter than the Rainsports). Pioneer AVH-P5900DVD head unit (cool toy, awesome for shows when it gets cold and wet) Second Skin Damplifier on the outer door skins, with Skinz wave diffusers behind the drivers Audioscape door pods with 6.5" Rainbow SLXi components Second Skin Damplifier Pro in the rear 1/4s, under the rear bench, boot floor and sides. Audioscape sub box with a 10" Rainbow Hammer Audioscape amp rack (hah, still not bolted the bloody thing in) with Genesis Profile 4 Ultra amp Knu Konceptz wiring (got some of their battery terminals to go on at some stage when I have the strength). Schimmel 263 cams INA tappets Iwis (from 4 season) chains and VAG tensioners with Mk4 top tensioner and pad VAG clutch VAG Thermostat & housing VAG Header tank 4 Season alloy crack pipe (like the Gruven one, but has an allen key grub screw instead of the fancy valve) VAG wisbhones with TT donut bushes VAG ARB drop-links VAG Outer ball joints VAG Tie rods VAG Engine mounts GSF Gearbox mount That's all very well and good, but this is a gallery thread, so here are some pics I took at the 20th Anniversary meet... DSCF2242 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSCF2238 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdfDSCF2236 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdfDSCF2232 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] Corrado92.pdfDSCF2221 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfDSCF2217 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] ETKA Corrado.pdfDSCF2213 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128] stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdfDSCF2207 (Large).JPG[/attachment:juy90128]
  20. I think there's a video of this floating about on the forum somewhere and I'm sure a search for starter and solenoid would find something. But essentially - yes, as has been said - it's the starter solenoid not disengaging quick enough, but not sure it's actually going to cause any problems other than making an annoying noise.
  21. I'm not sure if anybody has tried the brakes from a Mk5 yet - most of them get pilfered from Mk3s or Mk4s. Assuming that the callipers are the same as the Mk3 and Mk4, you'll want carriers and disks from a late-spec Mk3. However, you're unlikely to find many places selling just the carriers without the callipers, so you might be better off just getting the whole setup from a Mk3. If you take the callipers from a Mk4, the hubs have a different offset, so you'll need to get some 6mm (I think) spacers and longer carrier bolts to move the carrier in-line with the disk. Whatever you do, you'll also need some adapter hoses that are Corrado screw-thread at the car end and Mk3 onwards banjo connection at the other.
  22. Ooh interesting - headlights aren't listed as parts club parts on their website, so I think you got a bit of a bargain there... wonder if it was just a one-off or if that's the standard TPS price.
  23. Hmm, I wonder how long it'll be before you can buy something with an R36 in for peanuts... put the engine and interior into the Corrado and break the rest for parts
