  1. Yep, spare set in the roof, don't need them now the G60 is going and the valver has 5 x brand new ones on it. Drop me a PM with your email and I can forward some photos.
  2. You running the factory airbox or a cone filter? The MAF needs a smooth airflow to work correctly and aside from the BMC carbon cans cone filters tend to induce the behaviour you have described.
  3. Just to clarify, you want to stick an ABF into a Corrado or a mk 2 Golf? Assuming it is the Corrado route then you don't need to mess around with a mk 2 Golf gearbox as the mk 3 ABF unit already has the 228mm flywheel that is used on the cable operated gearbox (all Corrados came with a cable change box, hence the 228mm flywheel). Wiring loom wise, your best bet if using the Corrado is to replace the entire loom at the fusebox end (easy enough with the engine out although removing the brake servo is a right pain) I assume you are going down the aftermarket management route - probably megasquirt? If so then you only really need power, a custom loom to suit is best and keeping in mind the supplied case for 'squirt isn't watertight then you are better off routing it through the passenger side of the bulkhead using the LHD fusebox wiring loom hold (there is a rubber bung fitted) this means you can easily locate the 'squirt control box in the glovebox area. As for supercharging an ABF lump, roughly the same rules apply as supercharging a KR - are you going G60 or one of the various screw charger routes? If G60 then the biggest headache is belt setup - pulley offsets need calculating and don't be tempted to go with a toothed belt or a solid tensioner, the G60 needs belt slip to prevent shock loads on the charger. A lot of aftermarket 16vG60 kits don't work too well on a RHD vehicle - I have found the RPM Tuning kit to be well made and well thought out but there delivery can lead much to be desired sometimes. From my personal experience you will do it all once and then do it again taking everything you have learned to improve the enginering of the final product - make sure you get the pulleys and belts sorted before the block goes into the car as its a lot easier that way! Finally, despite sounding very chav engineering save yourself a fortune and just fit a set of stacked headgaskets to the ABF to get the comp ratio down - its proven to be reliable and stops you spending £1000 on pistons and rods etc.
  4. Nowt up here. All this moaning about -12 degrees being cold on the national news, it was that cold inside my garage last year!
  5. It belonged to a former forum member called IoWG60. It is a G60 and strangley enough I believe the photo is taken on the Isle of Wight.
  6. Cheap, hope that's dirt on the drivers sill and not rust though!
  7. Dopey. Once again shinny pipework, stick on gauges and silicon elbows seem to be the priority there.
  8. Bye, hope your new path gives you entertained!
  9. Quality, it was getting a bit dull then I nearly spat my coffee over the keyboard when it cut to the tractor!
  10. AH but if you can prove it was built in 1972 then it qualifies for free tax.
  11. Signed. When you look at the lengths motor manufacturers are going to to keep weight down and thereby improve fuel range the old Corrado is actually pretty good. The addition of a 6 speed gearbox to the VRs and G60s would see some very good fuel economy.
  12. 16v idle when warm should be 950-1050rpm. Idle is higher due to the high compression of engine IIRC. There is a mixture adjustment screw on the fuel metering head (the one on the airbox lid) but you need a long allen key and some exhaust gas analysis equipment before you get to fiddle with that.
  13. Easiest way to fill the gearbox oil is get a 1m (or about 3 feet) of 30mm bore oil hose, I then feed that down through the engine bay and into the gearbox filler hole, you can then lower the car back onto level ground and fill up with ease.
  14. Looks like the red is fading badly - nothing a good attack with some good quality polish and a rotary wouldn't fix though. Shame there is no shots of the interior a bit of a lack of charger refurbishment info and it seems to be missing the BBS centre caps - so there are some questions that need answering.. Been thinking about sticking the nugget back to standard as they are getting to the age where folks want factory spec not moddified ones - easy enough, just the boost plumbing and refit the original ECU chip.

A wipe over with Autoglyms vinyl and rubber care also works a treat, plenty of silicon to stop the moisture sticking to the seal.
  16. Damn that was lucky you got out when you did. I had to do a double take at the number plate as my Corrado is reg G918 AFH - only 2 digits off!
  17. Nice one Jim, it does wear much better than the cloth seats over time.

Yeah but no, think its around the £75 point for some foam which is damn expensive...
  19. Hallo and welcome! Solid looking car from the pictures, must be on lower suspension judging by the ride height.
  20. Top mounts, bump stops, springs & dampers plus all the nuts and spacers etc. As for cost, more than the coilovers probably if you go genuine VW for all of it. Best bet is new dampers, a set of used springs and then genuine top mounts and bump stops etc - be around the £350-500 mark off the top of my head.
  21. It felt tired and forced. Shame they destroyed some very tidy cars, its better when they get sheds as you know they are on their last legs. Only funny bit was May getting his revenge by breaking Clarkson's knob!
