    g60 timing

Try this thread in here: Linky And as such I am going to lock this up..
  3. Holy thread resurection Batman! But yeah, very valid point it is crazy how we all complain like hell about fuel prices but right now most of us would be happy paying 'only' £1.10 for a litre of super...
  4. Looking good Drew, very clean and tidy under there.
  5. Er sort of. The G60 plugs are unique to that engine, there are some companies like NGK that offer alternatives but they are not the same and spark is key in these engines. You can find some suppliers online that will sell the correct Bosch specification plug for the moment but I suspect they may stop producing them at some point.
  6. Not got any decent ones of the Nugget, the old VR at the local castle and the 16vG60 at E38 in '05.
  7. Nice, they really are great value for money those cameras. Get the date changed though!
  8. ughh.... early. :) That's a gradual introduction to rev limit cut, at 5600 rpm the ISV bleeds boost back to return. Best bet is change at about 5200 on a G60 on standard management then.
  9. Soft cut is 5600 rpm and hard cut is 6200 rpm, whilst it is not documented that the timing is pulled back between these two values it would not suprise me if the default digi map does this.
  10. I can stick some of these together and paint them black for you  Mmmn tasty..
  11. Me too, you will get a massive drop off at 5800 rpm as that is where a stock digi ECU will open the ISV up to return boost pressure for gradual introduction into the rev limit of 6250rpm.
  12. Brilliant job. Now if we can only find the supplier that makes the underbonnet foam 'waffle' pattern sheets so I can replace the stuff on my early cars..
  13. Its not all about the performance but feel its just getting into the style of driving the corrado, like everyone has said with the vr you have wind it up to get it going and the mk2 is totally opposite. In an ideal world i`ll keep both and have the mk2 as a track car and the corrado a long term keeper...lol.. gareth will be laughing now knowing i always change my mind and am very impulsive..lmfao.. Wouldn`t own anything else other than vw, nothing else has the character or charm.. The wind it up difference between any model of Corrado and a modern car is just a reflection of different approaches to engine design. All modern engines are designed to develop huge torque below 4k, the Corrado era engines do the exact opposite. This has more to do with focus groups and the transition of the status of the car/driving into a utility and not something to be enjoyed. The mk 2 is raw in comparison to the 'rado, I had a run in a friends 1.8T powered mk 2 and it was stupidly quick but I still prefer the refined drive that a Corrado offers.
  14. I have re-tuned the car for Maple Valley as the gearing was terrible, it now handles much better too. Download for free from my storefront by searching for Enduro 2.
  15. im going to have words with my Internet guru friend, see if he has any ideas :salute: its only between your computer and Yans though as far as i can make out.... very strange stuff. Have you done the same with your fire wall settings etc yan? Yes, did that after the first trial Sunday race last year as we were all lagging like crazy.
  16. and me! To be fair I was smashed up completely, Alex had to push me to the pits from just before Carosel 1.
  17. Got loads done over the weekend, started prepping the wheels for swapping, the sebrings are now on the nugget and this car will be wearing the G60 BBSs shortly. Bleed the brakes again as they were pretty shocking, got a good load of air from the right rear corner and nothing from anywhere else so hopefully thats sorted it. Got the front discs off to clean them up, although they are pretty good really. Endulged in some OEM+ness with some mk 3 Golf parts, first up it was some cooling duct 'ears' for the front brake calipers, (6Q0 615 193 and 6Q0 615 194) these bits of plastic are a whopping £2.50ish and they fit quite well. Next up was some plastic covers for the leading edge of the wishbones, these should reduce the amount of debris on top of the wishbone assembly as well as blocking some of the spray and stones flicked onto the driveshaft. They fit in the 3 holes already in the wishbone with no dramas although I need to source the plastic locking pegs (N 038 549 1 x 6 around £1.50 the lot) as I have used nuts and bolts for now. The plastic covers are 1H0 615 447 01C and 1H0 615 448 01C and will set you back about £7 for the pair. No good for the VR boys are you use different wishbones.. And yes I know my brake caliper is minging, overhaul due in the winter layup period and the colour will go back to OEM style gold finish as well.
  18. incidental, this now means that the poll will read 3 votes each [/quote:1fkpoq5w] You now reside in a place called Uruguay. [youtube:1fkpoq5w]I8wMLwsYxjA[/youtube:1fkpoq5w]
  19. All lubricants regardless of manufacturing source (petrolchemical or organic) have a shelf life. The reason is that they are a blend of materials that either separate over time or they attract moisture which degrades the performance. (So now you know :)) The best bet is a fresh unopened pot of lube for whatever you happen to be lubing

    Misfire....

Thermal cycles and vibration. We (car owners) never consider just how hot lambda wiring gets with it's proximity to the exhaust, we also assume the engine is a static lump that does not move much. The combination of hot/cold cycles, engine movement, constant vibration of the wiring loom and the state of the roads will give you exactly what the Beigester has photographed above. It's also the reason it's good to use some rubber/silicon pipes in boost or coolant systems - the rubber absorbs the vibration. As for the original missfire, it does make sense that a lambda problem goes away when on WOT given that is the only time (except for the warm-up phase) that it has no input into fuelling. I suspect the real reason you have a misfire on all but WOT is that as the Motronic ECU is continually adapting the base values for best running it is on the last set of adaptive values; which were derived during an unreliable signal from the lambda as the wiring was failing. That's my 50p anyway and makes sense in my head right now :)
  21. Going to be controller for me, my FF wheel and pedals would kill me in an enduro race! Poll back up, don't fiddle with it this time Kris :nono: :)
  22. Yarp, g60 is supposed to be the daily though..
