Nice one ...... Did you try them without the resistors ? If so what happened, did they flash too fast ?
-
Excellent, cheers for that flusted. I got the bulbs too. I got the red films from the states, didn't like them though, so i've had to order some savage spray tint from Larkspeed in the UK cos i couldn't find it anywhere in Australia.
-
Go for a Rallye or Golf G60 one i say. The Rallye one is 570ish new from VW though
-
Not a problem mate, had a quick look at your VR just now, looks interesting, very nice.... Did you have your rear screen taken out ? GPC told me the seal for those was obsolete, but i got one from VW, same as the windscreen, the 'seal' on the outside is just trim, can be removed without taking the window out, and are available from VW too, Rear Screen VW-535853355A01C ($166.75 AUD) Front Screen VW-535845127A ($86.15 AUD) Hope all goes well !!

Thats a shame nobody wanted to do it, mine is in for a respray at the moment and the painter knew someone who removes glass, he took out all the interior trim, and cut the sealant from the inside with a blade held flat against the screen, with soapy water. Coolrado told me how he done his, and i printed it off for him. The seals along the bottom of the driver/passenger windows are called window slot seals 535837473A01C and 535837474A01C for left and right, i paid 33 pounds each from GPC. Matt

Cheers guys, nice to hear from you Blair, was wondering if you ever came back :salute: Firecracker, i sent it with www.karmanshipping.co.uk - have a look at their website, its full of all the relevant links, forms and info you'll need to get the ball rolling. Its not the cheapest way to ship a car to Australia but it is the quickest, and you're allowed to fill the car with personal effects. You could hire a container and fill it with whatever, good if you have furniture etc. I paid 1500 pounds in 2005 to get it sent over, then various fee's, taxes, compliance and registration amounting to around another 2000 pounds  Was worth it for me  I'll update with more progress pics or when its done. I got lucky with the RS 301's, i asked on E38 for some that were for sale, but he didn't want the hassle of posting them here for me, then i got a PM from someone offering me his, it turned out that it was a set with the exact spec i wanted, original paint in the centres, half height caps, polished outer lips, 8" Rear and 7.5" front. Then i realised i had seen the exact rims at E38 in '05 just before i came here, and took a pic of them on his Rallye ! Happy days !!

Yeah sure, the general rule is that to import a car to Australia you must get residency or citizenship first, then you must of owned the car for a minimum of 12 months. Then you can apply for an import approval. Have a look at this site www.karmanshipping.co.uk its got all the relevant links and info you need, i shipped my car with them, but you can do it either by hiring your own container, sharing a container (they build a timber frame around your car in the container) or by roll on roll off ferry which is the cheapest. The good thing about it going in a sole use container with karman is that its quicker (4 weeks) and you're allowed to fill the car with personal effects. If you need any more info or think i can help just ask  Matt -
Cheers mate.... Nothing radical no, just the original colour, i love the metallic black but i did think of spraying it silver at one stage

Coolant, looked like good weekend, love the Corrado, 17" RC's look so good on a red rado. Good work :notworthy:

Hi Bally, like i said most parts i got were VAG, but the sound deadening came from ARZ Tuning, that site has been handy i've found, and postage seems to be cheap from Germany to Australia. Cheers mate :salute:

Not tempted to ship it here ? I can help you out if you decide to. -
Hello all, its been a while since i looked at this thread, thought i'd update it a bit. My Corrado has been pretty much trouble free i have to say, i had trouble with firstly my original coil giving up, then a bad run of 3 dodgy aftermarket coils letting me down along with a hall sender in the same week. I can't honestly think of any other trouble, apart from general wear and tear of course, headlight switch, engine mounts, battery etc. I've driven it alot too, its been used daily for nearly 3 years over here now, i moved from Sydney to Byron Bay cos i was getting sick of being stuck in traffic, drove there with no trouble (800km), then thrashed it on little country roads to get to work and back for 10 months, so much fun ! Then i drove it from Byron Bay to Melbourne where i live temporarily now, again it didn't miss a beat all the way here, spent a week getting down here.... Typical accomadation on the roadside for us Book1.pdf139.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] 1000 miles counting from Byron and we still hadn't arrived !! stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdf153.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] So it been reliable, but is starting to look worn out, my 16" RS were refurbed and sold, and now i have a temp set of Zender Turbos kindly lent to me from someone on a Australian VW forum ! I've always wanted some 301's so i'm going to covert to 5 stud as my brakes are worn, and bearings could do with replacing too. ETKA Corrado.pdf002.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] And i had a little rust eating away at it over last 4 years slowly, someone nudged me once in Sydney and left a dent, plenty of stone chips appearing and trims etc etc looking faded from the sun. stromlaufplan_gamma4.pdf004.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] Corrado92.pdf007.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] So, time for a respray! I've been using the forum to search what others have replaced when re-painting which has been helpful, i've ordered plenty of stuff ... Mostly genuine VAG. i've got New front Spoiler and mounting bracket New sound deadening for under the bonnet New windscreen seal New roof mouldings New rear screen moulding New sunroof outer seal New rear number plate surround New front grille New tow eye caps on their way New front fog lights New indicator lenses New driver side door seal New window slot seals New Corrado script door sill scuff plates New washer jets for the bonnet New gaskets where the door handles are attached to the doors New gaskets where the mirrors are attached to the doors New headlight switch New Golf diesel gearbox mount (stiffer than the standard one) New Rear engine mount New Vibra Technics front engine mount passat climatronic wiring diags.pdf001.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] New Rallye Radiator, it was getting a bit hot some days with that little Rad, and i've had a Rallye FMIC waiting to be installed for 3 years ! 011.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] These pics were taken yesterday at the body shop, its getting there, i decided to de-wiper the rear and lose the side repeaters and door mouldings, it should be ready for me to pick up in 2 weeks, then start putting it back together, can't wait !! climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf001.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf002.JPG[/attachment:354kxdqc] I'll post up what it looks like when its resprayed and has its new rimage on i expect. Cheers, take it easy all. Matt

Would be awesome if you could bring it here with you mate (i couldn't leave mine behind !), where abouts are you moving to ? -
I am, find them vey boring and common, sorry ! *EDIT* Nice paint though.
-
Whoops, slip of the finger. Edited for your brain ache ! I just wondered if they were sold by VW there.
-
I had no idea there were some there till today, does anyone know if they were sold there or if these are imports ?? I did order some parts for mine the other day and the parts guy said that some bits were coming from Singapore, so maybe they were sold there. This guy posted on our Australian VW forum with this one Then another guy had seen these on Vortex at a Bangkok meet up, US spec bumper on the Grey one Nice looking G60
-
Guys, do you know if the door seals are obsolete now ?? I've read on here that a guy asked VW for some and got told they were obsolete. I'm taliking about the seal that is on the body that the door closes against. GPC told me they couldn't get them. My driver side one is torn, the car is being re-sprayed at the mo and i want one soon when i start putting it back together..... Cheers *Cancel that, i just found some on the ARZ website*
-
Are you ringing 01582 728892 ?? I don't think they're open on Saturday mornings anymore, maybe they unplugged the phone ! Hows it going anyway Mike, are you still thinking of moving over to Aus ?
-
I had trouble getting through last week, they didn't answer on Saturday. Never had an email back from them but got stuff all sorted in the end.
-
Should be fine mate, i've had 003's on mine, i've got a set of 7x15 ET20 Zender Turbo's on at the mo, still plenty of room there. Try ebay.de or www.justmatz.co.uk for centre caps.
-
Cool, those bulbs look to be worth buying, i'll order some in a minute. Still havn't received my tints in the post, i've got 2 sets of rear lights to play with so i may end up spraying them again, cheers for the link.
-
Have you put the 5x100 hubs on with wider 301's yet ? I'd like to see a pic of that to get an idea of what the offset looks like.
-
Good stuff guys, thanks for that. I managed to order the Windscreen and Rear Window Trim from VW Australia, part numbers were; Rear Screen VW-535853355A01C $166.75 AUD Front Screen VW-535845127A $86.15 AUD They are coming from Germany, he quoted $400AUD a side for the rear quarter glass.
-
My car is being sprayed next week, the body shop told me i'll need a new Windscreen, Rear Window and Rear side window seals. GPC have told me i can only get them with new windows as they are part of the complete units. I've read that people have re-used the side rear window seals and says how to in my Bentley manual. But what about the Rear Window and Windscreen Seals, does anyone have any experience with them after removing them ?? Cheers Matt
