  1. Yet again im looking for some advice on steering / suspension problems. Currently experiences some oddities that are driving me mad as i can't put my finger on whats causing it. Every so often i hear a quick clanging / rattle sound coming from the front left. Might call it a knocking sound im having difficulty differentiating the noises. I've heard it recently while driving pretty much straight ahead while on a slightly bumpy bit of road. Heard it again as i was pulling up at home served across the road to back into the driveway and as it was returning to centre i could hear a knock. Along with this oddity ive also seem to have picked up a odd shudder from the left side while turning, gives the impression the car wobbles only really noticeable on turns of roughly 90 degrees. Not sure if thats connected at all, but both symptoms have presents them selves at the same time. Prior the problems i had the front springs replaced and the tracking done. Recently i have had the front shocks, top mounts and ball joints replaced. Any ideas, im wondering about bearings or CV joints but i'm out of my league with diagnosis these problems.

    Respray costs

I've recently looked into this as my C is a little cosmetically challenged, few dents on the drivers side, little rust on the drivers wing arch, bumpers have seen some touch parking and of course the usual peppered front end. First quote i got was around the £750 mark for part spare minus the front end. Second was a cash in hand job with a mate who works at the VW bodyshop, quoted roughly £1k for a full spare, told me it might go upto 1.2k with placing plastic trims and mouldings.
  3. If im not mistaken the bolt is just up from the bottom of the of the steering coloum where is joins the base plate. Good find Kev, several of mine where loose definitely a more sturdy feel now. Shame its not cured my steering, but every little helps
  4. I would have though its just a straight swap no need for wings, after all its only the centre with any difference between them.
  5. Cost wise your looking at £800-£1000 with a specialist or £1250 with VW. Best to have the clutch changed while the box is off too.
  6. Thanks much appreciated, will order those up.
  7. Mine has exhibited this trait at times, normally when cold its noticeable up to roughly 2200rpm. I had my coil pack, leads and plugs replaced at the end of last year. To be honest ive not really looked into it too closely, ive had mine on VAG-com too, no faults.
  8. Ive got several cds rolling around in the car at the moment Pharcyde - Labcabincalifornia Faithless - Reverence 2x Mixed cds with random Hip Hop and Progressive Trance Another cd with a collection of James Holden tunes JimsG60 Another Hybrid fan here, granted not listen to much in a while
  9. Hoping someone with EKTA can give me a couple of part numbers. I've circled the main part, its the black oval box that comes off the ISV and joins to the side of the TB. Id also like the part numbers for the two pipes that come off it. Thanks On a side note whats this thing do ??
  10. Colour is probably Midnight/Moonlight blue. If you look in the front of your service book or on the inside of the boot there is a large sticker with loads of numbers and letter on. You will notice a code on it own, something like LC5U. Thats the colour code, one the other guys im sure can give you the link to a site that lists all paint codes.
  11. Thanks for the info, guess i should have explained. Im not looking to delock, sticking with standard kit. Changing the catch mechanisms as they have let me down in the past. So in my usual rado repair fashion while im doing one thing ill replace whatever else its connected too..... Within reason
  12. Im looking to replace the door handles and catch mechanisms on my C. Bit of a multi part question this, so here goes. 1: To replace these parts are there any other hidden parts i will require or should replace too ? 2: Any rough guide to doing this job. Is it a case of remove the handle followed by the catch, replace in reverse ? 3: Changing lock tumblers, is this a job you can do at home. I'd prefer to keep my current key for the doors. 4: Finally rough costing would be appreciated, i know GPC do the handles for £45 but dont do the catches. Will i be taken if get it all from the stealers ? Cheers
  13. ABS rotor cages sit, i believe behind the disk. The ABS sensor uses the cage to out if the wheel has become locked. If it becomes locked the ABS kicks in to pump the breaks. Rear wheel bearing are pressed into the hubs of the rear disks. Please correct me if i've got this wrong
  14. You can buy that breather valve from Ford for about £20. More information HERE
  15. Dark Blue G60 J*** PJC parked outside Long Cottage in Appleshaw
  16. Well ill be, didnt know there was RR in Andover. Will have to take the C for a little trip.
  17. Just noticed when starting the VR up this evening that there is a strange whistle. Sounds sort of like a turbo. Noise is coming from the back of the block, ISV i think. Cant see anything loose, but if i put my hand over it the airy sound became quiet. On a side note i did notice earlier today the car seemed a little flat while accelerating. Any ideas ?
  18. Sorry to jump in, can anyone recommend a good alarm installation company in the Hampshire area ?
  19. Yep, drive a VR with a little care and it returns reasonable MPG. I regually get 28-32mpg with non-agressive driving, plant the loud peddle to the floor and watch it drop.
  20. Why dont new cars have this feature, would deture certain ..[insert word/s].. drivers who insist on using them unnecessarily.

    VR6 Cutting out

Mines done the same to me twice now, another common feature of the Corrado then.
  22. From looking at the tread design thats what i thought. Stopped off at a local place on the way home. They have those two tires listed on their system and the RE720 is nearly out while the 040 had plenty they too made the broad assumption that its a replacement.
  23. The time has come to replace my aging tyres. After seeing many people praise the Bridgestone RE720's i thought i'd go with them. Serveral places ive called have told be these are being discontiued, and are being replaced by the RE040. Anyone had any experience with RE040, are they any good ? Looked on tyretest and seems to be a mixed responce Or should i just buy up some of the RE720's
  24. Good to hear alls sorted now, i never trusted drug tests, personally never had one though. Ive have lost my rag with them after that. Did they have the decency to apologise at all ?
  25. Sorry to jump in on this thread, where can you get learning remotes from. I could do with getting a spare.
