Reg M10 VW vr6 seen this evening in eastcote. Looked stunning!

I put some closed cell foam behind the door cards but the problem is the door cards sit very close to the door skin so its hard to get a hood tight fit. I'm looking into some other materials, ideally a heavy open cell foam to absorb noise whilst also acting as a blocker. The other is a sound blocking films for the glass. Very expensive atm but hopefully in time the prices will come down But the corrado is quite a hard car to reduce noise in.

Nice finish there, looks like it's well sealed
-
looks very nice. whereabouts are you based?
-
Yes the mk4 handbrake switch doesn't quite line up properly (i have done the same swop) but i would then expect the light to be on all the time, unless its been disconnected

Looks very nice in those pics. Any shots of the engine bay and cabin? Any mods, other than the lupo wipers?

Some years back kevhaywire used some micro relays in a loom he ran inside the car to keep the relays nice and dry. Any chance any of the pics from older threads might be available again? It would give a good idea of how he did it and how he ran the cable through the bulkhead.

I'll get a pic of my FCM shortly and post up Hasan

Shaun? This looks interesting. Instead of using a load resistor on the rears with Leds, it would be great if it were automatically managed by the relay. Any info on which one to get? And does it work if only one set of indicators are LED or will they all need to be swopped? Or if only the fronts and rears are swopped? Thanks. Hasan

My thoughts here too. Also could be the ecu relay 109. Same as Dox says, check if the tacho falls to zero when it happens

Thanks. I used to have the engine beam but sold it after doing the manual conversion. Might support the engine underneath with some wood blocks in order to keep the bonnet closed Days getting shorter might mean i'll leave it for next year - ideally looking to do the bushes, front engine mount and rad fan shroud. Plus the normal cleaning & polishing! A garage would have been nice, but unfortunately n/a..

that really does look good and photographed well.

useful pic Shaun, many thanks. Btw, its been ages since i took the front of the car off and i'm loathe to leave it on the ramps overnight. Any pointers to be aware of and roughly how much time should i allow for a swop of the bushes? IIRC, i used copper slip on the bumper screws so dont anticipate any issues there, but that was when i did the auto-manual swop. I'll also be fitting the poly front mount i got on the group buy about 10 years ago!

certainly doesn't look like the electric one, unless there's a housing and some fitment bracket for the motor..

whats happened to yours? Have you tested it with a 12v direct supply? If it is not opening properly it might benefit from a clean and lube. Easily done with some carb cleaner shaken around for a while and then lightly lubricated with oil or a silicon spray. Pulse it again a few times afterwards to see the flap opens and closes cleanly.

Interesting comment on the Febi one - would certainly be a shame if it were a Topran rebrand.

i think NRF make HXs for mining equipment too, so should be pretty good i imagine. Interested to hear your findings Keyo There's also a Febi one here from Opie Oils: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163557255134?fits=Car+Make%3AVW|Model%3ACorrado&epid=249415001&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2614c5a7de:g:EqsAAOSw91hbLkK2&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACkPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsStBvoja9QbbKZL7Re0InmXdA1EgntR2TyC%2B%2BkM5T21QyhGSS7Zg7nxIt8%2Fw8WJ9QTuqIVmSpZz%2BijXGjrCymFMEtnIKeaq4HkbSSf7vxtCFDNNSjbAoiy9dBNO%2BiueJXkrf9KWbOtNKANqXkUV%2FaDAAOdg1sqM1rqAZIm0R9%2F1YYonVZghXjgQWuCGJlA8Lb3Qd1Wmid5QHnB2kTD1fNw7lUk2hXBzyrVAms4oUaVOrytHgvC3K9CGFfvTssF55FHSE7aZH9l6FBTj6RwuvSJs0goFn2pNXvZDHqmV5QJSKwMDPGpuiTBctsAzquBBZaoKc0VzxdFo1k3vAPIiEGeYq9LoyWvQEsW1GS4xFlSK5yzisH14T1ZW0VPjofjd30SFd0qgXYlIJc05JpXQY2M6hdtl7BPNeMaBdxRfXJ%2FVSUhWipGKeCov5P7nBydVJcPC%2BsMOCSMEG%2BEcZ5CZjyntrqfmEdsBO7WKTYYXRWv44hlZuIURJWS9003jp%2FA5%2FgJFNlpwWdvJ8W5p0onen13FobpZuZOJsnFMCT5Q8my2BJUKZ0iWG%2BGnDvo8J%2FWMhoKKKXxPKHmZQ%2FutFjUBrQ3CoeF4t5SsAQfmwztx8XWXrDAgUUzmu2yaT68hKmG6B7V3fct3KK4iLOFwkhJV2lT4As%2FDYp47w8RBh1tpeU2wTERBGNyeJYnFp7Qp7euhuuVuclAvfMsuzndmnC%2BSyy%2BGeUwv7wT6Xf7CmwOZSAWPDsIEj%2FRAzlPkJqGtj8rM%2Byu6phnYISjjkAEcNCMDghn8qLYGjvrSJrW4DiaWLyCn3IxSzEJtr8yDt8TWa3iGEBo|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2499334 Hasan

The little grey plastic packets are there to turn the sound vibrations into low grade thermal energy. Generally not used now as there are better products. Like you say, i would just bin the old felt but might be a good idea to hang on to the heavy mass layer on top. That is actually your sound blocker. I have taken that all out and laid some fresh MLV with the foam underneath, but you could just as easily remove the rotten felt and stick some foam in its place to decouple the mass layer from the noise source. The issue we have is the lack of space - too thick and the carpets etc wont fit back properly. The good thing with reusing the old black panels is that you know they fit exactly and will not allow any sound to pass through any unknown gaps. Hope that helps Hasan

i usually keep a few old oil filter orings and other seals for this kind of purpose - stig of the dump! Hasan

just to bring this one up again, which way round do they go? I assume the tapered part is inside the cross member? Or are they the same both ways? Planning to do mine some time soon... Edit: just checked my spare set in the garage and they're not directional

Ah damn I removed that from my corrado a few years ago but only threw it out during a clearout recently. Worked perfectly..
