  1. The best setup for cooling a charged engine is a single 25bhp shot just before the throttle butterfly. I have 100bhp jets in my system when it was sinlge point injectioin, i now have 6 nitrous/fuel injectors, one per cylinder and it's supercharged too and the VR is more than happy with is and has been for about 3years and has 170,000miles on it. Chris
  2. Generally you will only be moving the cams 3-7degrees though but can make a very noticable difference like you say Wire! Chris
  3. Mine were red from out of the box so left them and they look fine, each time the car's washed they look like new so what's the point of painting the bits you want to show off black? Chris
  4. The Verniers are available i just don't know from where but i'm adam-ant to find out. Remind Vince of the ABT with them in the head or better still ask the previous owner as you know him you may be able to find some info. Even on a std engine the cams can be accurately adjusted and benefit from them to give both smoother running and more power for the same fuel. Chris
  5. Will someone sort the non working pics out! Chris
  6. I have something to say here on the topic of the VR turbo kits. If you will be doing a turbo kit and using a spacer could you find out where to get Vernier timing wheels for the 12V VR to correct the timing which is way out especially if a spacer is used! Chris
  7. Chris, i don't believe there's anything wrong with the sensors, but you can swap with mine to check and compare at the weekend, if you want to change them you can donate the old ones to me. I think the dash is at fault there as all the sensors did work from memory. I changed the rad temp sensor and everything is working great now, running cool and right without the bloody fans kicking in at speed 3 and running til the battery was flat! Chris
  8. They look like painted steelies Chris. Can't be bothered to faff with PS just now, but might have a tinker some time, i did loads of ps stuff in the last ps thread and not tinkered much with it lately other than use for thte website. I like lots of different wheels but not blown away by these sorry, but why these from a Merc? can you get some cheap or something? Chris
  9. Should have sised them down a bit for a better comparrison really as the look is some what oout of proportion Chris
  10. The best one to enter is the Bullrun as it's basically the same but with better people and works out less expensive plus i know the owners/organisers so can arrange the entry for you directly! And give you a heads up on a number of things and contacts. The gumball Rally was Max Cooper and David Green, they fell out and went thier own ways
  11. Crispy Kev, not meaning to hijack this thread but that's good news, you'll have to post the info on the 'Supercharged thread' for referrence Chris
  12. alternatively, but a charger kit as the charger will then act as a tensioner and do away with the OEM item   Chris
  13. xxz?x//xZXZ?! makes me sputter with murthful perplexity
  14. A20 LEE, are you gonna drive it like it's stolen like i do? Chris
  15. You can get the block machined with grooves around the bores and use steel wire to cause high pressure on the gasket making it seal seriously well for high power handling. Chris
  16. H8RRA has stock of both plastic and Hazet metal ones! PM him Chris
  17. Riley, Where you from, your GF sounds like Stockton or Brough? Funny the way she's giving you jip to slow down and you take no notice at all! classic  Chris
  18. Well RW1 is quite correct and it's a sensible question but come on, just change it and nip the nylock nut up using a little sense, i was surprised that anyone needed to ask this question but i suppose i shouldn't think like this if you have no mechanical reference at all. Chris
  19. Well said RS VR6, and you're from the USA so should know! As i said all of the Vortech units are great and bullit proof but the unit isn't the kit! The V1/2 units are impressive but are deffinately larger and trickier to fit in the Corrado, more suited to the Golf though as highlighted above, they are only producing 6 or 8 or 10psi depending upon which stage you are using so it's matterless really which one is used when all comes to all. I like my V9 but wouldn't have been fussed either way if it was a V2 instead of the V9 as 8psi is 8psi. Chris
  20. Well i guess i have to shout in here. Both the C2 and the VF kits are good by virtue that they both use the Vortech units. That's where it pretty much ends. The C2 system was only launced as an OBDII compliant system with no map or support for OBDI or distributor models. Quote from C2 "Please follow us through upcoming months as we dedicate to bring you Stage-II, Stage-III, and Stage-IV kits." "C2 motorsports stage II kit (stage II = 42# injectors ... 1 headspacer) inclduing a Vortech V2 supercharger" This means a total head off job and all that goes with it and from what i'm lead to believe from C2 thier kit isn't for a Corrado either so good luck getting the Golf charger inlet to fit because i couldn't! and i tried plenty! Ther aren't setup for the Corrado by any means, It's based upon and aimed at the Golf market and that is a larger engine bay and an OBDII ECU and a 2.8L engine, i'll let you come to your own conclusions. I stand to be corrected on all of the above however all the info was gleaned from the C2 site it's self or from a representative of C2. VF-engineering I have abused my VF kit for a couple of years now and i have nearly 170,000miles on my engine with no issues at all due to the Vortech charger. Always starts and runs smooth as well as Guy H and Kevhaywire, Trippy and H8RRA to name but a few. The kit is sorted for the Corrado specifically and uses the slightly more compact Vortech V9fSQ S-trim charger unit with the correctly dimensioned inlet pipe and a specific UK adjusted map. The V9 unit can happily produce 23psi but is only asked to deliver 8psi in this tune for the STGII kit. There has been issues with a couple of things but the guys in the supply chain were there to help and cause a solution. In fact, Nik whom owns VF-engineering phoned me up one evening to resolve an issue with a map needed to run H8RRA's CP version ECU with immobilizer and Nik stayed on the phone whilst we received the new map by email then whilst blowing it onto the chip and fitting into the ECU then whilse starting and had GIAC on the other phone so as to be able to action a resolve in the shortest time and give the best dealer support. This could not be expected by any other supplier or re-seller with any stretch of the imagination. There is plenty more i could say but my fingers are tired so will leave it for another post. i augmented a GB for the STGII VF kit and 6 were purchased, 4 from this forum. I can only condone the VF kit supplied and distributed by Raj at NS Racing in London for the above reasons! Chris
  21. you NEED to do a reset just to start the process from scratch! Chris
  22. Had twin 40DCOE carbs on my MKII Escort with a stageIII head and loads more, great carbs if set up correctly! Chris
  23. It's worth doing a search on this as not long ago i put up some good pics of just such a mod! Chris
  24. The solid mount it non flexing so you take that the way it is and if it causes damage tearing or flexing then that's the result, and is why the mount is meant to have some flex in it! The bolt or stud and nut should be ok as they are tightened up but one little bit of play and it can snap after flexing over time that's a given so check carefully all the area and the fixings. The only thing i can advise for the future is to get a performance emount with some flexible region built in! Chris
  25. do you have a A/F ratio gauge? May be an investment to be sure that the top end isn't going lean! Chris
