  1. added me too as yes, it seems to have stopped being gay for the moment :)
  2. hope they're going to be fully cleaning your engine bay from all the dust thats in there!!
  3. ahh well, i guess you just have to take a fairly open-minded view about the definition of consumbables! definitely a shame about the rad though.. :(
  4. wow, something must have been moving a lot?
  5. made them the same size if that helps Desktop.jpg[/attachment:8mbxh540] decided in the end given that the price was still going to stand for you all that I was going to wait till money wasnt such an issue as it is at the moment. I was going to go for black though which did look very good at the factory! not sure why we forgot to take any picture of those and the white ones at the time though
  6. about 98% of people on the forum are in the UK hence probably no reference to US workshops. I guess you'd be better off looking on VWVortex or another US focussed forum? If theres anything else we can help with then let us know!
  7. fair enough if you're struggling, but with all due respect, have you actually made some effort to start on the steep learning curve yet? maybe i was a little quick in my first reply but from your post this time it just doesnt seem like you've actually tried to find anything out on your own yet, which is kind of what i was suggesting might have been a plan before. anyway, to make up for being unfair, I'll happily show you the FAQ page of the number one result for "tyres" on Google - Blackcircles. They give you a handy explanation of what the numbers mean: http://www.blackcircles.com/general/sidewall secondly, if you want to change the size of your tyres, you might want to have a search around for cars with wheels your size that have stretched tyres. "vw estorils stretch" might give you something like this: http://www.wheel-whores.com/forum/viewt ... 19#p167731 if you wanted to see what sizes you could go for without throwing your speedo out then you could compare them on a site like this: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html ("tyre size calculator" found that one) then if you'd come up with what you think you'd like to go for then you might post up to see what others thought about your plans (ie. maybe 185/50/15 or 175/50/15?) and I'm sure people would be happy to comment. ultimately though only you know how much stretch you want and you need to see it for your own eyes first, people commenting will just be telling you what they like, which will be different for everyone. but having read what the numbers mean for yourself by that stage will obviously help you judge your preference. hope that helps answer all your questions.
  8. It's lifted in a few places. :( this has just happened to my (not that long repainted) bonnet now too, in the space of about 3 days. bum and balls..
  9. Poo. Presumably OEM wheels are the domed variety - and that means a full set of bolts needs buying. :( maybe try for a swap with one of the guys in the compomotive group buy thread - they need conical and will currently have radius if they're on standard style wheels
  10. height normally means disc thickness and the extra width beyond the disc face to the wheel mounting face.
  11. 195s you wouldnt notice too much i dont think, may do that myself next time seeing as they're about half the price.. :)
  12. no piston rings or bearings included in that then?
  13. unless they're massively spaced out then stretching on 6.5in wheels would look very weedy i think..
  14. read it all over the course of today, amazing :salute: but at the same time, there are a few guys on here that have the skills to do the same i think  he said just taxing a 2nd hand imported M3 was going to cost something like $80k. I guess that he was probably working on the project costing half that excluding the M3 donor, so say $40k including the 318? i would guess that as his mates did some of the work means maybe $10k for labour (welding + paint) and he probably paid $15-20k for parts (excluding the S/C) and then $10k for the 318. a big project but as he said, a lot less than the $100k-200k for a brand new taxed car!
  15. really? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=vw+estorils
  16. was on elephant when the car was standard but they went right up after the engine mods so i binned them off then. may have improved now though?
  17. 100mph used to equal 112-114 degrees for me (on a VR) which i thought was too much so i got a mocal cooler. as before, if you already have one then 124 is waaaay too high and its not fixed at all..
  18. ah, yeah, maybe thats who i meant when i said rally design earlier :D
  19. yeah, apparently he's been ditched and replaced already - new one in place at some Top Gear PR event in germany.
  20. thats a reasonble price yes - Rally Design amongst others have run Group Buys on these in the past.
  21. here you go - viewtopic.php?f=23&t=87693 - i'll lock this so questions can stay in that thread.
  22. ^^^ yeah, contrasting against the exterior would make it look better i agree.
