  1. I know this ...timing gets affected in other ways besides a dizzy :?
  2. That's due to pre-detonation,its a chemical in the fuel that causes that(sulphur),check ignition timing and the fuel your putting in.
  3. There is a ball bearing with a spring in side the end of the lock, when it wears the ball gets stuck and the spring gets entangled, thus your lock might work fine with key but the central locking cant pull or push the lock. Solution is to strip it and clean it out stretch the spring fit back ball bearing and grease. Done Three so far and it works well. I will try to dig out a picture.

  11. I would have took that further if it was VW, I'm a mechanic and test drive cars as well ,but you have to have respect in customers pride and joy, just ask yourself if you would thrash your own car like that?(sometimes  ) I came off light and its made me slow right down and I tend to cruze more 8) ,life's to short for a quick thrill :x Just Cruze....................
  12. There are two to four bolts underneath where the wiper motor is and there are some through the bulkhead where the brake pipes are ect to hold on heater box...get some WD40 on ASAP as they are a tw*t when seized :x It should look like this

  15. The job is quite easy, once the inlet manifold is off,its straight forward, just note the cam chain slots at front when timing it up and check the top chain guide as they tend to wear and that's a gearbox out job. :( Once the head is off ,whip out the valves pop off old stem seals fit new and hey presto.. since your that far down it might as well have the sump off to drop out pistons to check the rings, when re-installing the rings you might have to modify your piston ring compressor to compensate for the angle of the block...you'll see  But with you pops and the book no probs 8)
  16. seen the bolt on Vf supercharges for the R32 ? 340bhp and a total of 4500 quid ouch that would be good
  17. That will be stem seals, as it draws oil past them on overrun when throttle is shut,if bores where wore that much it would smoke all the time. You will l here it knocking from stone cold too :( Not steping on toes Kev  First thing i would do is pull the head off and get the stem seals changed as they account for a lot of oil burnig, while you at it drop sump off and check the rings .
  18. I agree, they look the part but it doesn't handle or feel good on the road with 17",the stock 15"speedlines are fantastic wheels if a bit dull ....everybody to there own I suppose
