FINALLY being sprayed up as we speak, we found a wet patch under the rear wheel arch that we couldnt figure out where it was coming from or what it was (as it hadnt been outside for about 3 months!) so we held off until it dried up and wont be coming back. we sealed all the arches up so now she should last for ages and has no rust or damage to her at all! YAY! so she should be rolling out of the bodyshop within the next 2-3 weeks ready for everything else to go in. Im still yet to decide on what colour carpet to go in her, and ive still got to pick my porsche seats up from Darren and get them retrimmed. Theres still plenty to do and i still think it'll be touch and go whether i can get it all done by the end of the year....
-
yeah, ive got one of those, just not as colourful though! works fine except on mine you have to screw the end in really tight to make sure that it doesnt re-adjust itself when you are doing something up.
-
why dont you do both?? ive got a 2.016vG60 and im using a BBM charger on mine. a 1.916v conversion would probably be cheaper than a 2.0 and you can probably get the same power from it (all depends on how refined the engine is). at least then you wont always wonder 'what if i did the 16v conversion?' or 'what if i did the 1.9 conversion instead?'
-
thats just wrong. Its so impractical, so they will probably sell loads to all the toffs. whats the point of the roof being shaped like that?? be prepared for plunging BMW X5 prices soon!
-
i think it has the retro look of those Nissan Figaro things that potter about. Looks quite good IMO. not that id buy one of course, its a Fiat after all! (Fix It Again Tommy)
-
fatal.

sounds like it was an easy fix then?? must be the difference in buying a golf to a corrado. if it was another corrado a few thousand more things would have gone wrong at the same time!!

i just bodged on some new battery terminals and cables (as i was going to pull the engine out for a respray and rebuild). you can get them from halfords and other auto factors. they only need to be 5-6 inches long, but in the long term id suggest extending your cables properly, using proper joins, or even better pull it all out and start again with fresh new cables....
-
no room to stick an Audi V8 in the back then ??
-
i'd just buy a whole new unit from VAG. they arent overly expensive. and would be a lot cheaper than buying a new engine because its overheated....

8012-254 is the model number and is a 55Ah one, my mistake!

yeah, thats exactly it, its all in the labour. but apparently getting hold of my color 'Dark burgandy pearl' (in quality paint) is really hard, i had a look at the list of tints that make up the colour and there was about 6-8 of them. but i certainly agree that you get what you pay for. anybody can spray a car, but can they spray it well?
-
im using one on my G60. Without digging it out of the shed, i THINK its the 75 version. but i did find that you need to extend the battery cables as mine were not long enough to fix onto the terminals. also it was slightly wider so i had to modify the battery clamp, by making the hole bigger. Amazing batteries. seem to last forever and start the car straight away with nearly no cranking at all! think i got mine off ebay. they use them alot in Land rovers i think.
-
well the guy who im paying is doing a top notch job on mine, and promises that it will be WAY better than anything that came out of a factory. ok, its taken 4 months instead of the 3 weeks he first stated, but the engine bay is sprayed up and if the rest of the car is going to be as good if not better than that, it'll be amazing! all lead filled too, none of this modern sinking filler! plus he said if i find ANY imperfections on it, the he will take it back and do it all over again! mind you, i am paying over £5500 for the pleasure!
-
And clearly, that's exactly who they've aimed it at. It's no longer a racer for the road in any way whatsoever. A great shame. The E30 M3 is definately the best handling car I've driven. totally agree with that. I was having the same conversation about the M3s at E38 with Junkie. the M badge is no longer a sign of a proper drivers car and has turned more into a status symbol. waste of time really!

Respectable to who?! theres people on this very forum that are getting only 20MPG from their 1.8 Corrados. id be happy if i could drive my monster V10 around all day safe in the knowledge that there are cars with 1/3 the power that are getting the same if not worse fuel economy!
-
twin turbo V10!!! bet its going to have a crazy pricetag! loving the rear arches in the picture. looks like a really butch bulldog!
-
sounds good, i was going to buy this one as well. probably a good thing you got there first (my driveway would look like a vw dealership if i did) for a grand you cant go wrong! be nice to see it sometime!
-
they look really good, didnt know you could even get them in 4 stud. might have to purchase a set myself now!
-
so if it isnt very sticky, what happens if you drive down the motorway at 70+MPH and starts to come off?? might look a bit Blue Peter!! haha
-
yeah i agree, one of the best (if not THE best car on the forum) i love it to bits. really well cared for. you should be very proud of her.
-
sounds good to me. thats a rather large intercooler you have there (in comparison to mine anyway) where did you get it from??
-
looks great chap, really making me jealous now, everybody is finishing their 16vG60s before me.... :( what sort of power you hoping to get from it ??
-
yeah 60's mustang Fastback or coupe, havent decided yet, just got to live with the stigma of having a tiny ding-dong if i drive it around. the Truth hurts!
-
the way around this would be to buy an ol' banger (like my Mk3 Gti for example) as a daily driver, and put the Corrado back in the garage and bring it out at weekends. that way you can see how good the corrado really is. The most commonly used phase whenever im driving around in the golf now is: 'wish i had the corrado right about now.' hence the reason my girlfriend wants the corrado back on the road before i do (must be bugging her a bit!)
