OK, so what are the chassis and running gear (not to mention a large chunk of the body panels) from then? :-P Yup, I'll stick by my Spitfire Coupe description... My uncle has 2 of 'em and my other uncle used to have one too... I love 'em to bits! 8) Post up some pics of it anyway... is it yours? 8)

UPDATE: Well, I've now found out that Maplins have stopped selling this unit, which is a shame... but seeing as there's rumours that they're about to go bankrupt floating around, it's hardly suprising... :| I've also found out that Dension's after sales support is THE best I've ever come across! Soooo helpful and quick to reply on their website... 8) :notworthy: Oh, and Toshiba 80Gb 2.5" HDDs are crap... (well, the one I had which has just failed was anyway...  ) Glad I have a backup copy of all of my MP3s at home so I won't have to try and re-record 50 to 60 GB of MP3s again! :| 8)

nope, AFAIK all Corrados had riveted ball joints from the factory. If they were replaced, nuts and bolts were used instead.
-
oooh, not seen those before.... I like "buy it now" buttons... ;) 8) I'm with Gav on the "can never have too many tools" thing... ;)

1year, 1 month and 11 days! :| Holy thread resurrection batman!  kerrinmay, yup, just drop the cable down the back, there's bags of room back there! 8) It's loads easier if you take off the passenger side lower dash shelf and lie in the footwell so you can see what you're doing... 8)

stanbates, you sure? Halfords sells aftermarket removal pins for just about every stereo manufacturer I've ever come across... :|
-
just out of interest, has any of the cars with wheels that stick out different amounts had new wishbones or balljoints fitted? The VAG standard wishbone/balljoints are riveted together... aftermarket ones use nuts and bolts which can allow the ball joint to move upto around 4 or 5mm within the slots in the wishbones... Could it be that someone just hasn't lined up a new ball joint properly? (especially on a MKI as that WON'T be running it's original balljoints or wishbones by now! )

almost certainly not... the springs on the front will be too soft for a VR anyway 'cos of the extra weight of the VR... :|

dr_mat, and they don't show up very well in direct sunlight... hence they're illegal... Have a look at the back of a BMW with LED rear lights (or some new busses) and count the number of LEDs used in each light... There's LOADS of 'em, not just a few in an old spec bulb holder cluster configuration... Unless you're planning on putting in as many as BMW, then there's no way these should be legal as the viewing angles are stupidly tight meaning that if you're off axis then you don't get anywhere near the light output you would from a standard incandescent bulb... :|

JB weld will hold anything and is about the strongest stuff I've come across yet.... 8)

8) glad you're getting there! 8) Be prepared though, they may ask for upto 20% of the payout to buy the salvage back... :| J-DUB got a little more expensive to buy back than I was first quoted after I kicked up a fuss and got more cash out of them 'cos the payout crossed over to the next higher buyback value...

my Jabba rebuild didn't even make it to 1 year of use... :| Get it down to G-werks for a rebuild...
-
you should be able to either re-tap it (doubtfull) or get a good garage to put in a heli-coil (basically a hardened coil which acts as a new thread)... no idea how much this costs though... :|
-
it's all toooooooo easy to set 'em up one tooth out...  They don't tend to jump teeth unless the belt wasn't tensioned properly or you've push/bump started the car a couple of times...
-
Dr Forinor, is your clutch slipping at all? could be burning clutch you can smell... :|
-
GIXXERUK, did the same in J-DUB with the JBL tweeters. In H-YYU I've got MB Quart fronts so the tweeters are sat on top of the grilles at slight angles to direct the sound more at the driver... 8)

there was 3 speaker options on the Corrado: Poverty spec: 3.5" mid range speakers in the dash and 6x4" speakers in the rear Mid/normal spec: 3.5" tweeters in the dash, 5.25" speakers in the doors and 6x4" speakers in the rear Rich git spec: AKTIV speaker setup. Amplified version of the mid/normal spec setup with AKTIV written on the speaker grilles.

VR6 has different front suspension from the 4cylinder cars... The front springs/shocks will be different too...

My first one (Tornado red 1.8 16V) I just fell in love with, I wasn't bothered what colour it was when I was looking for that one so it was a bonus that I liked it a lot. When I was looking the second time, I wanted an Aqua blue G60 and ended up with just that in J-DUB... After J-DUB got mildly bent I went to see any cars that WEREN'T Aqua blue so I didn't end up with 2 cars the same colour, but I was certain I wanted another pearl colour so I ended up with Pearl Grey (H-YYU) 8) Ice Grey Violet pearl (or "Nice gay, Violent swirl" as it's been called by some ;) ) is a sweet colour which flips soooo nicely between looking kinda grey and nothing to a lovely violet colour which suits the car sooooo well... 8)

Sunroof Question.. (not snapped cables)- Now Sorted :-)
Henny replied to Ice White Socks's topic in Exterior
kevhaywire, really? That's odd, I just shoved a ratchet screwdriver into the slot and went for it... :| -
Sunroof Question.. (not snapped cables)- Now Sorted :-)
Henny replied to Ice White Socks's topic in Exterior
kevhaywire, early roofs have a slot instead with which you can operate the roof with a flat bladed screwdriver... ;) (got my roof stuck not long ago and had to "assist it" in closing... ;) ) -
Joe M, yup, but it was specc'd around a PG block with standard bolts, it just turned out that my original block was past it and the Rallye block was the replacement I ended up with... The PG engine that's coming out of H-YYU this week will probably get rebuilt (my missus wants to learn about engines! 8) ) to the same internal spec as the 1H I've already got... 8)

dubmad, custom pistons, crank, and standard rods and bearings... 8) Map was no problem at all... £350 and it's spot on now... :) 8) It ran on the standard chip for the first 500 miles, but was over fuelling a lot 'cos I'd changed to red top injectors too... The SNS 5.1 chip helped, and then the remap transformed the car into an utter nutter! 8)

with regards toe the advance, check CAREFULLY that your cam isn't a tooth out on the belt... ;) Been there, seen that, had the same problems you list... Squeeling could well be belts, or even the tensioner pulleys, either for the supercharger belt or the cam belt... good thing is that none of these are expensive, so it's worth changing all 3 (2 supercharger idler pulleys and one cambelt tensioner) I've just changed my cambelt tensioner due to a nasty squeeking noise and this stopped it... 8)
