Thought it was just me! :lol: But yep, why can't any of the VAG mags just nick all the best ideas from the other mags? Technical sections, help and advice, comparing and rating products, in depth articles on the vehicles, etc. Oh bugger, I've just described Classic Car Monthly. :(

No probs Judith, any info's a big help. :D Think with the time scale I've got at the moment probably go for the soapy crud removal and a splash of paint on the calipers. Looking forward to the horrors that may be hidden beneath. :pale:

Don't even bother flicking through the pages in PVW in WHSmith! Too much 'scene', too much from 'america', the list goes on............ Surely just from flicking through this site and the CCGB webpages its possible to find some great Corrados. :wave: But Golf+ seems to be shifting with its new owners as well, Steve Cresswell's column has disapeared from the latest edition and they are sponsoring some chavvy 'Performance & Modified Show' :cuckoo:

Really like watching the WRC but now that Gronhiems' retired there isn't anyone that can touch Leob and he seems to have conquered the snow stages as well. :notworthy:

Planning on taking the wheels off the C and cleaning up the calipers and was thinking of doing inside the wheelarches at the same time. Is there a post about this somewhere? Tried the 'Search' without much luck. :confused4: Help appreciated on do's and dont's and what else can be done while the wheels are off. :scratch: Cheers.

Thinking of buying a cheap and cheerfull machine polisher for the C and after some advice? :help: Found a post from last year with a few good comments about this one from Halfrauds: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165640 Have got a G60 with the metallic grey paint with too many battle scars, so not looking for something to 'show and shine' standards, but would like to take some of the harshness out of the scratches, swirls, few spots of overspray, etc. Got the meguirs 3 stage but have read I would need something a bit harsher if I want a deeper buff out of the swirls, would Scratch X be too abrasive to use on a machine polisher and would the above be up to the job? But mainly after something to save time and hopefully allow me to be able to polish the car a bit more often. Any advice appreciated. :scratch: PS. Have asked a few local valeters/bodyshops about a deep machine polish to remove the marks but all have said I would probably end up with a worse finish as its a metallic paint job. Is this right? :shrug:

Do they have to take the weight of some heavy speakers on your parcel shelf? Got some plastic coated metal wire and a few miniature clamps from work and made my own. Had no problems with stretching since. :clap:

Is it possible to re-do the silver around the bulb? Some of it rubbed off leaving a nasty yellow undercoat(?) while I was cleaning them down before I painted the outside bits black as per the pics. :(

Bit of a tricky job this mate, as their isn't that many places to 'hide' it after wanting to do something similar. Unless you've got a slimline amp then no way it will fit under the front seats and not enough room under the rear seats. As per other post, driver rear panel has electrics behind it and no room on the passenger side. AND any serious amp needs some kind of ventilation for safety. The only real place to put it is in the boot either under a false floor or their is a post on here somewhere about building an enclosure and fitting it between the wheelarch and back of the boot, under the old speaker trim. Big headache with a false floor is getting the fitment right for all the undulations to the boot bottom. But if you've got the patience and a jigsaw either could be done. :salute:

Used them in the past mate, only problem with Steve is that he is a perfectionist so you will end up with a 'to do' sheet three pages long and come away thinking your car is a pile of sh*te. Oh and the labour charges are on the high side and you do get charged for everything, part of my final invoice included a charge of 45p for the use of emery paper! But they do know there stuff.

Gear selection adjustment

Great job mate. Would sorting the backward/forward motion resolve my problem engaging fourth gear? The gear lever doesn't want to engage fully? Had the problem ever since the local garage adjusted it for 1st. :help: -
Had the same problem with a previous car and my mate had the same thing happen a few months ago and on both cars the roofs' popped back out, BUT both cars were left with crease marks in the metal work. A bodyshop may be able to do a better job. Hope it works out.

Try G-Werks Riley if you have no luck at the local Stealers. Rob sent the screw & rubber seal and arrived the next day, £5-6 inc postage. :clap: Mine decided to blow off before Crimbo and scare the crap out of me while driving it. :pale:
