  1. Just when I think i've got my wheel choice sorted, someone else throws in a good idea. Decisions decisions... :?
  2. nice try... I think they suit a corrado but they were too big for my car at it's current ride height. So i'll give you a clue, my new wheels are 16's..... :?
  3. Cheers for the good comments guys, mucho appreciated. I'll be getting some more pics up soon when the weather clears up for more than a few hours. Rob, rimmage in my shed as we speak just awaiting rubber. plus a few extras over christmas off my wish list! Paul, orginally I was determined to keep the car standard so put the new cat on it as i'd only just bought it..... but that plan didn't last long at all so its on with the modding! ADZ, nah they've gone. Keep changing my mind but now i've settled on something a little different for the vr6.... don't think it's been done before and I think it'll get a bit of mixed response from the other forum members watch this space.... :D
  4. First time i've looked on your thread and must say this has got to be one of the best cars I've seen on the forum. Great engine & mods, great stance, great wheels.... and a bargain price! With that in mind i've decided to find out where you live, come round and kidnap your car! Seriously, sweet car mate. I'd be interested to see the carb setup if I can make the trip over to one of the worcester meets sometime. Be nice to catch up with Dave as well.
  5. Oh yeah I forgot about that, should really update my thread a bit more often  . Have now replaced the brakes all round. Brembo max and mintex extreme upfront and standard VAG on the rears, only point to make would be that the mintex pads are really noisy at low speed.... can be annoying around town.
  6. On everyday roads the normal ride is absolutely perfect, nice and firm when needs be but with enough give not to be jarring. Only issue I have with the setup at the moment is that it was supposed to be a 40mm drop but now its settled (and after seeing an actual 40mm drop at the stealth RR day) its definitely more like 60mm+ which does mean that I manage to scrape the front splitter in pretty much everything as ground clearance in the centre of the splitter is down to a lowly 30mm! On the plus side the noise makes my dad wince everytime I even try to get it in/out of the parents drive which is always funny, and it looks so much better. 8)

    Bumpers

quick q, does anyone know whether the rear bumper from a 1991 16v C will be the same as the one off of a 1994 VR6? Same size/shape/fittings?? Cheers, Mic
  9. Bloody hell thats a good time, must admit having grown up near poddington I love the racing and I've done a few RWYB's but I'm not sure I could face racing my own car just as it's my only car and if it went bang I'd be up the proverbial without a paddle! Where abouts in Cambridge you based? I'd love to have a look at/chat about these full on racers. Mic
  10. I'll second that, I remember reading about that HPA twin turbo kit in PVW about a year ago. Good for 0-60 in sub 4 secs! awesome! Only down side is that the kit if about £10,000 :(
  11. May I take this oportunity to remind you chaps that there are only three sports: Hunting, shooting and fishing. All the others are merely games! tbh mate, if they pay you and you don't mind the work then go for it. As for spare cash, I'm unfortunately in the same position as the rest of you. I earn enough, but our mortgage is HUGE! and with the recent base rate increases our monthly payments seem to just be going up and up.. :(

    VR6 Spark Plugs

So I managed to get the spark plugs out over the weekend and was pleasently surprised at how good condition they were in. All 6 plugs looked like this... All nice and clean, minimal deposits and not oil/fuel fouling so I just put them all back. :D Only thing I don't know is... due to the style of the electrodes I couldn't check the gaps to make sure they were ok, and they were bosch supers r6's so not sure if they were the right ones for the motor. But since they looked ok I'm guessing that they're fine? I'm sure if not you lot will put me straight.
  13. bloody hell that is one long old list, talk about people happy to see a solution to the standard lighting! Andy, how would you feel about sourcing all the parts and writing up full instructions and then just selling it as a complete kit that people can build themselves? I think the hardest part for people is sourcing all the connectors etc so if you have the ability to build a kit i'm sure people would be happy to just put it all together. I know I would, and I'm happy to send money for you to buy the parts as others have suggested

    VR6 Spark Plugs

Damn I'm found out! The decat is in it for a power gain, but the spark plugs are to try to cue my dodgy running issues. Want to get all the little bits and bobs sorted before going for big power.

    VR6 Spark Plugs

Cheers Kev, once again there to help me out! I'll get down to my local motor factors this afternoon and get a set of those plugs. Don't know what kind of condition the olds ones are in but definitely haven't been changed in a few years and at that price it'd be silly not to.
  16. Quick questions. I'm hoping to give the old VR6 the once over tomorrow and now I've got a lead tool I can finally get at my spark plugs to check those to make sure all is well. So my questions, 1.) what should the spark plug gap be on a standard VR (or what gaps have people had good results with?) And, 2.) If mine are looking in a bad way what replacement plugs do people recommend? All help/advise appreciated as usual. :D
  17. If I move my car later I'll have a look to see what the speeds are I'm getting at the various RPM's. The main problem you're likely to find is that most speedos are not 100% accurate, mine is about 3-4% out out different speeds (checked with Sat-Nav) but to give you a starting point I happen to know (don't ask me how! ) that if you've got a standard VR gearbox and standard wheels you should be doing 70mph at 3100rpm.
  18. I knew I could rely on you Kev! :D Tell me more. As xbones says, had a look at the supersprint website and there is a few of varying sizes....
  19. I've currently got a TT 2.5" straight through cat back system on my VR and I'm just wondering if it is worth me fitting a de-cat pipe? Any thoughts?
  20. Are those figures Completely standard? If so thats amazing! I am a little worried that mine's going to either go bang or produce some really crappy figures as It's got a bit of a rattle going on now (probably chains) :( Goldie - good tip, I'll be sure to put my warmest coat in the boot
  21. I'm going to be doing my first rolling road day on Dec 2nd at stealth (Jim is organising) and i'm just wondering what kind of things I should be doing to ''prep'' the car for a good run. I'm got everything I need to do a full service before hand, but just wondering what else I can do to prepare, I'm hoping for at least standard power...... hopefully......
