  1. Brakes is my problem. The AP's definitely won't fit under the Speedlines/Solitudes. 16's is an option I guess but which ones will fit?
  2. To echo Sean, there are good one and not so good ones. That's the danger of a hand finished low run car. Buying guide! http://wiki.the-corrado.net/the_corrado_buying_guide_checklist.html My recommendation is to check that all the basics are up to code. Good running gear, suspension, non-smoking engine, chains ideally but look at the mechanics above bodywork. A lot of it is a mix of golf and passat parts but thing are becoming obsolete now. That said, bodywork can be tricky on them. No such thing as replica panels/fenders etc with these I'm afraid so it's repair or a trip to the scrapyard to find parts if you've got body damage. Reliability wise, mine have always been 100% reliable they can be a little sensitive with temp senders and MAF's but generally they'll do big miles without huge amounts of issue.
  3. It's a tough call tbh. I like both wheels for different reasons, and I've never had 'bling' wheels before which is nice as people who aren't necessarily into cars have gone 'nice wheels' whereas the rota's seem to draw more comments as an overall look of the car ie: 'that thing looks evil mate!' I could in theory keep both, I've got space. And on the braking front they're fine. Was worried at first but they're not catching and I've done some pretty hard braking with them on.
  4. That's awesome. Great idea and some great pics. Congratulations!
  5. Cheers Fay, only just seen you'd posted. They are a really nice wheel but I think I'm going to sell them as I just prefer the Rota's. I said I'd give it a few weeks to see, which I've given it a month, and I'm still not 100% which tells me to go back. I like the mean look!
  6. Work in progress is good, and getting it running an hour before the meet is very good indeed! :thumbleft: Is this going to be a yearly thing or are you guys planning more meets over the summer etc?
  7. Haha! Very generous of you. Sam - just realised I left without scanning your car. If you want me to pop over just let me know and we can sort a time.
  8. Glad you're back ok mate, and slimline is the way forward. The 24v does suit the corrado, just a slight update in the engine department but adds a certain something in the smoothness department. Those pics look worse than actually being there. Plus, as a few others said 'it wouldn't be a vw meet without something going pop on someone's car!'
  9. Just home from this. Great meet, really nice guys and hopefully chatted to most of the corrado owners. Putting names to faces etc is always good. A lot of high quality cars there, and a really nice mix of cars as well. On the corrado front the turn out was excellent. Loads of different directions taken by pretty much everyone. NorthG60's car was excellent, as was quicky's, Paul's (winchbietch?) and Phil's. Then a few works in progress such as cdem's (who I didn't get to speak to unfortunately) and Sean's, which having been rescued from certain death now has a quality conversion and IMO has sorted those keys basics that a lot of people forget like bushes and running gear and I'm sure the rest will come together no problem. Then we have Jamie's? Black VR running on its arse, skinny tyres, sounding fantastic and hopefully won the limbo? Not sure who's the carbon roofed 1.8t was but between that and the other Motorsport style cars I think I've been inspired to put my Rotas back on, love that look. All in all a very good afternoon and I'll like to thank the organisers and say I'm looking forward to the next one!
  10. Reset the sunroof motor so it closes correctly on the close button rather than randomly going too far past.
  11. Call that a days work?!? Impressed mate. Glad to hear it's all going smoothly, hope it continues.
  12. Only agreed mine at £5k.... Probably worth more to me but since all modified cars are worthless I didn't think I'd bother! Seriously though, very happy with HIC's service again. Price is maybe a little higher than some are paying but I've got my motorbike accident still on there declared for a few years yet.
  13. Well once again the boys at HIC have done me proud. Not the cheapest renewal quote but a quick call and they beat the cheapest external quote so £380 fully comp, all the legal/courtesy car etc, plus an agreed value, mods declared, city centre on the road. So all in pretty happy. Greenlight were close but couldn't do the agreed value.
  14. Levelled off my suspension... Sort of. The driver side rear still needs a tweak up 5mm or so.
  15. pea roast! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=86395&page=2
  16. That looks mean!!! Love it!
  17. Far more concerning than the prices of Corrado's http://www.dairyco.org.uk/market-information/dairy-sales-consumption/cheese-market/cheese-market/#.U4hj-MZwaUk http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/business/economy/sticker-shock-bacon-other-pork-prices-rising/nf6Sy/
  18. That time of year again for me..... better get phoning! I'll try Greenlight this time as well as the usual.
  19. Saw a Green Storm N-reg driving through Sainsburys carpark, Cambridge, last night about 6.45pm as I walked home from work. If it was someone on here I'm amazed you didn't see me waving about 3 feet from your window trying to stop and say hello!
  20. Looking good for the weekend so far, hoping it holds.
  21. Yeah all the photos aren't helping, I'm still annoyed I missed this Even more so as I never thought I'd see Jim in a baseball cap!
  22. Amazed this hasn't sold, maybe people are looking for an original engine these days rather than something with a conversion. Hope you get a buyer mate.
  23. Might take you up on that. Having serious thoughts of taking the front end off and tidying up a few bits and bobs so might do it then. What's next on your job list?
