'Runs off to find credit card....... '
-
Essentially it's all a compromise once you move away from standard. Back in the 90's VW spent a fair amount to develop the Corrado and each component was designed with other components in mind. Same today, millions spent making sure all the various parts well together on a new golf and like Kev points out it's not just a case of changing shocks and springs when they lower a new 'R' model by 25mm. I recently went in a mk6 lowered 50mm on coilovers and it was terrible. A stiff chassis and rock hard suspension creates the same problems as we get on ours, but in a different way. I'm happy with my coilovers. They are hard, there's no doubting that, but for me it's acceptable within the remit of my idea of how a Corrado should look/handle and generally the ride on mine I feel is very good considering the 17's with thin tyres..... but then I only use mine once a week, maybe.

Looking good, and it's got a CCGB sticker in it so probably an extra 10-15bhp right there!
-
Welcome along, looks like an interesting Corrado history!
-
Manifold looks good, just hope that Turbo is up to the job as well. Let us know how you get on mate.
-
I'm going to get down my local store later! Anyone tried a £14.99 polisher?

Gutted, can't do tonight. Is this a monthly meet or just as and when you fancy getting together? -
Looking really good mate. Did you refurb the calipers yourself?
-
Would depend on the particular specs of both turbo's but I think the GT30 might be a bit big for a 9a. You're probably better looking at something smaller like a GT28 otherwise you'll just get loads of lag. But if it'll work then I'd expect big gains over a T25. Hopefully someone with greater turbo knowledge than me will be along soon. Edit - Kev beat me to it whilst I was typing!

Well having just arrived back from my morning meeting I've got some positive news. In the end I didn't have time to sort a new battery this morning so I jumped the 'rado from the wife's car and took my leads with me fully expecting to need a further jump after the meeting. It's about a 30 mile drive into the office and low and behold it started on the button after my meeting so some charge is definitely getting in there and being retained to a degree. I've already ordered a Bosch Silver from ECP (£70) so I think I'll still change it. And I'm using a Gunson multi-stage charger
-
Yeah, been looking and I think ecp is the answer as I didn't even get close to making it to halfords this evening. Bosch S5 silver for £72 looks like the best I can get at 8am tomorrow that's for sure!
-
Awesome. I'm going to print these out to keep in the car just in case.

Copycat! If you want to see what the koni's are like I'm sure I could pop over. -
The halfords one I can get 10% off, plus it's what's on there now and it's lasted 7 ish years. But I can get 25% off at ecp.... Arghhh!

Afternoon all. Bit of a dilemma here, just went to get the car out of the garage and battery is completely dead. Put the tester on it but and won't take any kind of charge... guess that's the price of not using it often.... But anyway, I need to use it in the morning which means finding a battery on short notice. I've got 2 maybe 3 shops near me, Halfords, Euro car parts, and some independent thing which will no doubt be closed now. So this one - http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_2.9_1994/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770758&1&caa4c2294299ef3cde0bf7a9a9dd88546bfa0f4c&000020 Or this one - http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_264105_langId_-1_categoryId_165762 Or are batteries pretty good these days so just go for something that'll do the job? I appreciate there is a search function but most mention mailorder or dealer and I've not got the time. With these options ECP is open at 8am and Halfords is open until 8pm. Cheers all!

I couldn't cope with those wheels for a number of reasons: 1) Justifying the price 2) The chance of potentially damaging whilst in use (crappy pot-holed roads etc) 3) Someone trying to steal them or the car 4) I couldn't be bothered to keep cleaning them....... This is the most important one

Good work mate, getting closer and closer now. Loving the inverted LCD's. And with the suspension, Chris is right, it's the uneven weight over the drivers side. On the weitecs you should be able to move the spring seats up/down a notch to even them up.... I'll see if I can dig out the instructions for my old set. -
Cheers mate, you're a gent.
-
Your problem mate is you're afraid to say what you think! But in all seriousness, I hear what you're saying and I'm thinking some silver Rota's might not be a million miles away from the look you got with those white ones..... and that was a great look. With the carriers, do you think they'd be able to make me some to push the calipers out to 330mm or would I need to get the drawings from somewhere/send them my current 304mm ones?
-
That isn't a bad idea. Now the Rota's are off I was thinking about correcting a few of the kerb marks but maybe a full refresh would be an idea. The only thing with silver is I'm not sure how well it works on really thin spoked wheels..... anyone any good with photoshop?!? My kit is this one -http://www.motorsport-tools.com/ap-racing-vw-golf-mk3-vr6corrado-1992on-big-brake-kit-4-pot-1.html but I actually got mine from someone on Edition, one of the rare times when I've actually managed to reply to a thread before anyone else! They used to sell them direct from AP but don't seem to list them anymore on their website. They are not cheap new but you do sometimes see the calipers pop up on eBay. And if you get some you need to modify the bottom ball joint slightly so they don't rub on full lock. They are awesome fun. With the 90mm splitter and the old shocks/springs combo I could catch the splitter under really heavy braking. Sean, Hasan - If I get a chance I'll weigh one of each wheel to see what the difference is.
-
Glad you got the payment at least. Any update on this, or can my donator status be adjusted manually etc so I can start using the pm's again?
-
Definitely a possibility! Those Advan RS are very similar, and the rota's are a very 'jap' style wheel. Although they were middle of the road price wise they are really well made and very light. Can't remember if I weighed one with tyre but the wheels themselves are only 9kg each.
-
Hear what you're saying James, it's a tough choice and I do like the Motorsport look which is why in the past I've had team dynamics, the rota's and now the CHs... All with a Motorsport theme. I'm still not entirely sure what I'll do in the long run. Waiting to hear from AP about the possibility of going up to 330mm discs, which you'll be able to see behind pretty much anything!

I'm still planning to be there with my mate in his buggy hopefully.
