Love a nice gauge to worry about! I'm currently running 205/40 on my 8J's with a nice stretch but I think on an 8.5J it'll be too much for my liking. Funnily enough I've also been talking to Sean about this as he's got both 205/40 and 225/35 on his (fronts vs rears), and I'd be tempted to go 225 but I think they'll catch on the front. Decisions indeed. Not a huge amount of choice in those sizes, I'd be going Conti's if I could find some near me or for a good price on the web. Those pilot sport 3's look really good as well.

Looking good! Are you going to roll/pull the rear arches at all? Nice bug in the background to.
-
Yeah maybe, but I would then need to remove my vdo's and I like having a couple of extra gauges to panic about readings! I'll look into the 6x4's and some 5.25's as the standards are pretty terrible. How wide? I've been wondering what to put on mine and I can't decide on whether to go 215/40 or 225/35. The 35 is a very thin sidewall and although it's a closer rolling radius to the original tyres I think a bit more sidewall will aid comfort... and the 215 will offer a bit of arch clearance. Do you rate the Falken's? I'm looking at the 912's in the 215/40 or the 452's in the 225/35

Looking great Nick, really impressed with the headunit..... almost a bit jealous I've just gone for a new single din unit. Be interested to hear how you get on with the new 6x4's and whether they're a direct swop etc as I need to sort mine at some point. Also, what tyres are you running on your CH's?

Made emergency repairs to an exhaust clamp that decided to snap last night. All done now and test drive on some twisties to cheer myself up.

Wow that is some fantastic work, and attention to detail is amazing.

Whats the worst thing youve done to ur corrado
mic_VR replied to CorradoDriver's topic in General Car Chat
Ouch.... Although I think this was a while ago wasn't it Owen? -
Hmm, I guess everyone is different. I've never had an issue with them in the wet but I also wouldn't really push the car in the wet anyway so maybe I've just never noticed. I've been thinking of trying Yokohama Parada Spec 2's next if anyone has any experience with them?

Another shout for the Toyo's. But they are a compromise as they are very soft compound with a stiff sidewall so they grip well in the dry but they wear quickly (6000 mile on fronts) and towards the end of their life the performance can drop off a bit. I'm on my 3rd set but I only do 3-4000 miles a year so it doesn't bother me.

Well I guess you'd get caught at the MOT as it'd be un-catalysed exhaust. There's some great vids on youtube of people in the states running them and the noise is fantastic IMO -

Looking good. The only thing I'd mention is that Screamer pipes are illegal in the UK, which is a shame as they sound awesome! -
I'm with Hasan on this, take it off is easier to clean under and reduces the risk of you slipping and scratching something. It's still only a 5 min job

Ok not quite your exact situation but a lot of information here regarding the law on the responsibilities of the bailiffs, the council or anyone enacting the bailiffs, and the obligations of the police. http://www.dealingwithbailiffs.co.uk/vehicles-cars-tools-of-trade.html A quick read would indicate that under these rules you'd have a pretty strong case for compensation as neither the council or bailiffs themselves have done any due-diligence to ensure the goods were the property of the old lady. In particular I'd read the 'Section 12(2) of the Theft Act 1968' regarding the offence of taking a vehicle without authority. Sounds like a great place to start your letters (always put everything in writing) of complaint.

Glad you got it back and I agree with Ray. Name and shame the solicitors/council/baliffs, not only for you but for the old dear who's probably spent her entire life paying her bills/taxes etc just for them to screw her over now!

I generally hate insurance companies but I do like dealing with Martin at HIC. Well done, good price.

I'm coming still Eric. Anyone fancying a convoy from anglia area just let me know.

Year end at work meant I could only stand outside and chat for a few mins, then I forgot to take pics so I only managed to get a couple. And just when you thought the 'rado was reasonably rare, the white car next to mine is a Middlebridge Scimitar and it's no.30 of only 78 ever made. Was nice talking old cars though and made me hanker after a proper old car to tinker with like the Morris, such simple engineering..... maybe I'll get another Beetle....

I've been absolutely swamped at work this week so no time to clean the car.... well not until I started at 7.30 this morning much to the amusement of the wife and neighbours...
-
I checked with our resident expert in the office and he classed it as a modern classic.... so I did the 1.1 mile drive with pride this morning!

Anyone taking part today? We're having a classic car day at work so I've taken the old boy along. Should get some pics later.
