  1. As others have already said, Fantastic car and you're the perfect owner to keep it in that condition. Well done mate.
  2. Ah crap. Gutted mate, hope you get it sorted. What was the issue with it?
  3. You're booked in sir, we'll sort a meet up :thumbleft:
  4. Make sure none of that sponge has been sucked into the inlet tract Edit - I see that's already been suggested
  5. Yep sounds like a vac leak. Is the damper box ok? They tend to crack underneath and around the inlet/outlets
  6. When you feather the throttle to keep it running is it running ok or running rough?
  7. Cheers guys, they are awesome. Having spent the day driving on them again I think I've made the right decision. They don't rub, they turn quicker due to being lighter and thinner than the CH's, and they look mean as!
  8. Well back on the Rotas.... For now at least. Now I need to decide whether to stick with these or look at other options.
  9. Having had a mk6 gti as my company car a few years ago I can safely say it'd walk a standard vr6 in most situations.... But as Jim said it the spread of torque from the turbo that makes it so quick. The VR is more lazy speed.
  10. Oh I know mate but that VR has been his pride and joy for so long
  11. Amazed just talking about Kip maybe selling his car.... Seems impossible to even contemplate.
  12. The little nubbin just goes into a clip to keep the wire tidy.
  13. My track car shell is all red so maybe it's a red thing.
  14. Finally managed to fit the brand new fuel pump that I've had sitting in the shed for about 3 months, What a difference in noise! This is virtually silent unless we've got your head in the boot or under the fuel tank. Mine was definitely on its last legs but it didn't do bad for almost 20 years. The retaining ring was an absolute PITA! And after some swearing and shouting at it a few weeks ago I decided to order a removal tool to do the job. Unfortunately that wasn't very well made (£12on eBay so not sure what I was expecting) but with a bit of modification I finally managed to get the ring off without damaging it, the car, or my sanity further. After that, perfectly straight forward job. New (L) vs Old ® Unfortunately I did all this after spending the majority of the day working on my mates Bora, and generally getting beaten up by it in the process.... so I was pretty tired when I put my hand in the tank to remove the old pump and forgot the I was covered in cuts from earlier in the day and OMG petrol hurts on broken skin! I think it would've been less painful to have rubbed vinegar and salt into the wounds  Anyway, happy with the end result. The gauge is slightly out but I will just bend the arm a little to get it reading correctly. Next job - Sean is going to help me with my adaption values, and then I'll decide what I'm going to do with these wheels.
  15. They do look good, very impressed. A process for doing this would be good if you get a chance.
  16. Not sure that's a fair statement. The club is run by all it's members, it's not the job of the committee to organise every single event. Eric does a grand job on behalf of the committee to organising the stands etc at various shows all over the uk and in the past has organised big trips to far off lands, all alongside other forum and CCGB members. Good on Charlie for organising this, I'm sure it'll be amazing and I only wish I was free to go.
  17. What a great idea! Unfortunately I'm at a wedding that weekend and won't be able to make it :(
  18. Adaption values..... Show off! Day went well then by the sounds of it. Glad it's up and running perfectly again.
  19. Was talking to the missus about going to this next year and she seemed happy as long as she could fly and meet us there, which I fine as I'll bring a mate as co pilot. So assuming I can get a pass I'd definitely be up for it.
  20. They 15s Dox? Looks good behind there.
  21. I'm feeling the FI love, and I don't even have FI!
  22. You after another set of CH's then mate? ;)
  23. Great, now I'm looking at more wheels! If I can find some I like then I'd definitely be tempted to go for a 15/16" wheel.... Google images is likely to be my friend for a few hours later.
