  1. looks like he has some interesting hobbies whoever he is or isnt. Wikisym 2006 - The Conference Wiki of the 2006 International Symposium on Wikis
  2. it depends how it works, usually they have a wire/switch you connect to the handbrake so that the handbrake has to be on in order for the headunit to work. I'd suggest connecting that wire to something with a constant current, like the back of the ciggy lighter. Dont take my word for it though since i've no idea if that'd be the right voltage. what do the instructions tell you to do with the wires?
  3. I remember seeing a g60 very much like that in newcastle a year or so ago, didnt get chance to chat with the driver but it looked very tidy. Theres not many of them up here, and even fewer that arent 'known' to the forum, so I'd hazzard a guess its the same car. If I had more time on my hands I'd offer to go have a look for you since I'm closer!
  4. arent there 2 type of p-slot? one quite common and not worth that much, the others highly rare and desirable?
  5. makes sense really i suppose, if you're fighting to keep it on the track on the corners you're not going to be as quick as someone who can keep the power down. I think the big engined versions will probably make up for that on the strights though making them quicker overall - warp 6 captain!
  6. both chrisvr6 nos and I have removed vents and had the clips that hold them in place break - they seem very brittle, maybe its their age? anyway, as Dave says, just pull....carefully!
  7. some quite cool looking stuff here. lupo on page 2, whos going to be the first to put d90's on it? :D
  8. that porkers a bit nice! real fatlad! 8)
  9. 3.8 seconds according to the info I just looked up. A 2.0L cosworth developed engine producing 210bhp in a half ton car... rubber underwear time! Very envious Reekie, I've always wanted a drive in a super-7 style car. The bike engined derivatives must be utterly nuts!
  10. owned for a month and got 'a bit bored'? he's either picked it up cheap due to the history and is trying to sell it on for more and make a bit of money or hes found the history and just wants shot of it. Depends how confident you are in your abilities to spot a duffer, if its had £3000 worth of repairs done you know its at least gone through an insurance company and has probably been repaired to a good standard. Stolen/recovered hmm, well thats not that big a deal until you come to sell it on yourself. I dont think it'd put me off. Its definatly not worth what hes asking for it if hes not disclosed the murky history though! Might be worth paying for an AA inspection or something? just to make sure theres nothing nasty lurking under its shiny paintwork?
  11. i've got tons in the 'my photos' folder which rotate as my screen saver, not just VW's either...
  12. choo-choo thomas! :D nice looking vr, dont see many in white
  13. Theres a difference between disabled bays and parent/child bays in so far as the law is concerned, parking in a disabled bay without displaying a badge is an offence, parking in a parent/child bay without a child (or indeed a parent) isnt. (IMO) Morally, doing either is wrong. I know from experiance what its like getting a child in and out of a car in a normal width parking space, its not easy and designated spaces make life way easier BUT we all chose to have kids (well mostly) and its not like we're physically prohibited from walking a distance to a shop just because we have kids. I think its more down to common decency that you dont park in parent/child spaces unless you have need. Disabled people need that extra space to get in/out of their cars. Not only do they have to contend with struggling in/out of their car and then navigate a store which invariably isnt very accessible for a person with a disability, but some knobbers parked in a space put there especially to make their life easier... just so they dont get a dent. Sorry, maybe I'm unusual in thinking certain things are more important than paintwork.
  14. really not sure what to make of that, i'm not blown away by it, but then as has been said new VW's arent really aimed at fans of the classic models. I dont think theres a new car that pushes the right buttons for me, save for outlandish supercars which are totally out of reach, and maybe thats the issue. people who have around 22k to spend on a new coupe arent looking for something that harks back to the days of the original scirocco, they want something that keeps up with the styling of the new civic, astra, focus et al and this does that pretty well. I'm not sure I'd buy one, but I'm not in the target demographic as most of us arent... otherwise we'd be on a mk5 golf forum. also - does the rear quarter remind anyone else of the old fiat bravo/brava (whichever was the hatchback) in this pic?
  15. really like that, arent they ZW1's? the ones on A20LEE must be a simular width
  16. good wing mirrors. TVR's are the ultimate in british car hooliganisum, i'd have one in a second if i could afford.
  17. yeah, standard ride height on 17's! whats he thinking?!
  18. the shelf supports look messy (and i dont mean becuase those ones are bit scruffy!) theres no need for them to be there without a rear shelf. I dunno, seems a bit pointless unless you're using your C to lug alot of gear around in. Personally I'd say get rid of the whole rear seat setup, carpet the area, fit a rollcage and a rear strut brace. That way it looks properly stripped out but gives you the carpeted look which I think personally just looks tidier.
  19. sounds like it might need the throttle cable adjusting, or replacing at worst (no biggie) as for the clutch the one on my VR was very light, hard to find the bite but it worked fine! its probably an indication of something wearing out... someone else will tellyou better than i can ;) sounds like a corker otherwise, 74k is practically delivery miles!
  20. I think you're being a bit over critical TBH, they're nothing compared to a corrado sure, but they're hardly 'terrible' cars. Mine drove a hell of alot better than my other half's 2 year old pug 206, gear shift was better, build quaility was better and so on. They really need polybushes and decent suspension to feel properly sporty, and they will NEVER compare to a corrado even super modified, but they're not terrible! mattosmond, mine was a N plate 5 door with heated leather and 83k on the clock, had it up for £1500 and didnt get many takers in the 3 months it was for sale for. the market for them is flat as a fart at the moment. I wouldnt be paying more than 2k for it, even if its mint.
  21. pretty cool actually, no daft chav stuff which is good, looks alot more american pimp-waggon style to me.
  22. they should go on with no worries, standard et on a vr is 32 so as long as theres enough clearance for the brake calipers (which there should be) you'll be fine. 40mm is a reasonable drop without it being too low to catch speedbumps, 60mm looks much better IMO though, especially over 17's
  23. :? if someone jumped out of a bush waving a replica AK47 at me while I was driving I may well try and mow them down! (knew what you meant, just got a funny mental image ;))
  24. were the wheels anything like these ones? I had an Ashtray for a while, quite proud of it I was too - my first 'own' car. I ended up wrecking it in less that spectacular fashion with the use of a kerb, a 5ft steel barrier, wet road, tight bend and heavy right foot. Anyway what was my point? oh yes! the kerb munched my wheels in half aswell, those alloys were a bit soft really.
