  1. how many are you making, i need one quite bad now . but there is quite a few on the reserve list.
  2. 198k, need doing, removed cam cover top pad very badly worn, still runs , no noise, next on my wish list, no history they have been touched or done, a credit to the service history/ oil changes every 10k, up 198k
  3. talking of brake lines, im remaking all vr6 brake lines to exact spec, using genuine green pipe, and they are coming out real well, i will be making and selling these if ppl are interested, but as these are time consuming to make and the brake pipe is exspensive to do a full car, they are more exspensive than copper lines, but with new steel line, they will last the length of time.heres some pics
  4. i totally agree with the dude ,there is some ppl, taking advantage of others on here, with regards to parts. ive spent tons of money on parts these past few years, and i too ,have seen alot of parts been discontinued. on another forum i go on, the members need three other members to say that they are trustworty or a legitamate member before he or she can sell, and can only be authorised by the mods. i also think there should be an online shop dedicated to the most common parts needed, therefore more parts we buy the longer vw will make certain parts if there is demand, im seeing alot of ppl, especially new members not knowing where to source new parts, im stocking up on parts i think need for the fututer, but things are tight at the mo.better askk santa for some new bits!
  5. nice work paul , getting stuck in, will save the bodyshop stripping it out, plus youll prob be more carfull than they are. i think my nugget will have to wait until after crimbo until the engine goes in, i have zero dollars , as im moving into a new place. will update my thread soon!! 8)
  6. i think the finsish is hard to replicate exactly as they are a brushed metal effect, and its a special process in which to make them like that.the rear ones are jsut chrome i think and the front ones have a brusheed effect.
  7. this is something ive been toying with too, i would love a supercharged vr , the cost isnt cheap though, im not totally clued up on forced induction, but it seems theres a lot of good knowledgeble members that should help
  8. these are great, and a good calender is something i always need for a new year, i just have crappy ones. i dont mind paying a little more for the time and effort to get them made and printed. these would look fantastic on my wall.im sure someone will take this on , and get them finished.
  9. is anyone willing to pick this up, and carry it on, if i had the time i would, i think a tenner is reasonable posted if that could be done.
  10. bit off topic where did you buy the piston rings from,as i thought vw only made over size rings, which meant you needed a rebore and over size pistons? also check you ht leads for arcing at night, and check resistance of each lead to rule them out.
  11. nice work, be good to see this when its finished, p.s did you get the chains and tensioner from vw, and was the top tensioner guide the later modifyed one is it the mk 4 golf top tensioner guide?
  12. good work chris, getting good with that sewing machine. i think there may be serious interest if you can re trim late vr steering wheels, as almost all of them are worn out on top, if you can match the grade and type of leather originally used from factory at a reasonable price , them im sure many ppl and myself would be interested. p.s do you still have the 16v fuel pump and accumulator, injectors or any of the fuel system left, cheers alex
  13. drivers side door mirror heated glass is obsolete from vw , passenger side i think is still available.
  14. do you mean coolant is bubbling in the coolant header tank? idle speed is increased from normal? if you havent touched any of the mixture screws ect, then it would seem that you either have an airleak after the trottle body poss inlet gasket, or throttle cable is sticking, lubricate the throttle linkage and check that is moving freely back and forth , there is a small microswitch that the throttle linkage assembly will touch, at idle, is this working correctly?
  15. check all your vacume pipes for splits/perishing.
  16. new oil filter fitted, just need to get new oil cooler, and starter motor.
  17. new water pump , and thermostate fitted, new rear main oil seal and casing fitted.new cambelt ,tensioner, stud and nut fitted. new cam cover gasket fittedCIMG0505.JPG[/attachment:210432ro]
  18. painted in matt black to keep the factory look, i find gloss looks a bit tacky , im trying to give the impression it looks standard/original, this maybe hard to accomplish.
  19. cleaned all loose rust , and dirt . some time later looks like this.
  20. spent all last night tinkering. all parts ordered came in yesterday, flanges,gaskets,o-rings,cambelt,tensioner,oil filter ect. also picked up a new water pump. engine fully degreased, and using a wire wheel attachment on a drill cleaned all the loose corrsion and rust off the cylinder block. and wiped cleaned ready for paint.
  21. corrado doors, fitting , adjusting!! i just thought i make a point of this as i have had trouble in the past swaping rotten or damaged doors with good second hand ones, the door was no way near lining up back of the door to body, i want to replace the doors on my storm with new ones, but i dont want the hassle of cutting hindges and re-welding them, or using a porta pack to bend the hindges on the door ,as that them seems a bad idea, what experiences has any of you got when fitting these doors, and if any of them did fit ok without adjustment. all doors and bodies must be very slightly out of size? and what adjustments does it state in the bentley manual? some of your thoughts will help as im half way between buying new doors or not !
