For sale Corrado RECARO, out of 95 VR6 - black cloth
VR6 Gar replied to tomi's topic in Parts for Sale
No doubt about that being the same pic, look at the 3 specs of dirt on the carpet in the bottom left. -
Trail fit of the new wheels with 15mm spacers. Even though the tyres are the same width they look mega skinny thanks to only being 6.5j as opposed to 8j and 7.5j of the Compo's.
-
I think you have that on inside out, the seams are meant to be on the outside, and where the straps are sewed on the inside.
-
Used ones go for minimum of £35 on ebay, more for ones in good condition, so I wouldn't be surprised if people bought them at £50.

Just spotted a company on ebay selling Federal road legal track day tyres very cheaply, around £20 or more less than Camskill depending on size. E.g. 215 40 17 £73.10 delivered. Real shame I don't need tyres as these are a bargain. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=federal+595+rs-r&_sop=15

:thumbleft: Had a closer look and found it to be a JR filter. Not a well known brand but seem decent enough from their website. Like you said though it has seen better days and is pretty dirty. Looking forward to what it will drive like on the 16's with winter 205 45s when I find some that are suitable, should make it a bit more forgiving on the rutted roads. Shame I love the TH2's so much otherwise I would be happy to stay on 16's for the better ride, they just look so much better on 17's though. Not actually had it out yet but can't see it sounding much different to before. Only peeled to car cover back far enough to get the bonnet and drivers door open, lol. Don't think the cover has been off the car in over a week, bloody weather. Plan on knocking up some shielding around the new filter so it only gets cold air when the weather picks up a bit, so not for a few months probably

Having replaced the MAF a few weeks ago I decided it was also time to do the air filter. Got no idea what make it is, how old or even if it is dry or oiled so ordered up a new AEM Dryflow from the states. A few weeks passed and then it arrived yesterday and I have just fitted it now in between the downpours. These filters seem to get nothing but praise on the forums and wasn't even that expensive once all import costs were added on. It has a larger surface area than the old one, plus the colour matches better.:camp:

Corrado Car Cover needed - can anybody recommend a car cover
VR6 Gar replied to robdriver's topic in Suppliers Forum
I had a small Halfords one that was a snug fit from when I had a mk1. That was old and totally fecked and just been replaced by a stormforce one. Seems much better quality and should last longer, but then it costs more. -
Some better pics, all wheels in the same condition. Would be nice to replace all the bolts but it seems pointless being they are winters and will almost double what they cost me.
-
Picked up some 16" BBS RX2 for winter use. Other than rusts bolts they are pretty much like new, no kerbing what so ever and also came with 4 good tyres, all for £100 :smug:. Just need some 13mm spacers to clear the front calipers and some winter tyres. Surprised at how light they are compared to the Compo's.

Went over a man hole earlier that was lower than the rest of the road causing a fair old bang. The car promptly cut out. Tried dipping the clutch and bringing it back up but the car wouldn't start so stopped. Revs were reading 0 when in gear. Had a quick look under the bonnet and everything looked ok so tried the key and it fired straight away and has continued to work fine. Any ideas what may have cause this?

Got a Stormforce car cover to replace the old and not so waterproof anymore Halfords one.
-
Diff was already dead, used to spin up an inside wheel very easily in 1st and 2nd.
-
Turns out the poor idle was the MAF, but changed the leads anyway as they were obviously on their way out. Got the gearbox stripped down. One of the big T55 bolts just decided to start rounding instead of undoing, so out came the angle grinder. Diff is now sat on the work bench waiting to be sent back to the states at some point.
-
Anyone know if these are available from VW, could do with replacing mine?
-
Somewhere in the region of 380 currently. A bit more or less depending on what the boost is set at.
-
Christ that is a lot of money. Looks like I may have found my poor idle problem. Getting shocked off a couple of leads. Very annoying as they are Magnecor reds. Just ordered a new set at £125 delivered :(
-
Well here is the damage, finally got round to starting the strip down. Annoyingly that is as far as I have got. The Torx bolts in this box are T55, unlike the spare one I have sat out the back which is T60, so I don't have the correct 'bit' to carry on today.

Careful with the Infinitys, that is what were in mine when I bought it and they were too big, the rubber around the speaker was overlapping the edge of the pods. Also Focal speakers are miles better than Infinity. Same goes for Hertz and JL audio. Have a google to see for yourself. Infinty has no 'edge' so catches on the pod mounting point. Sorry for the crap picture, can't find a bigger one Focal has just enough flat so the rubber isn't squashed by the pod.

Mine runs at 90-92 at those speeds and 100-105 when thrashing it and I also have an oil cooler, so yes that is very high.
-
In the end i went for an uprated loom with Osram nightbreakers. H4 plus +90% and H3 unlimited +110%, both standard Wattage. Easily as good as any modern car I have been in.
-
Fitted my Focals now (Focal 130 A1) and they sound brilliant and just fit in the standard holes without modification. Lots of mid range but as you would expect from a 13cm speaker not much bass, this is taken care of by my pioneer 6x9s in the parcel shelf. Now it is amped it is very easy to get too much bass so no need for a sub and I have faded the system a long way forward. You should take a look at Silent coat sound deadening. Just as good as Dynamat but a bit cheaper. Comes in 2mm and 4mm and can be bought in bulk packs for £90 ish. Piece of pi** to install.

Few little changes. Fitted an uprated headlight loom and some Osram Nightbreakers (H4 Plus +90%, H3 Unlimited +110%) The difference is amazing and such an easy thing to do. The full beam fuse on the new loom(15A) lasted about 20 seconds before blowing so replaced it with a 30amp one and all seems fine. Fitted an Alpine amp and some Focal Components. Sounds really good now. Ordered some Bardahl racing turbo protect yesterday which goes in the oil. Made my old S4 idle quieter and it is good for fuel consumption.
-
Received today. Very easy to fit and good quality. However the main beam fuse got hot and blew after about 20 seconds. You could see where the plastic had bubbled on the fuse. Is there any reason I couldn't just stick a larger fuse in there, say 30 amp instead of the 15, as that is exactly what I have done and all seems fine so far. Running standard strength Osram Nightbreakers in H4 and H3.
