  1. have just read the messages in this thread... it still doesnt sound right to me  Mine is a 2.9 VR6 with about 91k on the clock. Under the bonnet, the only mods i have done are: K & N Filter & Magnex Exhaust (full system) It produced 174 or something in the first run. That was WITH a faulty cam shaft position sensor. The guys had one in stock, and changed it for me there and then. On the 2nd run, it produced 194bhp. I dont think that the Magnex and K & N make that much difference in the horse power. They simply make the power delivery smoother, and therefore they cant be the main reason for there being so much difference. The only reason we knew that anything was wrong, is cause they plugged the car into the VAG COM. So my advice to you is to get the car plugged into one these, and that too with someone that knows what they are doing. Good luck.
  2. Mate, that is one of the nicest Corrados i have seen aswel. Nice touches, and them wheels are just to die for. definitley the sort of wheels i would have fitted on my VR if money were no object (and i wasnt getting married, and buying a house!)

    BBR chip for VR6

are Stealth any good for this sort of thing? i was there for the midlands rolling road, and i was well impressed with the way they work, and they already sorted out my cam belt position sensor which instantly gave me back some 20bhp, as the car wasnt running right with that sensor being faulty. can a chip / remap really get anymore out of the VR? It is currently giving 193bhp and 183 lb/ft of torque. has anyone got any experience of their own of this sort of thing?

    BBR chip for VR6

what does a engine remap and superchip do for the car?
  5. :) i like the way you put that :)
  6. It was really nice to meet some people from here, and find that everyone was a good laugh, and easy to get on with. We should do this again in a few months time. I had a really great morning, and was (and still am) over the moon that i gained 20bhp, thanks to the diagnostics showing the cam position sensor as knackered. Probably the best 45 quid ever spent, and great value for money when you consider what it could potentially have cost had I gone to VW or another specialist etc. I thought the guys at Stealth were great too. I have never used them before, but probably would after yesterday. The car feels totally different under acceleration. I just have to try and stop flooring it the whole time now (mpg doesnt look too great when you do that) I will post my figures up on the other thread later on too. Cheers Jim and the others who helped to organise everything.
  7. His name's not Tom Hartley by any chance is it?
  8. Just when you think that your C is the dogs danglers, and amazingly quick etc etc, you drive something else and it blows you away... in my case, it was a 1991 928 S4 - 5.0 V8 with some 320 plus bhp. its staggering how much power these cars have, and it doesnt stop coming! you just run out of road and have to take your foot off the loud pedal. Despite all this, my C is still one my all time favourite cars to drive just as a great drivers car.
  9. You've got to admire the (lack of) english!
  10. Anyone know who has got L282 GJD? Metallic Blue 16 valver.
  11. Henny, Nice one! after all the crap of trying Halfords and other alloy wheel retailers, the number you gave to me sorted the problem in one phonecall. £15 for the set of 4, including packing and delivery. And i got them the next working day too. not bad really. Cheers mate.
  12. and the fact that your brake calipers are lovely and shiny and red  , whilst mine are all shitty and rusted  ! I need to whip them off and give them the treatment. I bought this brake caliper paint from Halfords which can stand the heat. I dont want it to look shabbo when its done, like you see some cars which look tacky. The bolts are all rusty and brown too! I think they need replacing or some caps to cover them. PS, thanx for that number... the centre caps are on the way. Cant wait!
  13. Ok they are done. I am well pleased with the result. Found a place called Belmont Metal Finishers, near Melton Mowbray. They do them all the time, and took about a week to do mine. The colour is the right bright shiny silver, and looks good. They charge just £30 +VAT per wheel. a steal compared to the quotes of £55 + VAT i got off all the other places. All i need now is a set of centre caps. Anyone know where i can a set?
  14. I bought a can of this white spray grease. Its great stuff. Comes flying out, and goes every-bloody-where. I havent yet tried it on the VR, but will try in the next few days (Been using the Karmann Ghia while the sun has been shining) Halfords sell it.
  15. Hi Dave, (Gonna come over soon for that heatshield, promise!) As for the dents you have... well, as you know mine has one horrible one along the crease of the drivers door. Well thanks to some tw@t parking right up close to my C, i have another one on the same side, rear quarter panel! I think its time to get something done now, cos one was passable, but 2 are bad, and embarrassing like you day. Let us know what leads you get and if you get yours done b4 me, what kind of job you get. I will do the same. Am gonna see a bloke next week about it. (Dont like the idea of the half inch hole tho)
  16. they looked awesome, especailly when turning. The car was more or less side by side with me this morning all the way to work and for ONCE i had my digital camera with me, AND the battery wasnt flat!
  17. Does anyone on here know what these wheels are, and if they would fit a Corrado vr6? They were on this quite nice looking Audi, with an "S" badge on it.
  18. Help needed please I got a set of 16" Borbets which need to be made to look nice. they are in a quite bad way. (Mainly curbing, and poor painted surface) Everyone i have spoken to gives me different advice. Some say Beadblasting is better than sand, others say blasting is too harsh, and they need to be dipped in a chemical stipper etc... i need lots of advice on this cos i can only afford to do it once, and i really dont want to get it wrong. also need to know if anyone has had this sort of thing done, what "process" of refurbishment you had done, and how you feel about the results. And if you can recomend places that are good (or warn of places that are crap) thanks lads.
  19. Have you found a big difference in the braking since doing this mod? I've always felt that the brakes on my C are one its weaker points.
  20. just wanted to add to the general consencus (if thats how you spell it) I dont think your C should be tail happy either. Defo get it checked out. Im as puzzled as you are as to why it is doing that. Good luck mate.
  21. thats a good point about the sunroof, cos when i put the alarm on and the sunroof closes, it makes a nasty juddery type sound and it doesnt do much for the 'pose' value - just kidding - but seriously, it doesnt look right when it closes like that. White grease the best thing for it?
  22. Talcum Powder? How do you get talcum powder to stop it squeaking? I'm impressed! And how do you get it down the little gap without getting it everywhere?
  23. Does anyones boot spoiler squeak? Mine does, especially after i have washed the car, and to cure it i squirt a bit of WD40 on the pole things that come up and go back down, and it cures it in the short term, but as you know, a tiny squirt of this stuff goes all over the place... like all over the glass and paintwork etc. Any idea what a long term solution to this could be?
  24. I know the feeling all too well! i had mine parked outside my parents, and someone parked next to it, opened their door wrecklessly and it now has 2 dents along the side, and they are right along the crease!
  25. yep, this is true. you pay £25 every year, and once you are ready to allocate the plate to a vehicle, there should be nothing to pay. main thing to make sure is that you pay your £25 on time every year. if you dont, its as simple as this: you lose the number plate!
