Me included at the moment since my mate is really taking his time with returning it. The git.

Never been one to lay down and take a kicking :-P
-
I agree.

What model of Porsche was that? 959? It seemed to go quite well at the top end!

flusted is the man to answer that question! I'd say the WUR could certainly use a tweak to take full advantage of the extra capacity but I can't see that it would cause pinking only at idle solely because it's now a two-litre. If the extra capacity was an issue wouldn't you expect it to pink at all engine speeds when cold? I'll go and measure my WUR heater coil resistance... * EDIT * ...it's approximately 23 Ohms.
-
These may be obvious questions, but a) what fuel are you using? Standard unleaded or one of the fruitier varieties? and b) are you 100% sure the timing is correct? I'm not trying to imply you'd overlook such obvious causes, but...you know. I'm not sure the WUR is your problem. I'd be looking at the ignition system first, although I'm not sure if there's any engine speed or temperature-related advance/retard in the K-Jet system. With respect to the WUR you could start by measuring the resistance of the heater coil. If that seems normal then (I believe) the only other way to confirm its operation is with a fuel pressure test. The control pressure should rise as the temperature of the engine increases to apply more resistance to the plunger movement in the fuel distributor. There's a linear relationship between WUR temperature and control pressure from 10 decrees C (1.0-1.4 bar) to 40 degrees C (2.2-2.5 bar).

We are talking about the cap head bolts that require a hex key to undo, right?
-
Let me guess then... You checked your oil level and forgot to replace the dipstick. Then when you used the car you lost it?

Wow, this must be attack-BC-day :) How is that excessive? It's the price of a nut and two blobs of weld. Potentially destroying a socket sounds more excessive to me.

Come on man...don't make me ask!
-
Another unnecessary follow-up comment. Maybe I should have been clearer but I didn't go searching for the link as the site doesn't actually cover the 16v Corrado specifically. I was hoping for a confirmation from the original poster before I added a link that may have just confused things.

What a bonkers request :) Incidentally, no I can't...sorry!
-
Probably that dodgy Russian site!

Only if you heat the bolt directly. The idea is to heat the carrier so it expands away from the bolt. Either way, expansion can only be a good thing when it comes to rusty things! Personally, I find welding a nut onto the siezed bolt works a treat. New bolts are obviously a good thing to have on reassembly (but not essential)...

trig's 94 OBD2 VR6 - New Wheels!!!! (...finally)

Believe me, the camera DOES lie. -
7.4 cu ft/min - perfect for pumping up tyres and stuff but it would struggle with a decent sized impact wrench I think. The small tank wouldn't help and would make spraying difficult. Bloody good price though for a handy bit of kit.
-
That's bloody handy to know. So, what exactly is inside a VAG PAS rack and how do they work?
-
Is there a difference between the VR6 rack and, say, the 2.0 16v rack? I'm interested to know exactly what goes on inside my 16v steering rack as replacing my PAS pump today hasn't cured the heavy steering when cold.
-
To be honest, if I could uprate the suspension and keep the current ride height I would. The front spoiler thing catches on stuff already.

Ahhhh, not true. I love the car but I'll never pretend it's not worthless. In fact I spent an hour under it today and changed the three engine/gearbox mounts. I'll be replacing the PAS pump tomorrow morning and changing to the later two-pulley system also. I've also got two new rear tyres in the garage waiting to be fitted. Impressed? This is just the start really. The last two years of neglect have resulted in a rather dangerous car (proving the MOT system to be crap) and it's been one near-miss too many. Unfortunately I'm really not in a position to be able to pay people to do the work for me so it can only be done when I can find the money for the parts and the time. Fortunately, although I'm not the ultimate mechanic, I have aquired the tools and the skills to handle most things on a 16v Corrado :) I'll bow down to anyone, like yourself and Trigger, who respects their car enough to keep on top of the maintenance at whatever cost :thumbleft: -
Yer but...no but...yer but...

lol...I won't tell you that I'm using 6 sq. mm tri-rated cable I found in the stores at a previous place of work. Oh bugger.

I used to have fluffy dice in my Anglian Water Land Rover 110. Soooo cool. Back on topic....I reckon the door cards could work.

I never really got into the meets scene. I like to hide behind the veil of anonymity that the Internet provides! Plus, they all seem to happen so far away.

God knows. It doesn't look like any factory switch I've ever seen. Push it....I dare you...
