  1. I suppose it depends wether it is gold plating as you suggested earlier or rust/corrosion. Either way a certainly clean up with contact cleaner will not cause any harm and only take a couple of minutes. Even if it does not solve the problem but eliminates one possible cause of a fault then it has to be a good thing.
  2. Clean them out with a small needle file. Then a damn good clean with some electrical cleaner to wash any swarf away. Maybe a good blast with WD40 and a wipe off to dry it out.
  3. Ooh spooky, I don't drive my C much at the moment, I mostly drive my red Seat Leon!!! Yeah I know Paul, good mates with his previous business partner, before Simon from strictly dubs came down.
  4. Paul 8v, What car have you got? I live in Burnham!! I'll have to keep an eye out for you.
  5. Pretty definate "Bank 1 too lean" was the error which showed up on my Seat Leon when the MAF gave up. Does the car feel more underpowered than normal  If it is slower than normal try unplugging the MAF and running it. If the power improves that is a good sign it has gone. Also if you know someone with the full version of Vag-com who can do data logging you can check the flow reading which is quoted in g/s. As a rough guide IIRC the flow in g/s should be somewhere near max horsepower x 0.8. In this case I beleive 115bhp x 0.8 = 92. Have a look on http://www.seatcupra.net there is loads of info on there.
  6. I have a N/S early headlamp glass which you can have for £10 + P&P. The glass lense is easy to change by the way.
  7. I thought of that after I posted it. It was the fat pink kind with curley tails.
  8. We have just invented car wheel mounted catherine wheels, firework loving chavs will be so chuffed.
  9. Trouble is, I probably could make money from it. How about glowing red fake brake discs or an extra windscreen washer jet mounted so when you squirt it, it looks like you are purging your nitrous system.
  10. Last week on notorious bendy bit of road which bikers love to race and crash on, a lorry full of pigs lost control and rolled into a field.
  11. That is the most stupid thing I've seen in ages. :silly: They will be bringing out smoke machines to fit near your wheels soon to make it look like you are permanantly doing a burnout.
  12. Yeah, but will they put 5.1 in, or will they just use dot 4. From their point of view you will never know, and dot 4 is perfectly addequate for a road car.
  13. I'd go for 2 litres, you can always take the 2nd one back and get a refund if you don't need it, better to do that than run out half way throught the job.
  14. Theres a few bits in this thread http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 2&lighter=
  15. I would definately check the lip where the tyre seals, before condemming them as being porous. I've seen this happen alot. Pump them up and put them in a big container of water and watch for where the bubbles are coming from.
  16. It could be the lip of the wheel is dirty or corroded where the tyre should seal onto it. I've had this in the past, it was curred by removing the tyre and cleaning the wheel up with some 80 grit abrasive paper.

    No Brakes!!!

The rear pressure regulator must be clamped in the position it would be with the spring under tension whilst bleeding. You can clamp mole grips on the bottom of it to hold it in place.
  18. Mine are pretty slow, has anyone checked to see if there is a big voltage drop on them, if it happens on the headlights, then it can happen on the wipers too. I'd imagine they are drawing a fair bit of current particularly at motorway speeds. Its on my list of things to do, as is an uprated headlamp loom, but I am yet to tackle these items.
  19. What about a limited milage 12 month policy? Mine is insured for 3000 miles per year at the moment. It cost £220 TPFT. At least then the car is permanently insured, and you build up NCD.
  20. Yep, my first thought is the hall sender, I had this on my Golf, everything was dead, and typically the final thing I checked was the hall sender, luckily I had a spare.
  21. Luckily most of my mates are into cars or bikes, so they understand and even the girls love my C, although a few months ago one suddenly anounced "This car's quite fast isn't it" :? I answered, well yeah, thats because of all the work I have done on it. The best comment again from a young lady was "This car's well fit innit" and before you take the pi$5 she is not a chav. I do get a bit of stick because I'm always working on my C, to them there is nothing wrong with it and I'm just tinkering. I am just as bad I suppose, I just don't get football, tennis, cricket etc particullarly just watching it on TV. So when there is a big match on I take the pi$5 out of my mates for watching a load of men in shorts running around a field.
  22. Gavin, I use a large dropping peppet to remove the excess fluid and never spill any when removing the cap. I had the problem with fluid going everywhere when I first got mine, it was because the rubber sealing washer was not seated in the cap correctly. Never experienced it again though and I've used it loads. Basically make sure the rubber washer and it's mating surfaces are clean, plus make sure the washer is seated in the lid correctly as mentioned, keep the eazy-bleed bottle upright, never use more than 20psi, and always disconnect the tyre to release the pressure before undoing any of the other connections. Clean any brake fluid off the rubber washer after use, because I found the fluid softens and expands it after a while.
  23. daves16v does the repair kits.
  24. My C and My Seat Leon. The Leon munches way too much petrol. I know :offtopic1: Henny where are you going in NZ? I spent 5 weeks there a few years ago, got to be one of the best things I have ever done. I had friends in Auckland, so I crashed at their flat for 2 weeks, the rest of the time I spent with a mate driving a Skyline round both Islands 8) . Bay of Islands, Mount Cook and Queenstown are the highlights for me. Also went to Mere Mere (Not sure if thats how it spelled) which is a drag strip about 1 hour outside Auckland, good to see the Rotarys (Mazdas) and Holdens doing their stuff. Back on topic I managed to do my trip for around £2000, it was worth every penny too.
