Dox 23 Posted May 5, 2019 I had company vans until I was 25, the first I took home was a mk2 escort van, 1100 and drum brakes all around. Then mk2 facelft transit (plastic grill) - mk1 Astra van, followed by 2 mk2 Astra vans. The first car with my name on the log book was a mk2 cavalier 1600L 5 door in red. Bought in 1988 for £2600 from a vw dealer with the help of my father. followed by a ford orion and a mk1 astra gte (loved this cars driving position) then rust took it over
fendervg 33 Posted May 6, 2019 Red 1979 Renault 4 with the dash mounted push/pull gear change - paid roughly £600 for it - scrapped after a year as the brake system was completely corroded.
VR6appeal 10 Posted May 6, 2019 A Mk1 Golf L in Lofoten Green with orange interior. 1976 reg KSH391P. I paid about £700 for it and every penny was wasted. It was a well concealed basket case and I was naive and in a hurry to get a car. Really learnt my lesson with that heap.
Harrier 1 Posted May 6, 2019 Paid £50 for my first car in 1986,a Renault 12. used my college grant to fix up the engine which along with the rest of the car was rubbish. My mates hated going out in it as it kept breaking down Funny enough there was one in the same colour at Donnington Historic on Saturday Things improved vastly with my second car, Ford Cortina mk5
mooG60 11 Posted May 6, 2019 My Mum gave me her old Fiat 128 on passing my test which I drove (and crashed) until I was 21. Then I bought an x reg Golf MKI GTi with my hard earned savings, and so began my love for VW's.
Mystic Rado 0 Posted May 7, 2019 I rode big, fast motorbikes for years - used to work as a magazine road tester - then finally learned to drive in my early 30s. First car was a 1.3 Polo Coupe S - pretty gutless, had the worst brakes of anything I've ever driven or ridden, too small. I don't know what I was thinking. I upgraded to a Mk2 GTi a year or so later. Oddly I quite liked the Polo and it was the start of my VW thing, but it wasn't really ideal, even after I'd lowered it and upgraded the brakes. It was an 'S' though... I did make me want a G40 for a while.
Gti_Jamo 10 Posted May 7, 2019 Mk1 Golf 1.3c 1981 in Pargas blue. it had a few scrapes and bangs but the shell was minted. Paid £38.50 for it in 1999. Well the owner said I could have it if I fitted a new exhaust to his Type 2 camper and that was the total price of it. It didn't run well due to the classic corroded filler neck contaminating the fuel system with crap. I ran it for 2 months with a jerry can under the bonnet before fixing it. Wullie 1 Posted May 7, 2019 1959 Mini bought in 1969 for £50. ran it to death over the next five years till the big ends went. I sold it for £100 to a motorsport garage as the early bodyshells were a thinner steel and lighter than the later ones. In the spirit of the time rather than repaint the scratched door I covered the sides with tartan wallpaper..
GrahamU 6 Posted May 7, 2019 1974 mini 1000 bought in 1987 for 400 quid, kept it for 16 years as a project car

Jikoolaqy 10 Posted May 22, 2019 My first car was the Corrado '89. She was given to me by uncle when I was 17 years old. Most recently,i rent car Vegas airport and it was the same model of car. After that, I bought myself Corrado again! This car is the first and the best in my life!
vw rule 19 Posted May 24, 2019 First car was a 1981 dark blue Ford Fiesta 1.1 with chrome bumpers and wheel trims, this was back in 1995 when I was 19, car cost me something like £700 But it had the worst crap interior in a sand colour, so found and bought a secondhand XR2 interior and fitted that in. Big speakers on the rear parcel shelf and cut the dash out a bit to fit an up to date stereo head unit, as the original old one was just a radio. Also fitted an XR2 steering wheel as the original one was thin as a twig  Si
blue95 0 Posted May 24, 2019 1.3 mk3 ford escort....remember modifying it from to an XR3 replica then fitting a series 1 RS turbo kit to it lol
seanl82 23 Posted May 24, 2019 A 1991 Vauxhall Gashtra Duo. It was beige and the duo was because it was the height of safety having two airbags.... Had it for 9 months before it failed the MOT on brake lines, so I chopped it in for an 03 Saab 9-3 SS, 2.0t Vector sport. Ok it had GM/Vauxhall underpinnings, but I loved that car and was such a step up in terms of comfort and spec. I even bought another a few years later but in diesel guise. Missus killed that one by putting petrol in it twice in the space of two weeks though! :bonk:
tonedef 9 Posted May 29, 2019 My first car was a Hillman Imp with a full race Greetham 998 engine in it, for some reason there was a concentration of Greetham Imps in Chesterfield when I was in my late teens.....a lot of years ago, great car in it's day! Spent more money on it than I care to remember (rather like the Corrado), it was pretty special by the time I sold it but had been pulled out of a snow drift when I bought it. Can't find any photos of my own but this was shortly after we went our separate ways. The latest photo I have found it seems to be white although it was green all the time I had it, also like my Corrado.
