Cancel cancel that, just found the vr6 section. I bow to your knowledge 👍

Would appreciate that. There is definitely 2 grooves in the hub but the FAG wheel bearings only have 1 circlip as you suggest. Yet a Bentley picture shows 2 like my mk2!!
-
Always nice to know you've sorted some 9f the dreaded rust. Looks good 👍
-
I will do some research then. My mk2 golf definitely uses a circlip each end. Pretty sure there is 2 in a box so will check tomorrow. There are 2 grooves in the hub.... Need to get this right so perhaps get the Bentley out for a read 🤣

I had the same problem with the lower front panel after a year and had that nylon coated, what ever that is. It cost more but is still looking good. I may just spray these with the halfords black enamel paint just to see how they get on. Just had a coat of anti-rust primer after the de-rusting. Unless anyone can recommend a hard wearing spray that I can do myself. It will have taken 2 months just to get round to doing this side 😇, so hopefully the other side won't take as long. Annoyed at it sitting in the garage gathering dust 🤬

Sitting in some bilt hamber DEOX-C for a little extra rust cleaning

Slow progress on this one. I have had the front wheel off for over a month, waiting for time to change the wheel bearings. They keep appearing as advisories on the MOT, which is a surprise as they have only been in a few thousand miles. What I found:- Everything I had powdercoated a few years ago seems to have corroded!! So I have just stripped the hub down and will do it myself. Thanks to putting some copper grease on the ABS sensor, this came out easily 👍 The wheel bearing looks to have been leaking. My bro in law did them and now I know why I had an issue. Only 1 circlip was used.... I have done the mk2 golf recently and they went fine, so hopefully these will have no movement. The damned rotor hub came out with part of the wheel bearing and I cant be arsed to try and cut that off as my grinder is broken. New Febi items ordered. Hopefully I can smarten this up and get it ready for an MOT this year, but it is blocked in still by a mk2 that needs its engine running yet.

👍 well done in sorting that problem and finding someone capable of sorting the ECU. Result

🤣🤣 I wondered where you were. Fantastic annual+ 1 day post .... I am a fan of grey leather,, even more so in the rarer Recaro form. It looks like you will be driving her very soon then 👍

If you have the Schrick sat on a shelf I would say fit it. All easily reversed anyway. But wow what a transformation on driveability straight away. It turned it into an easier driving car and I havent had mine mapped yet. Or sell it and have the money in your pocket 💰💰💰

😂😂😂

I have the group buy ones if you need an unused one. Pretty sure I broke one too whilst trying to fit it, so gave up 🤣

Got to be worth a message to Chris lillfuzzer, I just had some parts from him. If no joy, the Corrado graveyard.
-
Interesting article - Corrado is it a "sportscar" no but...

I messaged to confirm and it is a 4 bar pump. Perfect for my VR and works a treat. This and a one way valve in line solved my hit start issue too

I'm not a fan of JP group products personally. Lucas have been doing electrical products forever and have always been a top brand. Just a suggestion 😇 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234630565376?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=yi1ojZncSxy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=SuQ1hX6ZSQa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Suddenly I'm glad I bought a Lucas one, instead of the VDO I was going to wait for.
-
That is terrible. Are you fitting a one way valve on the line as well as the new pump? Here are pics of my old pump that I changed last year. Which I assume was the original but not really any markings

What 80's - 90s cars for sale have caught your eye recently.

Bloody hell...... -
Yes. That is who I ordered a pair from on 11th Dec, never arrived.... just received my money back this week. There were also some advertised as genuine NOS but suddenly not for my car. I wonder if people forget to remove the adverts when they have no srock

I wish I could find the FAG ones. I've gone off SKF as the mk2 ones were a pain for me. Fortunately these have been off a couple of thousand miles ago, so hoping for that bit to go okay 🤞
