  1. Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I can just replace some seals
  2. 🀣🀣 totally agree, I would suggest the same πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‚
  3. How did I miss this thread before. My car was from Dovercourt too, I will post up a pic. Are you missing yours yet Chris?
  4. Are you changing the rear brakes for mk4 items too, or is that already done?
  5. Cheers Dox. It is a strange one as I do a lot of miles and fill up every week

  7. My daily Passat Estate broke down this morning, just as I was about to join the Motorway whilst travelling down the entry slip road. Ball ache, turned over but would not fire. Nice RAC man turned up, no fault codes and suggested it could be the egr valve!!! Anyway it would start when sprayed in the inlet, but not run. So got towed. I decided to check the fuel pump and this is where it all got worse. Removed easily and whilst on the bench I poured the remaining fuel from the swirl pot into a container, IT WAS BLACK. All of the pump body had a black residue covering the white pump. I then emptied the complete tank and it is a black liquid. Now how the hell does that happen?? The car is no youngster 07 so does this happen over time or am I likely to have bought some bad fuel..... New pump, new fuel, primed and all is good. I must change the fuel filter, but what the heck causes something like this?
  8. I like the idea of having a gauge connected so you know what is always happening, what an upgrade. VDO gauge upgrade Another positive as I started the car this evening and all is good. No fault codes showing on VCDS either. No more smoke from the bonnet area but I do need to replace / repair the muffler to quieten it back down
  9. Nice looking event that I am sure will only get bigger
  10. Update time.... been a busy day Hopefully this shows it better Dox. I can assure you it is on the pressure side. I disconnected the black pipe, put the NRV on and got some Keyo recommended fuel pipe to link the tank connection looped round the the valve ( would have been a good shout if it didn't start ) As it was still poor running I managed to fit the Crankshaft sensor. Damn the electrical plug is a swine to get to... Started her up and she still wasnt brilliant so I also did a bit of a stationary ecu result holding the revs 1k high each time then back down again and now she is happy. I've ran her up to 120Β° on the oil temp and she starts warm, the best ever I will try again later and post up the starting. What I can not do is specifically say that one item has solved this. Okay the crankshaft sensor made it better, but was that because of my attempted ecu reset too. Is the warm start better because of the non return valve, as fendervg has said about the VW fix Is it the new 4 bar swirlpot that i fitted.... only a Lucas item 1H0906091Q cheap but quality and a perfect fit too. Maybe one day I will get the VDO item but I will see how this behaves. It's nice to know that the Q version fits our tanks identically. I Still have something else to look at in the engine, but for now I am having a deserved cuppa to celebrate her running with thanks to all of us forum members
  11. Bad running update. I have changed the camshaft sensor for a genuine item, but couldn't try it until today due to the fuel pump debacle. Well as I had an hour, I swapped the level sender onto the new Lucas item and fitted it back in the tank and connected in the inline one way valve to. Started her up, and she is still running badly.... Hopefully as mentioned it will be the Crankshaft sensor that I shall change tomorrow. From Classic parts and was delivered in la week, happy with that But if that doesn't cure it..... I will be annoyed 🀬😁
  12. If you can turn it over a few times manually and it all still lines up, then you've cracked it. Although a Corrado is never that simple
  13. Looks good. I have just taken a 1.8 8v mk2 gti engine out and messed about with all of its timing marks before dismantling to make sure it was correct. Yours will be fine
  14. Ooooo now they doooo look very nice and necessary with how ridiculously quick your car is. πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ I take it you sorted out the transmission side of things..
  15. https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/fuel-pump-porsche-911-3-6-convertible-carrera-996-1h0906091c-itp312 I think this was what Dave ordered. Same part number as a VR6 surprisingly and his fitted unlike mine. πŸ™ˆπŸ˜«
  16. With how clean you have them now, dunk them in the bilt hamber and it takes it back to clean bare metal. I occasionally lift the parts and may rub any rust bits just to help the process along
  17. πŸ‘Great work. I occasionally do this as it seems some black magic going off to make the sacrificial part rusty. But now I have found Bilt Hamber deox c and that stuff creates even better results with less effort. I would definitely recommend this as it seems to clean the whole metal better. You wont be disappointed https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181161232758?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=gt2bXHAaQNG&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=SuQ1hX6ZSQa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  18. I half looked at this and should have read it properly. It was a Porsche described fitment and like a pillock I looked at Corrado and didn't see it... So I ordered a compatible fuel pump from Fuel pumps online, just under £60 with delivery and vat. Great service as it came next day, BUT It doesn't actually bloody fit in the housing even though it says compatible with 1H0906091C Whilst I sort this with them i have ordered a swirl pot unit 1H0906091Q , a Lucas item to see if this fits. I would have begrudgingly ordered a VDO unit and may still do, but as daves16v has found, it is well over a month for delivery Hopefully it will arrive soon and I can test the car with its newly fitted cam-impulse-hall sensor to see if that has made a difference to its running. Although more likely to be the crank sensor which is stil on it's way from the Fatherland 😁
  19. A corrado should always be saved, so for the right money I'm sure it will be. Have the insurance paid you out and what category is the car? As this will all effect anyone's work against value. As Hasan says, some pictures will be good to see. Whilst Storm values want to be high for the badge, leather seats colour coded grille and some alloys that are common to golfs, any loss write off makes a difference, depending what you want for it. Maybe bigger front brakes next time πŸ˜‡πŸ€£
  20. What!! 🀣🀣
  21. Just tried to start a new thread but I just get a circle that does nothing 😑🀬🀬 Anyway, I have just collected 021907601A camshaft position impulse (hall) sensor. Damn is it called lots of things... Does anyone know the torque value for the Allen stud bolt please as I cant find it in the Bentley. I have found the engine crank speed sensor is 20Nm when I get it, but that is in the block, so I assume the Cam would be less.
  22. Have you messaged Chris lillfuzzer, he normally has lots.
  23. Found it ... VDO 4 bar pump E22-041-060Z
