Great write up FLA from an old thread. I have the confidence to remove the carpet myself now and complete the job. I have a rubber level of about 2 mm and some insulation of about 10 mm at present so just going to replace the 10 mm insulation and keep the rubber as it gives good insulation and a nice even finish under the carpet. i think its been covered quite widely so have a search. Anyway, in the meantime heres a little summary: Pull off plastic trims by the door Unscrew teh rear doorcard screws (one each) and carefully pull the doorcards off remove the rear seat bases - push hard at the front of teh seat and the bracket will pop out remove the black plastic seat runner covers (either side of the tunnel) remove the front 10 (iirc) bolt at the front of the seat and slide it back - if you ahve heated seats, remove the connector from under the seat itself Remove the seatbelt securing bolt (17mm) and pull the bar out - make sure you secure the bar in the rear slot when refitting!! Remove the centre tunnel - two pieces, need the handbrake handle off first Remove the plastic covers in the footwells By the pedals, you'll see where the carpet has been fitted to the floor - remove the plastic nuts there Check if there's anything else holding the carpet in place Take the carpet out. Not tricky, or difficult, just allow yourself some time and keep a tu

From what I can see Heritage do two versions. deluxe double layer 24mm in total Standard single 10-12mm deep in total Has anyone fitted either does the deluxe fit sounds a little to deep. Any advice would be great. Thanks

Ok by the sounds of it chap youll have to test all the other possibilities and rule them out before going forward with your claim so you can be sure. Can anyone recommend a good insulation , is it meant to have a rubber side to it so it stop damp coming up to the carpet. mm depth for insulation ? Does the carpet have a rubber backing mine seems to have carpet at the moment and under that is a rubber layer and under that the insulation wrecked through coolant. Do I just need to buy insulation and the carpet has the rubber on it all ready? Thanks in advance.

You got me leak paranoid and just checked my car thoroughly , annoyingly the last owner had the heater matrix replaced and I can still feel damp coolant on the underlay/ soundproofing, i think its coolant has like a slightly oily /silky feel to it. Looks like they didn't bother to strip the carpets and replace the underlay on the passenger side that got soaked when the leak was present on the old failing matrix grrr. I'm just really hoping its not your windscreen again after all the hassle you've been through and costs.

Yes mate I have seen it but it looks like the drivers footwell I thought it was the passengers ?

water has a habit of reaching places and settling far from where it actually leaks because of gravity. Before you start ripping things out. I would test the sunroof drains asap. Then I would consider taking the plunge on these door seals and make John an offer off here who is selling a roll of door seal to cover x2 doors. I would also be tempted to look at the door card again. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?110024-Corrado-parts-for-sale

Hi rob , Have you thoroughly tested the sunroof drains chap . The drain pipe flows out to each corner of the car roughly where the A pillar comes down to the sill on the front of the car. Open up the sunroof and get a jug of water and pour in each corner, especially the front corner of passenger. I imagine there is no chemical smell in the water as you seem to have no concern that it is the heater matrix leaking. Hopefully its not the windscreen chap as it could be more then the window fitter it could be the fabrication of the new piece the seal does not quite house correctly. If its not the sunroof I would take the plunge and buy a new door seal as really you need to eliminate all the easy stuff first before going to the body shop. Im pretty Sure JonVR& had some for sale off here.

Rob does your cassette holder fit under the ashtray where the VDO gauges go ? This is a bizarre diagram from VAG, it shows a cassette holder next to the handbrake and also a bulb in the rear ashtray, not sure even in the States they had a cassette holder by the handbrake. Anyone ever seen one of these cassette holders where the handbrake centre console is ? Part number 25 is showing bulb for rear ashtray which mine does not have. Part number 26 shows a bulb for cassette holder in handbrake console. http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/RDW/modell/COR/year/1995/drive_standart/76/hg_ug/919/subcategory/214010/part_id/0/lang/e

That's good to know Sean I just checked the new springs that I didn't use and they are ending with 3002HA so made the right decision not fitting them. Thanks.

Ok Im glad to report my photos are now showing. The spring comparison can be seen on link below. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?109949-Black-magic-returns-home/page2&highlight=black+magic+eibach

If you search Black magic returns home its on there also. I even put some pictures up to compare the rear H and R springs I took off the car with the new Eibach ones, the eibach where considerably shorter, but this site deleted all the pictures on my thread. Like P I had Eibach send me out some springs - I still have the new original springs that were incorrect and the H and R springs I took off for comparison.

Interesting this is a VW original OE RHD extremely rare pod cluster that fits early cars. The gauges are not original but good quality. The battery gauge has been swapped out for a boost gauge so ideal for an early car with turbo upgrade. I think Sprinter had made some for reproduction ones for LHD but not RHD so extremely rare part. Pod is Number 7 on diagram http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single...4/lang/e#sec_7 You can still buy the two missing bungs from classics Part number 535867842A 4FB https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts...en-dd06a7.html Pod and gauges https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-Corrad...97.m4902.l9144 Good buy for someone with an early car with a turbo or someone willing to put a battery gauge back in how it came from factory. You can still get the original VDO gauges in regards to the part numbers . So would be a complete stock unit. No 22 + 23 on diagram. http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single.../lang/e#sec_23 Battery Part number 321919531A https://www.justkampers.com/321-919-...olt-range.html Oil part number 155919551 https://www.justkampers.com/155-919-...bar-range.html I would be all over this if I had an early model as truly rare !!!

This look interesting. Also a fair few late door handles for sale on ebay second hand. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Passat-Door-Handle-Conversion-without-lock-VW-Corrado-G60-VR6-16V-2L-NEW/170590691722?hash=item27b7ff618a:g:PF8AAOxy79JRf0YC

Basically all you need to do is remove ashtray from housing. Then the ashtray housing has a couple of screws at the back -remove them. Then pull housing out and in the top is the bulb housing and just clicks out.
-
Anyone know what the bonnet fillers are ? I was thinking an intermediate damper when the bonnet shuts ot something to do with water draining down the internal wing water channel/control that runs in line with the bonnet.
-
I think some countries had it stock as I have seen a bulb in the rear ashtray on diagrams.
-
No worries mate if you click on the classics link above on previous post you'll see a diagram on there showing where the bulb houses.
-
Front ashtray should be illuminated. If you take the ashtray out above where it houses there should be a white fitting that pops out, inside there should be a black fitting with a green bulb in. Bulb should look like this. Part number 357919243A K25 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-VW-Bulb-Carrier-With-Bulb-Green-357919243A-K25-/333090821998 Cheapest place to buy is classics order through Heritage = these will be obsolete soon I imagine . https://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/en/lampentrager-a9e128.html Reckon this will fit as well and is cheaper but without the green tint. Should be able to get from Skoda dealer as was using them well into 2010 in their models. Part number Skoda 357 919 243 D 85H https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/357919243d-ashtray-light-bulb-oe-8069.html

The heat seat switch illuminates as well you can still buy this one, mine had stopped illuminating. I see my rear ashtray has no illumination. You can still buy the bulb for the front ashtray its like a green bulb in a black housing. From what I can tell on a late model.. The late double drivers switch is obsolete + spoiler switch + late electric mirror switch. So I guess these are worth getting as spares. All the rest are available I believe not sure about the electric sunroof have never looked. Interesting enough the spoiler switch was also used in a T4 camper for some type of spoiler. Anyone know what are the purpose of these for ?? Bonett Fillers. No33 on diagram http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/RDW/modell/COR/year/1995/drive_standart/76/hg_ug/823/subcategory/151000/part_id/0/lang/e#sec_33 https://www.vwheritage.com/191823713-filler-piece-for-the-bonnet-vw-spare I was down AMOS today and some of the obsolete items I purchased , 8 bonnet fillers- intake boot(elbow)- double window switch drivers and fan control uni, x2 seat tilt handles.

Hi is the spoiler switch meant to illuminate. Thanks
