    Respray/Bodywork

Crap me do you think the front windscreen was replaced at some point and the fitter didn't bond it that well and let water in, glad to see you sorted it though, this is a famous problem in Porsche 993 + 964.
  2. See your up in Scotland mate I noticed this car for sale earlier, has some seriously rare parts, BBS body kit I think. and very rare colour not my cup of tea but none the less I think the body kit looks the business, would look great in Black or red. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Mk2-GTI-16v/174094811543?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144
  3. I can see these cars doing really well and the closest thing to a Rallye as had quite an exaggerated body kit etc, only just over 2k examples sold in the UK so has all the hallmarks as a good investment. Also the example after that looked pretty ordinary and then they moved to the R model so it really is a quite rare car to be fair.

I think you will get a good body shop to do that if you shop about with your budget.

Is it just me but has this doubled in price for the last 5 years. Well above inflation.

Right just spoke to him and they said for a full respray glass out etc starts at 6.5 k . I would seriously consider jumping on the ferry and getting done on the continent at them prices .

I’ll speak to my body shop in Rugeley mate the one partner owns a rado and the other mk2 golfs and e30s so an older car do t bother them , all the Vw people’s use them round here .
  8. Good stuff mate did they get bored out to 3 liters . Surely that should increase bhp from stock figures by a little.
  9. Anyone else would like one of these as another VAG car next to the Rado. Think they look great in moonlight blue which is a rare colour apparently. Do prefer the interior with cloth and leather bolsters think its looks a bit much all leather. Very tempted to sell my Mk7 GTI P/P and get some money out of her to finish my golf and rado and bank some money and buy a car like this ha, just talking out the box really. Would be looking more around the 8-10 k mark for one. They have all the mod cons I would want and unlike my Mk7 golf will not lose value. Just an excuse to get another VR block in family to be honest lol. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-Volkswagen-Golf-3-2-R32-3dr/264490719670?hash=item3d94e019b6:g:J50AAOSwbv9dntWI

The OEM airbox looks the business has that retro 80s design with the stripes so cool.
  11. Its the bolt for the front splitter need x5 , No 16 on diagram https://www.ilcats.ru/vw/?function=getParts&market=USA&model=COR&modelcode=76&year=1989&group=8&subgroup=807&part=137000&language=en It is crap when a bolt has not been superseded. I have noticed the bolts for rear bumper brackets are available no where asked at the dealers and VW golf Heritage. These buggers. https://www.vwheritage.com/n90309201-hexagonal-bolt-m10x33-vw-spare When ever I change a part Im really obsessive about using new OE bolts and washers but it ain't cheap, even changed all my hose clamps to OE VW, think it nearly cost £70 as some of the largest spring clamps are nearly a fiver.
  12. It does look like good one don't it Geri, will be hard pushed to get one with that rare interior, good colour and lowish mileage, as long as the engine is ok because have to wonder why is the seller letting it go after such a short time. I'm wondering what else the car has hidden away, maybe some VDO gauges in the cubby hole. Up Sheffield way, I bet Shaun wouldn't mind a smooch at it for curiosity.
  13. Don't give them ideas Chris or they might even add a nifty to that amount :smug:
  14. Not sure it is USA spec but Is most certainly only for left hookers and were available in Europe , it is the Northern Ireland car that was for sale on here the last 12 months , now up for sale again .
  15. Look who is back on the market on mainland UK, I remember that interior. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201911134315965?advertising-location=at_cars&radius=1500&postcode=b736hg&make=VOLKSWAGEN&year-to=1995&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&sort=relevance&page=6&modal=photos
  16. £300 folks are hoping less half then that for a pair. Well I Am anyway! The roof gutters cost that much and are a lot more complex and larger. Think originally they were about a £100 for a pair ?
  17. My instincts tell me if Classics remade the the roof gutters then they will make these as well, as mentioned though as long as we can provide evidence that they are in demand. A way forward with obsolete parts might be to contact classics then start a similar thread like Chris L did for these scrapers, as the thread in itself is evidence even better then a list of names , the link to the thread should be sent to to classics alongside the list of names IMO, also if you can get other countries with Corrado clubs and forums to run the same thread at the same time and then send the evidence of demand together to classics that will have some clout.
  18. Yes mate in several places around the car there are slabs of wax including the battery tray, once it starts to break up I think it's best to remove it because the water gets trapped underneath the wax so causes more harm than good IMO.
  19. Mate get her finished off and enjoy the car.otherwise you will not get the true cars value.
  20. Hi Chris, User name peacedub CF Member unable to login the last month or so. He would like a set.

    Davina air con

Sound mate I'm just trying to work if the part numbers designated with an A on the end are only suitable with cars that came with air conditioning , as the normal part number is very rare and the part with an A on the end is more available and would be handy if they do work with a normal set up. What I have worked out is the fan control unit (early) 1H0919506 does not have the two fuses inserted into the top, just the bar fuse. up to chassis F 50-R-000 001. I wonder if this unit is for early 2 stage fans for the VR6. This number also has an option with the same part number with an A on the end. (Late) 357919506 this is the late one for a 3 stage car from chassis F 50-R-000 001 , my 1995 VR has this fitted, it also comes with an option of an A on the end . It has two fuese inserted in to the top of the fan controller. This part number has been superseded 3A0919506 which you can still purchase from classics for a whopping £200.00 - this part also comes with a option with a part number with an A on the end. So I was just wondering are the part numbers designated with an A are only for air conditioning models. There are other part numbers out there for 9a and other models but Im just concentrating on the ABV (VR6) model.

    Davina air con

Hi Cressa. Do you have to change out the fan controller unit if you have aircon ? Is it correct that the part number for a fan controller with aircom has A as the last digit/ For example late control fan unit part number 357919506 and there is part 357919506A, just trying to decipher the fan control part numbers. Number 25 on diagram variations. http://www.oemepc.com/vw/part_single/catalog/vw/markt/RDW/modell/COR/year/1995/drive_standart/76/hg_ug/937/subcategory/219015/part_id/0/lang/e#sec_25
