Sounds like your mechanic might of snapped the mirror and purchased a new one off ebay that are very cheap to be honest- as mentioned clean the terminals inside the switch with some contact cleaner and a cotton bud - make sure when you open it you dont misplace the small springs which are near impossible to find on the floor if dropped.

It must be glued on and the sticker is to hide it from outside of car I imagine- how bad is your windscreen - the clip is very expensive Between £40-£50 only last couple left was £11.00 earlier this year. . - if your windscreen is old with faults it might be better to use insurance and get new screen with clip (make sure screen comes with clip). Maybe VW dealer sells for cheaper the clip.

The windscreen should have a circular bracket part number 535845543 that it clicks onto. Comes on new windscreen. Yes I have many parts form a 2.0 A including the head +block + refurbished manifold + O2a gearbox with 16v gearing. upper and lower and many other parts . Sure chap they come new with decals but they fall off pretty quick as rubber has petroleum in them and has bad adhesion - I got these decals made chap. In the Golf Mk2 world these mats sell for £160 = the Corrado world aint tweeked on yet so they are a bargain at the moment- the best ever sets were the Votex carpet and rubber mix - pure quailty. To be honest mate you recommended it me and I can honestly say it is a fantastic product.

Been doing a little bit of restoration on x 3 sets of rubber Corrado factory mats with Gummi + new decals which are often missing and a few sets of gutter trims using new d shape rubbers and 3 m tape at the bottom. Cool mate Gamma 3 cost around £200 in Europe so im still waiting for a bargain Gamma 3 or perhaps still the modern Blaupunkt Bremen. Gamma 4 around £100 on Europe.
