I don 't think it can be done without removal of the cover plate... Flexible screwdriver works wonders for this job - easy with the right tools!

Love that bonnet stay! -

Yeah that is the best place to support IMO - so you don't damage any underseal.
-
If it's an original Pierburg or Bosch pump and a new sender then you will need a new VDO pump too as they are not compatible...
-
VW everytime... recons are not worth the hastle when you can get brand new / exchange ones for not much more.
-
Same for all 16v IIRC - I'd buy new from VW rather than messing around with pattern parts. 6K0422154X - £128.50 +vat Trade from VW
-
I can't see the pics but have you bought a new bolt - they don't cost much from VW
-
Yep, never understood the point of low temp stats or fan switches - sure just a way of working round a problem that lies elsewhere in the system...
-
Well done mate! Although after seeing the pipes I think the tester was being seriously fussy, harly anything wrong with them!
-
Abdul - sorry - I had a look at a mates 9A Corrado last night and no relay in position 3, the ECU on that engine must get power elsewhere... I would try a new ignition switch - you can plug in and try it without actually fitting it.
-
They are less than £20 from VW rrp - used to be £11 a few years ago though! I wouldn't use anything else but genuine - pattern bearings from china are dangerous!

Central locking switch in the door handle faulty?
Supercharged replied to VeeDub Geezer's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
No not really.... the cables corrode at the handle end and break off - you could have a look by withdrawing the handle carefully but if it's old they may just fall off. New door handle is the only real fix -
On a G60 I'd use the standard ones - £50 a set from VW

2 Cips?? - no 7 sounds right

bestbuytyres seem really good and cheap - used them a few times now.

It's fairly straight forward but the original pulley might be a git to get off and require a puller... There is a special tool for the damper but you should be able to get it off easily enough by pushing on it, getting it back on with the shorter belt might be more difficult and require a second person to help - careful not to damage the rubber bush. You might want to also get a PAS belt too as this needs to come off. ECU - you need to take the scuttle / leaf cover out to remove the ECU.
-
I'd look behind it to start with and see if you can see anything from inside the car... maybe previous accident or water damage. I would get some wax in there anyway and also check the badge grommets and light gaskets if you find any moisture inside.
-
Same thing really... Rockwell ones use Bosch motors. Early and late will both fit too - only difference is the electrical connector and the late ones also got a crank handle I'd look for one off a MK3 Golf in a scrappy.

The 5 weird shouldered bolts go along the front and thru into a metal support piece that clamps the splitter to the bumper. The other 4 hex head bolts go at the sides.
-
The G60 ECU is not adaptive so no reset needed. The ECU relay is 3rd from the left in the top row - 30 or 32, if it's old the change it - same goes for the fuel pump relay

Blasting and Powder / Nylon coating is the way to go and as this part doesn't flex it should last well and not crack. If you do just paint it then don't use Hammersh1te - it's oil based for a start and has no rust protection whatsoever. Rust-oleum seems to be the stuff of choice, dries as an enamble and is slightly flexible to will resist flex and stone chips etc. Here's one I did using the gloss - you can buy a satin finsh though that will look more OEM... Gun from eBay for £12, paint £12 (0.75Ltr) from a local supplier, thinned with white spirit - used less than 10% of the can of paint!

ECU relay or Ignition switch
-
They should do but as above the quality is crap.... never using them again. OEM - last ages, fit perfectly.
-
Have you looked at the ECU relay?
