Yes, the ones you nede to order go straight into the metal support / clamp piece...
-
Yeah - it's the other 5 you need - £1.50 each.
-
They look right - there should be 2 either side into speed nuts and then you have the 5 funny looking shouldered bolts that go through into the metal support.
-
It's all in the instruction manual if you have it but basically the MFA 2 is ongoing until you reset it, MFA 1 is for each journey and resets after 4 hours (I think) of the engine being off. Oil temp a bit high but ok - water temp should be 90 when warm (middle of the gauge) - most likely you have a duff sensor or the thermostat is stuck open.
-
It's not that bad - maybe £70... should last another 15-20 years or so too!

I've bought the repair kits before but not seen a nylon sleeve? New carriers are £16 a side from AVS - http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info. ... ts_id=1900

Is there actually a bush on the VR - I thought it just bolted to the side of the bar? If you want sharp handling then fit the TT/R32/LCR rear wishbone bush - don't bother with poly!

Is it normal that the clutch goes "dead" when battery is off
Supercharged replied to Mawrick's topic in Drivetrain
ahh, ok...so different design on em or? Yep - New ones are unpainted alloy, old ones are cast painted black. -
I fitted the MK4 ones when I did my 312 conversion, had to drill a hole and you'd need to cut them the clear the ABS sensors. I assume the late MK3 ones would just fit perfectly. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=83206

If you have a new one handy I would stick it on - the new alloy type don't rot inside like the originals... -
Yeah just rip the shield off for now and fit new ones at a later date - roughly £7 each from VW

I'd bleed it first and see if it happens again but as above it's probably a failing cylinder -
No sorry - I don't work for G-werks but Darren said a while ago that the new VW bolts are now ok to use - maybe you need a new pulley too though... I'd give G-werks a call maybe and just confirm.
-
Ah ok - yeah I sounds feasable that that non-genuine sender has maybe knocked the needle off the spindle...
-
The car that Davidwort just bought was a late 8v with an early gorilla...
-
On a G60? - just use the standard bolt that VW supply for that engine.

Chris Langdon's Moonlight Blue VR6 thread!!!

That's a standard late Corrado one isn't it? -
Hmmm... not sure - you sure the noise isn't the ABS system priming?
-
VW do individual leads which are superb but it's hit and miss weather you get red or black. If you don't mind black ones then just go for the VW spares BERU ones - very good for the cash. The generic VW ones are £75 + vat the set from TPS for the VR

vr6 sodium filled valves + upgraded big end bearing

Only G60's as far as I know mate -
The other thing you guys should do if you use Quidco is regiister your credit card with them. Halfords and a few other places then pay cashback on till transactions and this works with trade card purcheses too... I recently bought the big Industrial top tool chest - was about £143 and a couiple of weeks later I got another £6 cashback.
-
Why not go to the dealer? GSF may do the matrix ones but the fit and general quality is poor and may only last a few years. Samco is the other option but they are more expensive than OEM and again the fit and quality is poor.

davidwort's 16v - looking a bit shinier
Supercharged replied to davidwort's topic in Members Gallery
he just needs to find a nice TDI engine to go in it now! -
SACHS or LUK are fine but I would go with Genuine VAG as they are often better than the pattern part by the same manufacturer... Before you take the gearbox off though - what feels strange... might just be the fluid needs changing or the slave cylinder is leaking.

LOL, well done David - was very tempted to go and buy this myself but saw you were interested... Welcome to the exclusive Dual-Corrado club!
