  1. Yep, I've bought bits from Philip before, sells alot of ex dealer stock too and provides an excellent service!
  2. Supercharged

    High idle

    What car do you have??
  3. Hi mate, the code should be on the chassis sticker next to the engine code... look in the service book
  4. Yep and check all earths... Whats wrong with the original and why did it go wrong?
  5. Cool - that sounds fine, those matrix valves might have stuck slightly, they don't last forever... Well worth sticking a new pump on while the charger is off, makes the job so much easier!
  6. Nope, I find my Bosch Classix very effective at cleaning a range of engine parts
  7. ..or convert to electronic :?
  8. BB - What are you.... a BMW salesman??
  9. Did they search dealer stock?? you may find one sitting around somewhere...
  10. VW would be the only place for this - they are not obselete are they???
  11. From Greece? that Niko bloke really takes the piss, most of the stuff he advertises as obselete is still available
  12. Yep, loving the R8 ever since I saw it at the ring... I have now seen 2 this week being driven round Woodbridge and Audi UK also sent one down to the Northgate meet last week for us to have a look at - looked stunning in white under the garage lighting!
  13. Hello, a pressurised system will always go at it's weakest point, to do it properly on an original car you really need to do all the plastic housings inc the rad elbow and thermostat housing (altho easier when changing water pump) along with checking the condition of the rad and hoses... Water temp, I would change the 2 sensors on that part while your at it - they underread with age - When i did mine it cost about £50 for all the plastic bits plus the 2 sensors, new bolts and O rings etc... I think I had already bought a pump and stat with housing tho... If you've got oil in the header tank then you've either got a blown head gasket or oil cooler, you can delete the cooler by fitting 2 water hoses off a MK1 (usually done as part of fitting a mocal kit from Gwerks etc) When filling up with G12+ you need to fill slowly (VW say 5 mins) via the rad top hose and wait for the level to appear in the exp tank, then top this up and run with the cap off until the stat opens, you will see the level go up then down slightly, at this point tighten the (blue) cap and run until the fan kicks in (should be 95 degrees on water guage), switch off and let it cool down before topping up again. I think you may have a stat stuck open by the way if your only seeing 75 degrees but worth changing the black senor first on that plastic housing, the other thing about the cold air could be seized recall valves going to the heater matrix, only real way to fix this is a new Mk3 matrix if yours is still original and 2 new pipes (the new MK3 ones have built in valves so you can revert back to the standard pipes)
  14. Hello - the sensors sit on top of the oil filter housing, worth cleaning up these and the wires going to them... if they leak at all change them - also check the battery connectoions are secure! Oil - what are you using? iff it's not been changed recently I would change it for Silver Synta asap and see what happens - other thing it could be is a blocked oil pump pick up or faulty pump (sump needs to come off to check these)
  15. Fan should cut in at 95... Probably best to look at why the fuse blew, they are massive so there will be a fault with the motor or wiring to make this go...
  16. Could be yeah, they have improved the part... worth changing anyway if not done before - if your lucky your local VW dealer might have one instock tomorrow (the only one worth buying)
  17. Worth re-seating the relays and checking fuses... How old is the ignition switch?
  18. The comfort kit is a term C&R use to describe the upgrade to the MK3 style (in our case VR6/late 16V/8V) top mounts They are more comfortable in terms of ride quality but don't last as long as the single piece items as fitted to the G60 etc
  19. Better off keeping the non adjustable tbh, less chance of play... The steering lock part is not hard to get hold of - less than £20 I think, ignition switch about the same... you can drill your existing barrel and re-use if it's not been damaged
  20. Cool - do you need the windback tool also??
  21. Yep - every VR i've done a dialogue check on has had about 5 breakdowns recorded and most of those usually say 'undiagnosed' next to them
  22. Yep - mine is still running the original 55ltr tank with an enlarged filler neck, original late G60 in tank pump (as the PD's only require low pressure to the injectors - 1.5 barr i think) and even the standard petrol filter under the car with the original feed and return lines, they go to the PD TDI filter in the engine bay but as far as i'm aware I have no fuel heater and don't seem to have any probs at all with winter starting, just take a bit longer for glow plugs to go out... Dunno how I missed this thread as I only notticed it yesterday!!! - I will post a big reply soon based on observations of mine with the 115 PD conversion
